What’s wrong with rap music? I love it. The more vile, obnoxious, crude, and off the wall the better in my opinion. I love punk rock first and foremost though. I am in the Army. When I was stationed in Germany 1999-2001 every weekend was punk rock shows and drinking. Drunk, violent, and crazy at punk shows. A great time. When we went to iraq we would listen to the most vile music possible at high volumes. Wu-Tang Clan, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg. The more obnoxious the better. iraqis hated it. We hooked up an ipod to the comm system in my Bradley Fighting Vehicle. We would listen to Wu-Tang Clan, The Casualties, or Pantera to get us fired up. When we got hit by an IED Raekwon The Chef’s Glaciers Of Ice was playing. I will never forget that song as long as I live. (We all survived with only minor vehicle damage.)
Parents always hate their kid’s music choices. It’s been going on for years. You are a little prudish and uptight. Loosen up honey and relax.

Hey Debbie, I hate to toot my own horn but who knows the tune better! Anyway, I posted about how you were mentioned on Fox yesterday under the guess what religion? please read it for self towards the end. Way to go!
What else can you expect from a “religion” that teaches/preaches to their young children to emulate beheadings and suicide bombers. I wouldn’t call busting into the state capitol building armed to the teeth “practicing the Second Amendment”. And calling 1930s German homosexuals and gypsies “terrorists” is a very inaccurate statement as well. That’s not why Hitler had them rounded up, he didn’t consider them terrorists. Context, dude.

There is no doubt that rap music is contributing to the downfall of this country. No doubt. Not even a little. When an entire generation is made up of people who find nothing wrong with the things routinely celebrated in rap music, there can be no order or safety. There can be nothing but people abusing people and ignoring what is right. I’m not talking about decency or morals. I’m talking about right and wrong. Everyone knows rape is wrong. Murder is wrong. Illegal drug use is wrong. Knocking women around is wrong. A man dry humping a 15 year old girl is wrong. Consumers forcing Verizon to stop promoting a rap artist is simply America saying we’ve tolerated it enough. Look what it’s doing. Look at the state of this nation after trying to keep from stepping on anyone’s free speech rights for decades. Akon has a right to say whatever he wants to say. He can record whatever he wants to record. But everyone in America also has the right to say “If you’re going to preach that shit, I’m not going to buy products that promote you.” And they should. I sincerely hope this shows a turning around of America’s willingness to put up with the anarchy bullshit coming from the “artists” on the left. It’s past time for us to wake the hell up and stop letting punkass “artists” poison society.

While I agree that Akon has no redeeming qualities whatsoever, I’m not sure that getting Verizon to drop him should be celebrated. I mean, what kind of precedent does this set? Virtually everything that is broadcast, written, or recorded is offensive to someone somewhere. What this says is that if you scream loud enough you can cause that person to be penalized.
I disagree with virtually everything Debbie has to say, yet I don’t think she should loose ad dollars because of it. She has the right to say it, and people have the right to read it. However, there is a growing sub-culture of people (on both sides) who want to destroy that.
We have freedom of speech in this country, which means we can say ANYTHING, even if it offends. If you don’t like the music that Akon puts out, here’s a simple solution, don’t listen to it. But don’t limit someone else’s right to listen to it.

Don’t forget that Glenn Beck successfully challenged Al Sharpton to drop the double standard in his protests against Don Imus and go after the rapers (or is that rappers?) as well. He even told Sharpton that he’d march with him – and he did.
He also showed Sharpton the Akon video in which he was simulating having sex with a 15-year-old girl on stage, and Sharpton promised he’d “go after” Akon.
Maybe all the complaints from people like Debbie about the hypocrisy of double standards is actually sinking in!!!
