Marvel Superheroes’ Islamic Affirmative Action: Only Emirates Arabs Need Apply

By Debbie Schlussel
Every year, movie studios are inundated with tens of thousands of college students yearning for a scant few spots as academic interns.
Now, the chance to become an academic intern at Marvel Studios–home to the Spiderman (including the upcoming “Spiderman 3“), The Hulk, X-Men, and Fantastic Four movies–just became impossible for most Americans. . . unless they are Arabs, most likely MUSLIM Arabs, from the United Arab Emirates.
Marvel Studies announced that it will reserve several academic internship spots for Arabs (ie., Muslims) from the United Arab Emirates, in cooperation with the Young Arab Leaders and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai’s ruler (Dubai is the largest of the 7 Emirates that make up the UAE).

marvelsuperheroes.jpgislamiccrescent.jpg

It’s the new affirmative action. Don’t be surprised if you see “Super(Peaceful)Muslim” or “Captain Legitimate Resistance” at a theater (and in comic books) near you.
Remember the days when Superman (not a Marvel property) fought the Nazis? Those days are over. Today, Spiderman and the Hulk are embracing the new Nazis.
Well, no wonder Marvel recently killed off Captain America. Having him around–when you’re trying to pander to the America-hating Islamic world–is a huge liability.
More from the Dubai City Guide:

DUBAI – Young Arab Leaders (YAL) and Marvel Studios have agreed to the first ever Hollywood academic internship alliance, according to Mohammed Khammas, the YAL UAE chapter Vice Chairman.
Marvel Studios, one of the world’s most prominent character-based entertainment companies, has agreed to allow sponsored internship students interested in film studio production, directing, editing, script writing, publishing, animation, marketing and back lot associated careers to work directly under Marvel staff in the full range of industry careers.
Mohammed Khammas stated “The alliance between Young Arab Leaders and Marvel Studios marks the first of its kind in the world. From our end, this partnership is a great honor and testament to our standing in the international community. Through this agreement we will be opening great opportunities for young students and professionals in the Emirates”
“It is our objective to build capacities in a number of industries in the Arab world. The entertainment, movie, publishing and directing careers are the new wave of career interests in our region.”
“H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid’s Al Maktoum vision is to explore all unchartered professional territories and excel in them, and with that vision we are preparing young Arabs to be professionally trained to manage these industries from all its aspects, with this great opportunity provided by Marvel Studios and its visionary chairman David Maisel.”
This Young Arab Leader’s initiative is fully supported by Marvel Studio Chairman, David Maisel and the board at Marvel Entertainment who lead both the studio and publishing empire.

Forget the days when superheroes fought America’s enemies. Today, they embrace our enemies. They recognize that the real victims of 9/11 were not 3,000 Americans who were murdered in cold blood, but millions of the fellow co-religionists of the 19 murderers who want to impose their way of life on us.
Today, Spiderman embraces the UAE, which helped the 19 hijackers perpetrate their mass murder. Despite the fact that many Marvel characters were conceived and created by Jews, today Marvel embraces one of several nations that boycotts the Jewish State and does not allow its citizens into the UAE’s borders.
And–surprise, surprise–Marvel Studios chief, David Maisel–is Jewish. Apparently, he forgot about the UAE’s Zayed Center–a state-run agency founded by the UAE’s late leader Sheikh Zayed–which sponsored speakers and published Nazi propaganda and literature, whose central theme was that Jews and America were behind 9/11.
Hath Maisel no shame? Apparently not.
I’ve already written about Spiderman star Kirsten Dunst bragging of being a pothead. Looks like she’s not the only one at Marvel Studios who’s doing too many drugs.

Those wacky mooselims! Hypocrites of the first order! Let’s think about this… Doesn’t the Quran condemn uncovered flesh? How many women have you seen in Marvel comics wearing a burka? Nothing about Marvel comics, and the culture it depicts can be anything but offensive to mooselims. Yet, they want to come over here and study for a profession in Hollywood? Wouldn’t the Hollywood crowd be the first in line for beheadings? Or is it like the Arab engineering students (all male, of course) that flood our universities with daddy’s oil money in their wallets, sleeping with American women, snorting coke, drinking and partying for four years, only to return to veiled virgins at home? Where is Gloria Steinem when you need her?

