Jeff_W is right. Bad ownership and by extension bad management. My team the Dolphins were 1-15 2 years ago and a laughing stock. Last year they went 11-5 and won their division, the AFC East. This year they are a respectable 7-6 with a tougher schedule, their starting quarterback, tailback and nose tackle all out for the season. The difference, two words, Bill Parcells. Ownership brought in a guy who knows football and makes the right decisions for the team. The Lions are suffering from bad ownership and residual Matt Millen ennui.

Blame it all on ownership. All NFL teams go through cycles, but a team that bad has to have bad ownership with the way the NFL is set up.

Good luck with Stafford at QB. I’m a Vanderbilt season ticket holder and have seen him in person and I was highly surprised he was the #1 pick.

I just like to watch football. I refuse to try and afford Giants or Jets games its just way overpriced. I just recently returned from Jacksonville Fl. where its was quite easy to pay for tickets ($200 for 4 plus tailgate party), and you get to see a decent team like the Jaguars. I feel Detroit may do better next year with a few more draft picks. All you have to see is that 5 min. footage of Matt Stafford against the Browns and you have to believe there is hope for the team.

Perennially losing teams are the Rodney Dangerfield of the sports world. In the NFL and elsewhere – they’ll never make it to the playoffs let alone the championship game. Pity the poor fans stuck with their hometown team from hell.

All the desperation in the world won’t make them a champion.

And as a long suffering Raiders fan, I also feel your pain.

Attendance in Oakland has dropped to the 30-35,000 level as the Raider Nation is in full revolt against owner Al Davis with his poor personnel skills especially his overpaid, severely underachieving quarterback (JaMarcus Russell).
