We have an old address in Zichron, but no reponse. If anyone knows how we can reach the family, please contact me at shaharfamily@clear.net. It would mean a lot to my mom. II did find out what happened to his lovely wife, Irma and younger daughter, Victoria, and I pray that they are resting in peace. We hope to make contact. My mom, Ruth Gold, still has letters and photos, and she really wants to make contact, and pass the memorabelia on to the family.Thank you.

My mom used to be in touch with the Poltinnikovs when they were in Russia and has been trying to find Dr. Poltinnikov and their other daughter since. I'm sorry I was not a reader of yours earlier, or I'd have expressed my condolences in a more timely fashion. But upon reading this, I wanted to write to you how lucky you are to have had such a special father. As I was reading and thinking about what I wanted to write as a comment and one of my favorite expressions kept coming to mind - and then you actually used it, yourself!:“the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree,”you only used it w/ regard to the conservative political views you shared w/ your father, but i see that expression as FAR more comprehensive than that.it's a beautiful thing to see just how much love and respect you had for your father - your best friend, and hero. i hope you know that all the greatness in him, lives within you as well.you're very blessed.

Wow, Debbie. I lost both of my parents over the last two years. My parents were simple, country folk that did not accomplish as much as your father. They both died of cancer. I am glad to hear that your father did not suffer as much as mine did.
May G-d console you during your time of grief.
May your father receive the reward of the righteous in the world to come.

My deepest condolences, Debbie. You were truly blessed to have his love and guidance over the years.
I leave tomorrow to say goodbye to my father, who is in his last days. Therefore I read and shared your loss rather intimately. I, too, have been blessed and will cherish my time with him now and will carry memories of a good man/father/husband for the rest of my life.
We are both lucky girls to have had these men to guide us and share their values. I hope to live up to his expectations through my remaining years.

Thank you, Debbie, for sharing your wonderful memories of your father. I wish more people who write or speak publicly would celebrate their fathers the way you so lovingly presented him to us. That is precisely the best example of the family values that is the foundation of all civilization. Your tribute made me wish that I had met him. Instead, I enjoy the articles of you, his daughter. My sincerest condolences to you and your family.
Charlie
P.S. No accident that one of the Ten Commandments is "Honor thy father and mother."

Dear Ms. Schlussel,<br

If all that you say about him is true (and I have no doubt that this is the case), then our country has lost a fine, valuable citizen, and we are, as a result, the worse for this.

My deepest condolences for the death of your father, who was obviously a wonderful, astute, morally upstanding, and educated man. I really enjoyed reading about him and he was a great man. In one way I am like him in that I also did not become fully conservative until about 5 years ago and I started getting books from the conservative book club about 3 years ago.

Sorry for your loss.
