Illegal immigration south of the border has been a phenomena for over 100 years. Since 1986 after the Reagan Amnesty, free-trade was the blueprint of future policies. NAFTA was created. American owned factories sprung up on the southern side of the border to take advantage of industrious Mexican labor and to evade environmental, workplace regulation in the U.S. So as Americans were losing their jobs and went to Mexico it was the policies created by Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush Jr, and the Republican Congress that created this. Now Conservatives and Republicans bitch, scream and moan about how Mexico is screwing them. During the 90s when Gingrich was in power he and Clinton strong armed Congress to pass NAFTA. Illegals were still flowing in and Gingrich didn’t hold up Congress to stop illegal immigration. Too concerned about Blow Jobs in the White House I guess. Now Bush, Jr., gets elected and illegal immigration is still occurring. Wow, I guess that heavy lobbying by the Chamber of Commerce and corporations got them to look the other way. So many people were making money, lets not let something called our national sovereignty get in the way of making money. Again Americans get screwed. I know so many American Building Contractors, Farm Labor Contractors, Small Businesses who made loads of money off illegal immigrants. Does it justify their existence, HELL NO!! We know live with the consequences of those who used them as modern day mules so they could live in those gated communities. A lot of that GOOD CALIFORNIA LIVING was on the foundation of illegal alien Mexicans working in the hot sun to put up those houses on those prime real estate atop those canyons. So when we want to line people up as the guilty, it first has to start with the American policies that created this gold rush for illegal Mexican labor. Mexicans didn’t take over Congress and the Presidency and created those policies. The biggest laugh I get is they steal jobs. No some AMERICAN GAVE them that job. Let me repeat that: Some AMERICAN GAVE them that job. Saying that they steal jobs takes the guilt away from the American who gave them that job.
The solution should be build a wall, require e-verify and shut down business that hire illegals, deny services to illegals and deport those that are caught. The U.S. should have fair trade with Mexico to strengthen labor on both sides. As both economies grow there wont be a magnet to come. The problem is we are screwed because we are now owned by China. Again trade policies got us so addicted to cheap Chinese products and indebted to China’s credit.
The politics of LaRaza, which I despise, it parallel to the victimization created by liberals to shackle African-Americans. I don’t see myself as a victim. I don’t want a check or affirmative action. LaRaza is a race-baiting group like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.
I comment on this site because I share many of the views with Debbie and if I thought she was racist I wouldn’t post here. I honestly believe she is too intelligent and has moral convictions not to believe one group of people are superior to another. Regardless if others will post a racist comment or not.

Luis: Stop making excuses. Mexico is and always has been a hellhole in spite of the fact that it is a country with vast natural resources and oil. The question is why, with all her wealth, Mexico is mired in corruption and poverty? Could it be the culture and character of the people? It’s not OUR fault that Mexico can’t pull itself into the 21st century. Colombia is doing a good job, why can’t Mexico?

I don’t buy or sell to them. The way of the transgressor is hard. God makes it hard. I suspect you’re my neighbor not FAR away as you claim.

Your desire that mexicans just “go away” is unfortunately to you not feasible no matter how hard you wish. This attitude can give you maybe some emotional relief, but won’t get you an inch closer to your goal. So yell all you like. Fortunately I live very far from the US so I don’t take your rants personally.

I just try to open some eyes here that it is necesary that the US stop blaming the universe for their problems, step down from your false moral high grounds and start to see their faults where they are, not with shame (a la Obama) but with practicality.

There are many things I admire from the americans and practicality used to be one of them, but right now americans in general are hell bent on taking offense for everything instead of simply doing what’s needed with a cool head.

If the U.S. needs to become an isolationist country for a while to take care of out illegal alien problem, then so be it. We have enough problems here without adding to it with 20 million illegals.

You are right that the worst of the Mexican culture has met the worst of the American culture. But that is a law enforcement issue, not an immigration problem. There is no way you can justify the drug problem, or other problems with illegals, by saying they are just satisfying an American illegal drug problem. Neither should be doing this and your logic is flawed. You cannot justify bad behavior by pointing to worse bad behavior.

Another point that you try to make about helping Mexico come up to the standards of the U.S. is something that should not be a concern for the U.S. It is not our fault that Mexico is a third world pissant country. They should fix their own problems. The U.S. is not obligated to fix and help Mexico. Mexico has enough of its own resources to become a civilized country along the same standards that the U.S. has today. If Mexico truly wanted to raise itself up, it could. Why don’t you start a revolution to throw out your corrupt leaders, incarcerate and / or kill your drug cartels and other scum, and put in its place a government that can tackle the everday problems in Mexico and create an atmosphere where the rule of law is predominent and encourage a true free market system?

As to the jobs that Americans won’t do, right now you can bet your a$$ that many Americans would jump at the opportunity to do these jobs in these tough economic times. I also believe that any company in the U.S. that hires illegals should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. In fact, we should make these laws even tougher where there are mandatory jail sentences for the heads of these companies that hire illegals.

Finally, even though McCain is an American war hero, the stand he takes on the illegal alien issue is Un-American. He is a liberal, amnesty loving, Democrat a$$-kissing, let’s be nice to the terrorists, traitor to the conservative movement, political weasel. And I am putting that mildly. There is no way he should have been the Republican candidate for the Presidency.

I am sorry to report that we don’t need you. Go away!

Your corrupt little country needs attention and you should give it to them. Reform your own country so it’s a good place to live.
