We’re always surprised when these people turn out to be complete hypocrites. We shouldn’t be. If you’re going to commit mass murder, breaking other religious injunctions is of no importance. What’s a few minor transgressions compared to real evil? This is a good illustration of the “broken window” theory of civilization. Every offense eventually adds up to the disintegration of the social order. So this guy knew exactly what he was going to do. My point is that this isn’t behavior of someone who just “snapped.” This is the behavior of a person who knew he was going to commit mass murder soon and put himself in a frame of mind to do it – what we call pre-meditated intent.

The Pre-Traumatic Stress Defense advanced in the media to excuse Hasan’s terrorist atrocity is simply BS.
