In order to find the meaning of a certain word in the Arabic dictionary, it is essential to search for the three letter infinitive verb which is called the root. Many words can be derived from the same root, but they don’t necessarily have to have any similarity in their meaning. The word Islam, which means ‘submission’, is derived from the infinitive Salama. So is the word Salam which means ‘peace’ and so is the verb Salima which means ‘to be saved or to escape from danger’. One of the derivations of the infinitive Salama means ‘the stinging of a snake’ or ‘The tanning of the leather’. Hence, if the word Islam has something to do with the word Salam i.e. ‘Peace’, does that also mean that it must be related to the ‘stinging of the snake’ or ‘tanning the leather’?

I also apologize if I had offended Debbie, who must have been close to suicide after reading it if she had taken the measure to remove such a comment that so lacked Muslim hate and conservative views. She operates quite similarly to the Axis of Evil (Michael Savage, Bill O’Reilly, and Rush Limbaugh), it seems, where any opposing view must be stricken from the record entirely for fear that someone may possibly think differently than her. My posts have been nothing but respectful, albeit on the other side of the table, but if discussion of Islam as anything but a 1-billion-strong terrorist religion is off limits then so be it.

I do challenge Debbie to take the opportunity to email me her response if she so chooses, if she is not a coward unwilling to discuss history and theology without spouting anti-Muslim sentiment. I again apologize for my lack of Muslim hatred in my previous posts, which is I assume the only reason such an extensive and thought-out comment would have been removed from a blog which is almost solely relating to Islam.