spiffo on April 23, 2007 at 1:05 pm

Well, Debbie, obviously you just don’t understand that Maisel is reaching out to Muslims, you know, to create greater understanding and respect between our cultures and spread the love around cause, you know, we are against war and hate and stuff . . . (bleeeech!)
I thought Muslims were opposed to Hollywood movies? Did they just figure out that Hollywood movies have great propaganda value?
Meanwhile, here is a Jew who is doing her part to save her people:

AmericanJewess on April 23, 2007 at 1:05 pm

this is part of an arab drive to do much more than invest occasionally in movies, but to reshape hollywood itself is a propaganda machine for arab and muslim agendas
and while that’s true under liberalism to some extent now, we aren’t seeing the rawer kind of hatred ala valley of the wolves mainstreamed yet and more importantly aggressive islamic conversion messages
EXACTLY.

maybe they’ll have those they’ve outreached towards assigned to the X-men penciling and inking-in the character of Mystique.. LOL

This is nothing more than a “you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours” situation. Marvel is building a large theme park in Dubai and this is obviously part of the package to get the park built.

If only all the world’s oil were to be found under Israel, Serbia, US, EU, India, Thailand, Korea and Japan. Then the Mohammedans would have none of the cash that enables them to bribe so much of the Infidel world.
When will the day come when Nascar cars can run on solar, and all our commercial energy would be from fusion?

Infidel Pride on April 23, 2007 at 1:59 pm

I kinda find it hard to imagine a sketch of OBL in a tight jumpsuite and and cape saving people but I’ve seen more outrageously hiliarious cartoons of him and his ilk, none of them being portrayed as heroes though. If lesbians and illegal immigrants can be held up as action figures in certain comic strips, then islamic characters may as well blend in. That what multi-culturism is about; subversion of the true American culture under the notion of diversity be it on campuses, workplaces, politics, toys, video games,toys/dolls, and this time in comic books.
Fatima the Burqa Fly Girl. Hah! Aint that a bitch or what?

Perhaps Marvel will enhance their existing stable of “misunderstood and oppressed” superheroes by somehow “killing off” the existing ones and replacing them with substitutes like this:

sorry- I couldn’t reist creating that.. LOL

Mistress_Dee on April 23, 2007 at 2:21 pm

I’m thinking the next remake of Batman is going to have a Muslim as Batman and a Jew as the Joker. You know, kind of like how they replaced Isaac, the chosen son, with Ishmael, the rejected son, and claimed all the honor for themselves?

AmericanJewess on April 23, 2007 at 2:21 pm

sorry- in case that link won’t work for you because of security, this one will- http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j278/mistress_Dee/SH2.jpg

Debbie, yet another hilarious (not really) example of how the muzzlim agenda proliferates. Here we have more than enough capable U.S. citizens qualified for such internships. As a previous commentor states, it was probably “just a business agreement”. Sometimes, doing business requires living up to a higher standard for the long term. I am a Christian and believe in forgiveness and tolerance. However, I just can’t reconcile my feeling toward this pseudo-religion. It’s just false. It doesn’t preach tolerance, love, or forgiveness. I cannot believe any person of this faith can be anything other than evil. I just can’t. Their book (which I WILL NOT name) preaches violence, mayhem, slavery and murder for all who do not convert to their faith – unconditionally. Judeo-Christianity is again under extreme duress by a new form of tyranny. They do not negotiate. They do not forgive. And they do not stop, nor will they, unless they come up against an immovable force – death. As was the case between 1936 – 1945, we are faced with a potential do-or-die situation worldwide.

FreeAmerican on April 23, 2007 at 2:38 pm

We’re finished. Simple as that. I didn’t know why Cap was killed until now. When you take beloved superheroes and make them accept real life terrists….what can you or I do now?

Squirrel3D on April 23, 2007 at 3:23 pm

Let’s hear it for another company selling out to Arabs for the all mighty dollar! I wonder What Stan Lee who helped create Marvel Comics would say? Stanley Martin Lieber changed his name to Stan Lee to be more accepted in the industry. I wonder how these Arabs feel about working with the infadels? Sigh, what goes on?!?!?!?!?

OneIrishJew on April 23, 2007 at 11:20 pm

You know that YAL is a UAE based organization.
http://www.yaleaders.org/index.php?lang=en-us
Is there a problem with that?
stereotyping Muslims like that?

