Now, I will wait until the &quot;cash for caulkers&quot; program is over.Why am I passing up &quot;free&quot; money?  Because (ignoring the fact that it is my tax dollars) more people demanding the services of contractors and supplies from places like Home Depot will only drive up the prices that the consumer pays.  I may get $2000 back, but I end up paying $2000 more in time and materials because the contractors know I have that much more to spend.  Why should they lower prices?It&#039;s the same thing that happened to college tuition prices.  Tuition prices rise to swallow up ALL the available government aid a person can get.
