Anti-Israel Whole Foods Wishes You a Happy Ramadan

By Debbie Schlussel

**** UPDATE, 08/09/11: Anti-Israel Whole Foods “Caves” After Schlussel Ramadan Post, But Not Really ****

Don’t be surprised if you hear the words, “Ramadan Mubarak” (a blessed Ramadan), at a Whole Foods near you.  The company is bragging that it is the first national supermarket chain to have a Ramadan marketing campaign, complete with social media.  And the folks at HAMAS financier and unindicted co-conspirator, CAIR Action Network, are have allahgasms about it. I’m not surprised by this development.  As longtime readers know, I haven’t set foot in Whole Paycheck a/k/a Whole Foods since I discovered (and reported to you) that the company was not only selling–but pimping and promoting–“Canaan Fair Trade” and “Palestinian Fair Trade” Olive Oil, olive oil that funds Palestinian Islamic terrorism and its supporters, including, among other things, scholarships at HAMAS terrorism universities.  (More here.)

Whole Foods Wishes Vegan Jihadists a Happy Ramadan

After I wrote about this, Whole Foods PR hacks sent out press releases and e-mails lying and denying.  But none of what the company said was true  and since I wrote about this, I received many reports from Whole Foods customers that Israeli olive oil and other products had been removed from the shelves of many Whole Foods, replaced by the Palestinian terrorism olive oil.  My reports didn’t stop ignoramuses like Michelle Malkin Fraudkin from blindly urging people to buy goods at jihadist-enabling Whole Foods, merely because its CEO was under fire for opposing Obamacare.  Only morons–and that includes Fraudkin, bigtime–believe that the enemy of my enemy is my friend, even when they enable and financially support Islamic terrorism.

And, now, there is the Ramadan crap, solely for monetary reasons.  Yes, like ALL other American corporations, Whole Foods is whoring itself out to Islam for profits.  And as more and more Muslims populate America through immigration and high birth rates, more and more corporations will shill for jihadist interests.  It’s that simple.  We’ve already seen it with Wal-Mart, Best Buy, and others.  And now this from Whole Jihad Foods.  The question is, how long ’til Whole Foods no longer carries pork and other non-halal products?  Answer:  Not long.

Even scarier, the Whole Foods’ Whole Planet Foundation acknowledges “an ongoing charitable relationship” with halal foods maker Saffron Road. What exactly does that mean? Where is that Whole Foods charity money made from your Whole Foods purchases going? Is it going to hateful mosques that openly support Hezbollah and HAMAS (which is pretty much every mosque in America)? Is it going to support extremist Muslim schools? Why take the chance and continue to buy at Whole Foods? You don’t know where your money is going. But, for certain, it’s going for Ramadan promotions and giveaways.

Check out this blatant Islamo-pandering from Whole Foods’ “Whole Story” blog:

More:

Whole Foods has become the first prominent supermarket chain to run a Ramadan marketing campaign–and they’re hoping Muslim customers will return the favor as they break fast. Even though Muslims traditionally forego meals during the day, lavish evening Ramadan meals could mean big bucks for the natural foods giant … as well as brand loyalty from a demographic not traditionally courted by megastore advertising.

Whole Foods is teaming up with Halal frozen entree brand Saffron Road (who sell a variety of Indian-, Thai-, and Moroccan-flavored dinners) to host several promoted blog items on Whole Foods’ website along with sponsored giveaways of Saffron Road food and supermarket gift certificates. Additional content for the campaign is being added by Yvonne Maffei of the My Halal Kitchen blog. While it is a relatively small promotion, it also marks a new benchmark for the Muslim-American community: the first coordinated Ramadan promotion by a national supermarket chain. . . .

The “campaign focuses on reaching Muslim consumers online where they are already having conversations about halal foods, grocery shopping, and preparing for Ramadan,” Saffron Road spokesperson Lisa Mabe tells Fast Company. Saffron Road maintains a heavy social media presence and an ongoing charitable relationship with Whole Foods’ Whole Planet foundation, and hopes the promotion will further strengthen their brand awareness. . . .

