I loathe the word and do not let people call me an "expert" in anything. I don't mind being called a "specialist" in narrow areas where I have a lot of knowledge and experience; particularly professional. However, I do not like the word "expert" and immediately become suspicious of anyone claiming to be one. Maybe that's why Steve Emerson's claim to be a "terrorism expert" is an immediate red flag to me; long before you exposed him for plaigerizing your work.
