isPermaLink="false">http://www.debbieschlussel.com/?p=9981#comment-103701

Once upon a time I could turn on the radio and hear the latest records by musicians like Stevie Wonder, Steely Dan, Earth Wind and Fire, Weather Report, etc, etc, and be lifted by music - real music, that was new and exciting. Then a strange thing happened. Someone showed up with a video camera. And music, which had always had a connection in some way to fashion,became almost exclusively fashion. And fashion has always contained a finite element of the allure of evil and decadence. Playwright David Mamet, who thankfully has found his inner Jew and inner conservative in the past few years, has written that fashion is all about the misearble side of the human condition (eg. the "heroin chic look", the "lustfull pre-adolescent girl look" ,peasant dress, etc, etc.) and I agree somewhat. When MTV took over popular music, fashion took it over along with it. Okay, before then the Beatles were in some way a fashion statement, and similar things could be said for some other performers...but fashion was not the main driving force. These days, fashion: the look-of-the-day (often trashier than the day before) , along with a mindset that compliments it and trashes decency, have often come to replace "music". Btw, this "artist" needs to change his name, to something like "Excremento". Pardon my punctuation
