Debbie Does Sports: Separated @ Birth?–Heisman Trophy Winner Sam Bradford & . . .

By Debbie Schlussel
. . . Heisman Trophy Winner Jim Plunkett? My friend, Brett Winterble of Covert Radio Show, thinks so. And, check it out, he’s right–there is a resemblance. Plunkett is of Hispanic heritage (and possibly Native American, as was claimed in some reports, but is in dispute–the NYTimes still claims Plunkett is). Sam Bradford, who won the Heisman over the weekend, is a Native American, or as I call it, American Indian–a Cherokee.
When I was in high school in the mid-’80s, our family was vacationed at “The Ranch at McCormick Inn” at Scottsdale, Arizona, and Jim Plunkett was staying there, too. We found this out because my sisters and I inadvertently splashed him from the pool. People said to us: Do you know who you just splashed? We didn’t. But he was a nice guy about it and even signed footballs. It was right after he and his Raiders teammates won the Superbowl. And I can see the resemblance (Bradford is on the left):

Back when Plunkett was QB for Stanford my dad was a season ticket holder. I think I went to every home game at Stanford leading up to the Indians going to the Rosebowl. Yes, the Indians – this was before universities began divesting of non-PC mascots. Or course Stanford went on to be the Cardinal, but back in the day Prince Lightfoot would do a little dance everytime the Indians scored. From the seats my dad had, I could just fling a malt top onto the field. Good times!

I’m always amazed by the fact that American Indians would still be living firmly in the stone-age had European settlers not intervened. For G-d’s sake, they hadn’t even invented the wheel and were still dragging their loads behind horses with two poles and we were doing trans-oceanic travel, astronomy, firearms, chemistry, fine art, etc.
I still regularly encounter ignorant Neo-libs (I know, redundant) who try to assert that living in “cold climates” spurred Western civilizations by forcing them to adapt, plan and create and I love to shut them by asking, “if dealing with cold weather is the only difference in our cultures and responsible for progress, then shouldn’t Eskimos rule the Earth by now?”
Yeah, sure, we’re all equal and there’s no such thing as race.

What an ignorant comment….even if it was 2 years ago. Who are you to say what progress is? Were they not happy. Fuck you

There is a strong resemblance. It shouldn’t come as a surprise. Plunkett (Father was of Irish-German descent) is half Mexican (Mother) descent and about 90% of Mexicans in America are mainly of Indian blood. The well off rich “weto or guero” (White) Mexican never had to migrate north because they are still living off the established aristocratic Spanish largess. Recently even the “weto” Spanish Mexicans are now legally migrating (with vast wealth) north because they are fearing for their lives as kidnapping has gone out of control in Mexico.
