Extreme Kudos: Diligent ICE Agent Puts Iranian Arms Dealer Behind Bars

By Debbie Schlussel
On this site, we’re quite critical of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) management.
But that doesn’t diminish one iota our respect for the patriotic, hard-working thousands of rank-and-file ICE agents around the world who are trying to do their job protecting America, notwithstanding their incompetent, selfish, PC higher-up desk jockey bosses.
One of those great agents is ICE Special Agent Brian Bucaro based in San Diego. He is a finalist for a 2006 “Sammie”–Service to America award for Justice and Law Enforcement–for putting an Iranian arms dealer behind bars. This is especially important in this day when Iran is on the verge of developing nuclear weapons and its arms cache and reach is felt in Israel’s attempts to defend itself against Hezbollah.

Here are the details from Federal News Radio:

For more than 20 years, Arif Ali Durrani illegally trafficked U.S. military weapons and components. One of his biggest clients was the Iranian government, which he supplied with missile and aircraft parts.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement Special Agent Brian Bucaro led the investigation that put this internationally renowned arms dealer in jail.
Bucaro discovered that Durrani was operating out of Mexico and was acquiring U.S. military parts by using American front-men. By January 2005, Bucaro had identified and located Durrani’s two key co-conspirators.
Over two years, Bucaro was able to build an airtight case against Durrani. Then, with a tip that Durrani would be in the United States for a connecting flight at L-A-X, Bucaro and his team were able to nab the elusive arms smuggler.
Thanks to Brian Burcaro, this criminal is behind bars and his smuggling network has been dismantled.

Right on, Agent Burcaro. We salute you and hope you get the Sammie award that you much deserve. (A list of all finalists is here.)
If only people like this were running ICE.

This is all very encouraging, until you realize that Julie Myers will find some way to take credit for this herself…
GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE. THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING, BUT CHOSE NOT TO SAY IN THE POST. SHOULD’VE. THE ICE PRINCESS IS COMPETENT AT ONE THING ONLY . . . AND THAT IS TAKING UNDUE CREDIT FOR THE HARD WORK OF “HER” AGENTS, WHO HAVE ABSOLUTELY ZERO RESPECT FOR HER.

My view is the best that could happen would be if we cut down the top heavy bureaucracy in Washington and hired more field staff things would definitely improve. Too many cooks spoil the broth.
Homeland Security is larger than the Pentagon but less effective because its responsibilities so diffused and its various components work at cross purposes. And management hasn’t helped. Its *not* “just here today, gone tomorrow” Julie Myers. Every one at the top seems to believe the spotlight should shine on them. The spotlight should shine on the dangers facing our country and the steps we need to take to avert them.
Sensible bosses would want to do exactly that. They could set an example by cutting HQ staff and letting the field men and women do their jobs. Then we might finally begin making progress in winning the war on terror. Instead of the PR fluff, let’s have the goods.

Julia Myers is clearly unqualified for the job. She should just go back to being a mall chick. No wait, she may not even be qualified to do that. About the only good thing I can say about her is that she will put the all-important job of Motherhood ahead of her career ambitions. Or will she?

Great bust! I wonder if there is a Duke Cunningham connection somewhere in there. Interestingly, didn’t the Clinton’s “bust” Asian gun smugglers in the mid-nineties…after a Croatian plane crash?
The term used to describe HQ Commandoes is “Spotlight Rangers.” …always on patrol for the shine.

ICE Special Agent Brian Bucaro is the kind of person that should be running ICE not some unqualified feminist political appointee that knows nothing about law enforcement.
Of course GWB has no intention of enforcing our Immigration Laws or Controlling our borders. He is busy behind the scenes trying create the North American Union or SPP.That is why he has for 5 years done everything he can to encourage Illegal Immigration.
If you think this is some conspiracy theory, think again. Read the following links about how GWB is doing an end run around the Constitution to implement the New World Order that daddy Bush so frequently talked about.

Jerome Corsi has been writing researching this for over a year and is afraid we will become another EU called the North American Free Trade Union.

Even though SA Bucaro did a great job on this case, Durrani has been a fugitive for years and Customs/ICE knew exactly where he was all those years. The reason he was not previously arrested was because Mexico would not extradite him for the charged offenses. Further, these type of cases have the lowest priority within ICE because the upper management believe that the FBI should be doing export controll cases and ICE should concentrate on catching undocumented aliens and fighting kiddie porn. No longer is Customs fraud anywhere on the radar. At the morning briefs, the powers to be are only concerned about bed space.