With Whole Foods’ self-consciously granola self-presentation and liberal-, cosmopolitan-skewing customer base, they are the ideal chain to attempt a marketing project aimed squarely at Muslim-American consumers.

Here’s a tip, Whole Foods: there is NOTHING “cosmopolitan” about Islam. In fact, Islam is the antonym to cosmopolitan. Retro is in. Retro back to the year 622 and the values of savages will NEVER be in.

Whole Foods . . . For the Organically Conscious Jihadist. Way more humane because, hey, “free range chickens” can run away from the IED. allahu natural fruitbar.

I am a libertarian, gun owning, America loving Muslim, and its just sad when I see one sided, irrational, and completely stupid articles like this with information missing or skewed. The comments are worse, with more misinformation and lies to provoke hate. Some of us right leaning people can be so damn stupid. As ignorant as the liberals are. I was raised Muslim, so I know false information when I see it. Debbie, I like your articles about second amendment rights and such, but I don’t think I’ll be reading your articles any more, not that you’d care.

Imran on August 7, 2011 at 3:44 pm

“libertarian, gun owning, America loving Muslim”

only in America! Good for you Imran!

CJ on August 10, 2011 at 9:33 am

I would hardly call this an “article”. Articles tend to be fact-checked, which this clearly is not.

BP on August 10, 2011 at 6:38 pm

Your article is a total lie with NO EVIDENCE to back it up. What makes you think a company who markets itself to every holiday, including ALL HOLIDAYS REGARDLESS of religion, is anti Israel?

What’s next? Brits claiming Whole Foods is anti Britain for marketing for St Patrick’s day?

Your hatred of Muslims is no different than the hatred of Jews in Nazi Germany.

James on August 7, 2011 at 5:30 pm

“Your hatred of Muslims is no different than the hatred of Jews in Nazi Germany.”

Speaking as a non Jew/Muslim/Christian, That is the most ignorant statement I have read this year.

Steven on August 10, 2011 at 5:58 pm

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has found no evidence to claims by some bloggers on the Internet that Whole Foods Market is “anti-Israel.”

In particular, some have specifically criticized a Whole Foods seasonal promotion around halal foods that meet the company’s high quality standards. Such criticism is misguided, inappropriate and contrary to American values. We live in a multicultural, multi-ethnic and multi-faith society.

Just as Whole Foods provides prepared food, recipes, and specialty items (including products imported from Israel) to Jewish customers for Passover and other holiday observances, it is entirely fitting for them to do the same for customers marking Muslim, Hindu and other religious festivals.

James on August 7, 2011 at 5:34 pm

Why is my simple comment from 8/5 still awaiting moderation?

Steve Jackson on August 8, 2011 at 9:01 am

You are ingorant. Your pride in this fault will prevent you from seeing anything but the frothy hate leaking from the sides of your mouth as you blithely lie and jump to the conclusions that frame your “article”. I think I stepped in some “article”, please clean up after yourself.

Rt on August 9, 2011 at 6:56 pm

Is this article a joke? It HAS to be…she cannot be serious!

TeeBee on August 9, 2011 at 7:57 pm

wow.. Muslims and Jews alike don’t eat pork, so why are you standing up for Jews and not Muslims? Can’t this article be considered hate speech? can’t she be thrown in prison for this?

Mo Diggity on August 9, 2011 at 9:24 pm

Lame lame… what a way of promoting hatred and racism in the society. shame on you…

Steve Johnson on August 9, 2011 at 9:37 pm

The Catholics were pretty horrible people to non-Catholics during several instances in human history. When McDonald’s offers it Filet-O-Fish during Lent, is that an passive endorsement of these evil acts as well? Put your religion and any of its traditions and traditional foods in this context and then demonstrate your outrage. Until then… zita!

bellinghambay on August 9, 2011 at 10:05 pm

You are an ignorant fool Debbie. They should put a muzzle on you while a hundred men rip into you like the whore you are.

John on August 9, 2011 at 11:19 pm

Debbie, will you just shut up! Everything you spout out is nothing but lies and calumnious hate propaganda.

