Good News: Prez Obama Comments on Most Important Issue of the Day

By Debbie Schlussel

It’s good that Barack Obama finally commented on the suffering of the people of Haiti and dispatched American help.  Yes, morally we should help them because it’s the right thing to do.  But strategically, we must help them because if we don’t, we’ll soon find Obama welcoming thousands more Haitian refugees to our shores and entitlement roles.

That said, before President Obama concerned himself with Haiti or any of the other most important issues of the day, he was busy hangin’ with his peeps (slang for “people” or “supporters”) at People Magazine commenting on the most important issue facing America and the world:

President Barack Obama in a recent interview expressed faith that embattled golfer Tiger Woods can restore his once-sterling reputation.

The president told People magazine in an interview that will hit newsstands Friday that he “absolutely” believes that Woods can rehabilitate his broken personal life after it was revealed he has had multiple extramarital affairs.

“I’m a strong believer that anybody can look within themselves, find their flaws and fix them,” he said. “I’m sure he feels terrible about what happened, and I suspect that he will try to put his life back together again.”

Well, that’s nice, but why the heck is the President commenting on that? Has he never heard the words, “no comment” or “I don’t think it’s appropriate for the President of the United States to comment on that kind of matter”? Nope.

Americans are less interested in what our President thinks about a near-billionaire’s chances of “recovery” from harem-itis versus his wallowing, declining country’s recovery from every malady he’s helped along.

What’s next–will President Obama weigh in on the latest season of “The Bachelor” or whether Heidi Montag Pratt of “The Hills” had too much plastic surgery? Don’t bet against it.

Usually, when someone makes a statement like that, they’re talking about themselves more than the subject at hand. If you’ll recall last year, he chimed in on March Madness, and spent time filling in his brackets. Look for a repeat performance again this year….

Wow Debbie, this is the first time I’ve slightly even seen you given Pres. Obama some props. You haven’t gone Liberal on us have you?

RK: HUH?! You’re kidding, right? This is an attack on him. While we have a ton of problems and the Haiti stuff is going on, he’s hanging with People talking about celebrity stuff like Tiger Woods. That’s the point of this post. DS

RK on January 14, 2010 at 11:38 am

Maybe Odopey sympathizes with Tiger and needs to get tips on how to pick up women. Just look at the First Ms. Thang (as Debbie has labeled her) and you can see why.

My first thought when I heard this was, “Why is this on the news? Is Obama laying the groundwork for his own announcement?
“look within themselves, find their flaws and fix them,”?
Yeah, that works every time. Unless someone is an egomaniac who can look within himself all day and never see any flaws to fix.
And the reason that they ARE ‘problems’ is because we are incapable of fixing ourselves, of moving them to ‘solved problems’ status. Ask John Edwards. Or any alcoholic who is still drinking.

Don’t kid yourself. There will be Plenty of refugees from Haiti headed to our shores. And remember, refugees with AIDS are now allowed in.

What’s scary about HIV is that you can get it just by looking at a gay person.

Boba, nice one! Too bad the most of the mental midgets here seemed to have missed the humor.

He’s obviously doing a preemptive strike with his concern for Woods. I wonder how many blond bimbos will blab or over dose before blabbing. Please see JFK,lol.

All we need is more entitled scum bags.

It is pretty amazing that Mr. Obama would take time out of a very busy schedule to comment on such a trivial matter. Serial adulterers are not a new phenomenon, but a very wealthy celebrity who is one apparently is. Our economy is in the tank, his health care scheme is struggling, and terrorists are at the gates, but Obama has the time to grant an interview to a gossip rag. Mr. Obama is indeed in perpetual campaign mode.

Worry01 on January 14, 2010 at 12:53 pm

I would like to know how much Woods had to pay the Democratic National Committee for this.

Sounds sort of weird to hear a right-winger flame Obama for sending the message that troubled marriages are worth saving – especially when 1/2 of marriages end in divorce – & besides, Obama still has a looooooong way to go before he matches Bush on the tacky-meter.

Compare this to Dubya appearing on “Deal Or No Deal” … or his appearance at a cheesy motivational seminar … or a Big Game Hunter’s conference.

PS: what the heck are “entitlement roles”? I’m assuming those are TeeVee stars who got there via the casting-couch route.

jim on January 14, 2010 at 2:21 pm

You seem to be having reading comprehension problems. The president is facing some very serious issues now. President Obama also is developing a reputation for very sluggish decision-making, as in the Afghan troop level decision, Fort Hood, and now the Detroit Bomber. Despite this, he takes time out to do an interview with People Magazine, which included his sorrow over a near billionaire’s problem of keeping his marriage together after well over a dozen affairs/One Night Stands. It is laughable. I guess you worship the rich and famous. I will take Bush’s tacky over this anyday.

    sorrow01 on January 14, 2010 at 10:59 pm

Of course it could be the media’s curious obsession with asking the President about every single thing that happens to a black person anywhere.

round guy on January 14, 2010 at 4:06 pm

You were a little light on why the country was ‘wallowing and declining’ and all that. “He’s helped along…” can you be a tad more clear? Because I see a pooch-screwed economy (courtesy Bush, et al), a stalled health care reform (courtesy Republicans, no alternatives offered), and a chorus of shrieking right-wingers presiding over the death of Grandma and Fact. The primed salivation that Obama is using Woods to prepare the ground for his own earthshaking announcement about adultery…classic example. Good thing he didn’t meet with the entire C-street House o’Jesus–we’d really have to worry. But of course, he’s not welcome there because that’s a place “where values reign.” C-street does not need Obama– adultery doesn’t count if you are a republican, and Jesus forgives, as long as you focus your hatred in productive directions.

