They became Conversos (using “maranos” = using the N word) because of the relentless evil and brutality of the Inquisition. The massacre at the Chabad house was horrible–no doubt. It was five of the over 173 murders.

What I took out of the program was the great courage of so many of the Indian staff (both Hindu and Muslim) who protected their guests–often at the costs of their own lives. India ia a multifaith society–Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, and Christian–which for the most part, works very well. Most Indians know enough people of other faiths that they can separate the extremists from the “regular” folks. That helps a lot.

For your own sake, please re-read Lev 19:16 and 25:17, if you truly want to be a good Jew. You are gossiping and spreading tales..and causing harm and hatred. Shame. Sorry you have that mistaken impression. In Tampa, shortly after that Islamic assault on civilization, a prominent Indian living in Tampa was invited to speak at one of the local Chabad shuls (Synagogues). We shared our mutual pain. We know this isn’t just about us.

We are well aware that Indians have had to endure for as long as they came in contact with Islam. And, unlike the case with Muslims, Jews have always been well treated by Indians, which speaks volumes for their character. We are very grateful for their unrivaled hospitality.

But, while you are correct that the tragedy isn’t exclusive to us, the fact remains that despite the attackers allegedly wanting to achieve a maximum of destruction, they diverted about 1/5 of their resources to the Chabad House, just to kill a handful of people. That means it was clearly different from the rest of the attack. It’s important to focus on that aspect of this horrible event.

Also, Debbie is, as am I, Jewish. It is only natural, and there is nothing wrong with, our seeing this tragedy through Jewish eyes. We don’t go to Indian web sites and criticize them for lamenting the evil done to them by Muslim fanatics. And if they say, “and some Jews were killed, too,” (or even if they don’t) I am not offended. They have a right to grieve primarily for their own, as do we.

It’s what we call “bait and switch.” The Jewish culture programs PBS has on mostly air during their telethons when they want to mooch Jewish money.