This is EXACTLY what the Nazis did in Germany towards the Jews.

Dan on August 10, 2011 at 2:17 am

I totally agree with you. We need respect tolerance and coexistence. We need to plant seeds of love not to promote hate… we need peace.. not war

FYI I’m Jewish and I live my life in Harmony with the rest of the people in USA

    4PEACE on August 10, 2011 at 11:26 am

Debbie:

Wait. There’s no issue or protest if, between Oct. 31 – Dec. 31, a person enters a retailer and hears, “Merry Christmas”?

Why, then, the protest against retailers saying, “Ramadan Mubarak” during the time Muslims enter their establishments during the time of Ramadan?

Hypocrite!

Muslim does not equate to anti-Jew/Israel/anti-American or anti-anything good & proper!

And PLEASE….is it the Islamaphobes “talking point” to continue to lie about CAIR? The more you all do that, the stupider you look in the eyes of those with common sense and decency.

DeucePrez on August 10, 2011 at 5:28 am

The author of this blog is absolutely full of crap!

Good on August 10, 2011 at 5:30 am

This might be the most ignorant, shameful, and disgusting excuse for an “article” I have ever read. I only hope that the people who read this shlock were raised to be more tolerant (or maybe “human” is a better word) than you, since you clearly have no experience in the field. Nobody asks that you enjoy everyone else’s presence, but at least make an effort to be less of a bigot when you write. Please get a grip.

tk on August 10, 2011 at 5:43 am

I am impressed by the comments on this article, after reading this article i would have had very anti-America type of feelings, but the comments have made me realize its a small minority in west who hates Muslims, like it’s a small minority of Muslims who do not want peace.
For the blogger: shame on you for promoting hate !!

S Qureshi on August 10, 2011 at 6:12 am

Let me see now, because SOME Muslim extremists (not my term) are intent on killing “Christians”, then any attempt to market a product to Muslim’s is anti-American. So, by that logic, since SOME Jew’s condemned Jesus to death, and SOME Roman’s carried out that execution, and SOME Catholic leader’s carried out the Inquisition, I suppose marketing to Jew’s, Italians, and Catholic’s would be anti-American.

You remind me of 1984: Quack, Quack, Quack. Your lips move, but I can’t hear what you’re saying…

BTW: I am a Christian (Big C, not fake little “c” Christians)…

The fact that people who think like you do actually exist is nothing short of heartbreaking.

Martin on August 10, 2011 at 9:33 am

Wow, your article is so unbelievably hypocritical! I’m assuming your abhorrence for Muslims and Islam comes from the so called Islamic terrorism? How can you generalize a one billion strong community on the actions of a handful of people? In doing so, you’re just falling prey to the accusations you’re making yourself, like hateful and ignoramus. Islam is a religion that advocates peace. You cannot hold it and its followers responsible for the actions of people that totally misinterpret the religion and commit such horrifying acts. They’re not even Muslims even if they claim to be.
If companies and supermarkets are free to sell anything and everything, what’s wrong with halal food? Whatever happened to equality and freedom? Or are those just outdated words limited to your history textbooks? A lot of those ‘Muslim immigrants’ are American citizens that pay tax dollars.
If I followed the example you were setting, I’d brand the entire population of Britain anarchists and terrorists based on the riots caused by a few in London.
Try to educate yourself before you spew words of hate. You’re basically doing the same thing you’re condemning. There’s a lot more to be said, but you’re so set in your own pathetic and limited ideas it would be a total waste of time.

I am glad that so many people are finally speaking up to jews labeling everything and everyone “anti-semite and anti israel. There is freedom of speech in this country only as long as you don’t upset the jewish community. I recommend that everyone read the book “israel lobby and US foreign policy to understand what is really going on in America. If wholefoods is anti-israel for mentioning the word Ramadan than all the schools that close on jewish holidays are anti-christian.

wow its ok for whole foods to sell kosher foods but not halal foods sounds a little odd to me i work for a whole foods on the east coast and i’m also a muslim, fully covered muslim women and they also have male muslims that work there too so are you really mad now! At the end of the day you’ll have to answer to Allah (God) for your actions, one things for certain and two things are for sure death will come to us all, you’ll see then and you’ll wish you never acted in such ignorance!