Actually, Americans are probably the least interested in what you have to say.

NJGeoffery on January 14, 2010 at 4:18 pm

At this point 30,000 ‘refuges’ will be allowed to stay permanently according to the news this aternoon. Frankly after listening to the O’s heart felt sympathy and Clinton’s…I can buy Clinton’s, at least he can fake it better if he isn’t sincere. As for O’s commenting on Woods, he is just following a pattern established since his buddy was put upon by the ‘stupid’ police. And besides that Britt Hume said it twice as well and got nothing but flack.

Gail on January 14, 2010 at 4:18 pm

we must help them because if we don’t, we’ll soon find Obama welcoming thousands more Haitian refugees to our shores and entitlement roles

apparantly an earthquake that destroys an entire city and has killed at least 50 thousand people outright is just the cue you needed to take the meanest, least christian attitude possible

mean spirited and unchristian

and, your ego is apparantly quite fragile

Tacitus Voltaire on January 14, 2010 at 5:31 pm

Just a note of thanks for including that definition of ‘peeps.’ That is one I’ve been confused about for sooooo long. To be honest, I thought it had something to do with chickens.

Now can you help me with one more? Perchance, what does ‘fo’ shizzle’ mean?

kamper on January 14, 2010 at 5:47 pm

Well, I think we will get lots of Haitian refugees anyway. They’ll just have more largess from the taxpayers while they become refugees.

But there’s a bright side to it. It will increase diversity. Now we won’t only have honor killings. We will have voodoo too. So one group kills their wives, the other kills goats, sheep, fowl, and who knows what else?

Where is PETA when we need them?

Little Al on January 14, 2010 at 6:24 pm

I bet if Obama had said “no comment” , Lil’ Debbie’d be bitching that he didn’t use the presidential bully pulpit to guide national morality, or that he was forgiving his “homie” for engaging in acts of poor family morality.

Papa Legba on January 14, 2010 at 6:32 pm

Have you tried reading what was written, rather than mouthing off after reading the thread title. Debbie stated that it was really low grade for President Obama to get into this. So, you lost your bet. Pay up!

    sorrow01 on January 14, 2010 at 11:03 pm

Speaking of King Hussein Obama. Hussein Obama may have to show his official birth certificate if he wants to run for re-election in Arizona. That is if he has one. A bill has been introduced in the state legislature to require it before his name could appear on the ballot. Both houses are Republicans and the governor is Republican. The ball is in the GOP’s court. Will the GOP get a backbone?

CaliforniaScreaming on January 14, 2010 at 8:33 pm

He showed his birth certificate. And you showed your batshit insane certificate. Can we call it even now?

ice9 on January 14, 2010 at 11:07 pm

Heh. Thanks for speaking for all us real Americans Debbie. I don’t want no frizzy-haired, waddymelon eatin’ ninnies washin’ up on MY shore either.

We at the KKK chapter of Braxton County wish you a good day!

Nagger Hater on January 15, 2010 at 2:38 am

As some have alluded to above, we’ll bail them out AND invite them in, so we get a double dose of O’Blunder’s bilge.

yonason on January 15, 2010 at 5:13 am

Once again Debbie you should that you are as stupid as you are stupid.

salvage on January 15, 2010 at 7:59 am

ICE9 if he has the official birth certificate or copy from Hawaii then the question will be squashed. Obviously he must have one Riiiiight? Then don’t get so worked up about it. Since you saw it. Name the hospital it was issued from and the doctor who delivered him?
It seems that when the burden of proof is on Obama the libs cant take it and go to name-calling. Question a black man and you have committed the ultimate sin. Hey the court has stated that there is no compelling interest for him to show the original birth certificate because there is no law stating he has to. Pass this law and guess what he has to show it. In fact a few other Republican controlled states may also pass this same law. No the isn’t unconstitutional since we have all had to show our birth certificates to government officials for various reason. And yes he may have to show the original document just like us little people.
By the way batshit insane is so 2000s’, can you call me something else?

CaliforniaScreaming on January 15, 2010 at 8:05 am

you meant “entitlement ROLLs,” not “roles.” you should talk to your editor.

a hearty hello from Sadly, No! (Smile and wave)

highway234 on January 15, 2010 at 11:45 am

Name the hospital it was issued from and the doctor who delivered him

name yours!

i don’t see either of those items on my own birth certificate.