SaudiMac on April 24, 2007 at 3:15 am

1) If all Muslims were opposed to Hollywood movies, the box-office would not be consistently showing insanely high figures in many countries in the Arab world.
2) Though its quite blasphemous, “Fatima the Burqa Fly Girl” would be a funny parody to make.
3) The UAE did not have anything to do with 9/11, and anybody who suggests otherwise is shooting blanks; there is no evidence, nor have US officials drawn ANY link between 9/11 and the US. The UAE’s population consists mainly of immigrants (Europe, South East Asia etc.) and has less than 25% of local Arabs – and trust me, all of them are too busy enjoying the wealth oil has brought them; cruising in their Maybachs, Bentleys and Lamborghinis, sipping on expensive imported liquor (hypocritical of their Islamic teachings) while smoking a hooka pipe.
4) “Squirrel3D”: You would not need an army to invade the UAE.. you would manage on your own. The UAE is the most peaceful country on the planet, and its entire army can probably fit in my apartment; they concentrate more on economic growth and tourism – check it out sometime, it really is a beautiful place.
5) There is no “Muslim agenda”. Marvel and UAE clearly have an agreement and because the UAE provides extremely generous donations to Marvel and their activities world wide (including a rumoured theme park in Dubai, UAE), Marvel are merely “paying back” UAE and I honestly think it is good to educate an otherwise “under-educated” in the art of film animation, movie scripting et al.
6) This is not meant to be a propaganda machine but to boost awareness to the world that the stereotype and branding of Arab Muslims as “evil” is a foolish and ignorant statement to make. The fact that their countries lack the infrastructe, education and long-term sustainability, means they are turning to more well-established systems such as that in our great America. Give them a chance to prove their worth in this world. Only then will the wrong-doing, so called “Muslims” push themselves in a corner and with time, hopefully fade out completely.
We Americans need to be the bigger people (that we have known to be in the past) and stop judging every single Muslim (or non-Christian) as a terrorist, or someone with and ill-intended mind.

When you spewed this propaganda piece on your computer did you do it with a straight face?
(coughing BS)

“H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid’s Al Maktoum vision is to explore all unchartered professional territories and excel in them, and with that vision we are preparing young Arabs to be professionally trained to manage these industries from all its aspects…”
Preparation for (their belief in the eventuality of) the caliphate—IMHO

eve_anne_gelical on April 24, 2007 at 2:27 pm

THAT’S IT!!! THEY’VE CROSSED THE LINE NOW!!! I WON’T TAKE THIS ANYMORE! I’M GOING TO JOIN THE ARMY AND PREPARE FOR THE UAE INVASION!!! YOU GUYS WITH ME?? LET’S GO!!! OK, LET’SSSS GOOOOOO!!!……..um, where’d everyone go?

There already is a muslim character in the X-Men comics. Her name is Dust. She gets picked on by intolerant Americans because of her faith. She spends most of her time teaching people the the burqa she wears is not offensive to women.
There was a villain named William Stryker who attacked the X-Men because he wanted to “eliminate all muslims”.
As you can see, Marvel was pandering to the muslims for a while. I think we need to send them a message of some kind.

To ScottyDog:
Yes, I had a very straight face when I typed up whatever I wrote earlier. It is not propaganda, but merely a response to the ignorance I encountered above. I felt it was my responsibility to set the record straight, which is why I numbered every point I had to make. Its sad to see your rather pathetic ìresponseî (if you want to call it that) to my post. You made no useful comment; rather no comment at all.
To eve_anne_gelical:
ìGREATî interpretation to Sheikh Rashidís statement. What are you going on about the caliphate?? He wants to educate his people; most of UAEís youth (Emiratis; not the immigrants) are rich, spoilt, school drop outs and he hopes to lower those numbers significantly in an effort to sustain long term growth in the country. Your statement and interpretation of Sheikh Rashidís speech is unbelievably ludicrous.. i should stop expecting someone to understand things beyond the borders of the United States.. and maybe Canada and Mexico.
Surprisingly NO real responses to any of the points i’ve made.. namely to the UAE’s relation to terrorism.. absolutely hillarious, my mates and i had a goooood laugh about the link Debbie has tried to draw between the UAE (ha!!) and terrorism..
