I remember in the early 1990s, when Michael Landon died from pancreatic cancer. It seems like he had just been diagnosed when he died. He was just 53, I think.
As for Red Dawn, the libs are still calling it a fascist fantasy and the like. They never did understand the threat that we faced from Communism and that we still face from Islamo-fascism and other countries that want to destroy us.

I, too wish Patrick Swayze well. After his death I discovered, through investigation of charities at charitynavigator.com, the Lustgarten Foundation for pancreatic cancer research. My sister and I requested that memorial donations be sent there, we donated, and I continue to donate to Lustgarten, a highly reputable charitable organization trying to beat this aggressive killer. If anyone feels compelled to take action I would encourage you to investigate this charity and to donate.

My father died January 4, 2007 of pancreatic cancer, 6 weeks after diagnosis. At least in the early 80s it was possible to make a movie about fighting against a Communist takeover. I can't conceive of a movie being made today about native-born grass roots Americans fighting against a Muslim takeover or against the Muslims that are trying to destroy our society.
Hopefully he will beat this.

Red Dawn reminds us of how far we have regressed as a civilization. My mother died of Pancreatic Cancer.
Until she contracted the disease, I'd never even heard of it.
She was sick for a long time, but none of the Army doctors at Fort Bragg, North Carolina's Womack Army Medical Center could figure out why.
Finally, they did exploratory surgery and discovered the cancer, but, there was nothing they could do about it.
At the time, I was attending Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and had just enough money, if I was careful, to make one trip.
So, I elected to go visit her while she was still alive, even though it meant I would not be there for her funeral.
It was her idea for me to visit Israel, one of the most memorable and spiritually moving events of my entire life.
Years after her passing, I visited her grave in Riverview Memorial Gardens near Spring Lake, North Carolina, where I placed flowers and a plush stuffed rabbit.
A long time passed (Months? Years?) before I could once again see her grave, and I was truly surprised to see that the plush stuffed rabbit was STILL there!
I thought surely, someone would have stolen it or removed it.
I wrote a letter to the editor of the Fayetteville, North Carolina newspaper, praising and expressing my gratitude to the people of Cumberland County.
I've since learned that Pancreatic Cancer is considered a silent killer, for by the time any symptoms appear, it's already too late to save the patient.
That's why it's almost impossible to save anyone from Pancreatic Cancer, because you have to catch the disease BEFORE the person knows they're sick.
Thank you.

Two or 3 Arab terrorists entered the yeshiva armed with rifles and starting shooting in all directions. At least 6 dead on our side, plus 2 terrorists killed by police. There may be a 3rd who is still being sought by police and special army units inside. The TV reports dozens of wounded. At least one of the dead terrorists seems to be wearing a bomb vest.

Debbie, this is to alert you to a serious terrorist attack in Jerusalem at the Merkaz haRav yeshiva in the Qiryat Moshe neighborhood. Mr Ghost
It's also debatable whether the Soviet Union would have come unravelled had the Afghan war not bled them white. I have mixed opinions about whether the US picked the right side in the 80s - after all, supporting the Afghan jihad (that's what 'Mujahideen' do) not only meant supporting a war against the Soviets, but also backing an Islamic Pakistan, and promoting future terror not just against India, but also worldwide, since KSM did most of his ops from Pakistan. OTOH, had no Afghan war happened, Gorbachev would probably still be running things in the Soviet Union.
As for the Uzbeks, you are right that after 70 years of Communist rule, they had been thoroughly de-islamized. Yet, of the 6 Muslim ex-Soviet republics, they are the most vulnerable to re-Islamizing, since they have as their national hero the 15th century Jihadi conqueror Tamerlane, whose major centers of power - Samarqhand, Bukhara, Ferghana - are all in Uzbekistan. In fact, the Islamic movement of Turkestan - which is an al-Qaeda affiliated outfit with goals on all 5 republics - is primarily composed of Uzbeks, even though as countries, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan seem to have slipped a lot further into the dar-ul-Islam camp, while in Uzbekistan, there is a major crackdown on anybody thought to be following Islam seriously.
A lot of people have been holding up countries like Turkey and Kosovo as model Islamic countries. BS! The only model Muslim countries where Islam has been adequately contained (so far) are Uzbekistan and to a greater extent, Kazakhstan, where its near majority Russian population have kept it in check from falling into the hands of dar ul Islam.

I too wish the best for Patrick Swayze<br

I know you've been very critical of Patrick Swayze, so it was nice to read this. I loved Red Dawn myself, and it was incredibly panned by the critics, of whom 85 percent or so, have a liberal perspective.
An interesting thing to think about, if the U.S. had not intervened in Afghanistan and armed the Mujahdeen against the Russians, would the Taliban and al Qaeda have formed... and thus the attacks on the U.S.?
For all the problems with communism, it has been the most effective system in containing Islamism and liberating Muslim women. In Uzbekistan for example, a hundred years ago, the women lived in villages, wore Parandjas, their version of Abbayas, weren't educated, and were treated like property under Sharia law. Today, thanks to the Russian influence, Uzbek (Muslim) women wear thongs and string bikinis, are educated, no hejab, the vast vast majority reject Sharia law and like Americans.

Hi Debbie,<br

Debbie, you forgot to mention his movie "Roadhouse". I consider "Roadhouse" to be a guy-flick.....serious ass-kickin'bar fights, beautiful women, monster trucks, guns and Sam Elliot (The coolest cowboy and voice in Hollywood). The movie also starred Jeff Healy that died this week.
Thank you Patrick Swayze for sharing your talent with us.

Great actor and a great song!! Debbie, you forgot to mention his movie “Roadhouse”.