Good for you! It’s nice to see that not everyone is a bigot in this country.

Kim on August 10, 2011 at 4:48 pm

Are you so completely insecure in your own beliefs that you feel threatened by the mere fact that a nation-wide chain of food stores sells holiday foods for someone different than you? That says a very great deal about your own faith, and lack thereof. To you, Jesus is so weak, and his teachings so meaningless, that they can be defeated by a ready-to-eat dinner. You truly are a joke. Personally, I am a non-moslem American, who believes in separating Church from Hate.

Daniel on August 10, 2011 at 4:53 pm

You know Debbie, there is a word for a woman like you. It’s a word that I take rather seriously, and one that I would never call any respectable person.

In any event, Debbie, you are a cunt. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t wish upon you anything near as bad as other commenters (come on James, gang rape?). All I wish is for you to stop polluting our country with hatred. Your hatred inspires hatred, either against Muslims or against you. You might think your law degree has entitled you to say whatever the fuck you want, but you are far from an academic. As you should know, a smart attorney should always be able to understand and argue both sides of an issue, and yet your vitriol is always one-sided (and a radical side, to boot). And a real professional would use their law degree to advance justice and the rights of others; instead, you seek to inhibit the religious rights of Muslims. You are a hypocrite, especially if you are indeed Jewish because such intolerance is NO DIFFERENT than that of the Nazis. As such, you are a cunt. Congratulations.

I hate hate mongerers on August 10, 2011 at 4:54 pm

This is very funny actually! She is so racist, she sounds stupid.
“Schlussel’s unique expertise on radical Islam/Islamic terrorism and a host of other issues make her a popular speaker and television and radio news talk show guest, both nationally & internationally.” she’s popular because she is crazy. We like watching and hearing crazy people talk.

Esther on August 10, 2011 at 5:24 pm

Im glad to see that whole foods is taking a step torwards muslims and just trying to treat them a little bit more like how christians are treated durinf chrismas time, as for this article, it is garbage. This has no no proof and it is just stupid, people who write articles like this embarrass America, so it is best for all of you haters out there to learn the truth about Islam besides going off what the media says. Youll be surprised by the praticality.

Anti-Israel? Yes, I am definitely Anti-Israel. I have lived in the illegally occupied territories for 3 months documenting the attrocities committed against the Palestinians by the rascist Israeli Military and its people. It’s apartheid at its ugliest! And, no, I am not Palestinian.

I am a muslim and did’nt know that the Whole Food is selling Halal Food. I am going there afternoon and will get some Halal Food packets. Debbie, grow up and make peace with muslims, anti muslim setiments will lead you no where.

MJ on August 10, 2011 at 5:48 pm

Jews and Muslims alike do not eat pork, halal is the equivalent of Kosher. Funny how if you accommodate Muslims or Arabs in any way you automatically become anti Israel or anti-semitic. The world is NOT out to get you!!!

HC on August 10, 2011 at 5:49 pm

1. Halal is not the equivalent of Kosher, but many Muslims will eat kosher because they find the method acceptable for their purposes, if no meat slaughtered by a Muslim is available.

2. The larger point is ignored here, because of some false equivalency on the part of the outraged: You can market Christmas, and Passover, etc. because the proceeds for the sales of those goods do not end up in the hands of terrorists.

Her point, which she is making badly, is that products that would benefit Israel are removed, and products whose sale allow for moneys to go to terrorists are put on the shelves.

If this were a rant about Judaism v. Christian holidays, I would agree with you. There is nothing equivalent about promoting a holiday for a faith that holds at its deepest core that the whole world should belong to Allah, and that non-Muslims would be “allowed” to exist in a Muslim world. Distasteful on its own, but when coupled with the over 17,000 acts of jihad toward that goal since 9/11, I think you can dismiss the silly moral equivalency notions.
