Debbie Schlussel: Save Your Money: Don't See Violent "Lord of War" Propaganda Film
The movie, "Lord of War"--out this weekend, is getting a lot of hype as a comedy about an arms dealer. But it's not funny. And it's not good, either.
Not to mention, it's a propaganda film. And a poor way to continue the movie career of aging, dull Nicholas Cage.
The movie is too long, violent, disgusting, and anti-American.
Of course, you don't get to see the anti-American part until the end (though it's in the back of your mind throughout). Even though the movie is about a sleazy Ukrainian-born American arms dealer, the end of the movie tells us that we are to think of this sleazebag murder-enabler as the United States and other Western World countries which are the worlds biggest arms dealers and who shouldn't sit on the U.N. Security Council, but do.
Remember this the next time actors Nicholas Cage, Jared Leto, and Bridget Moynahan (girlfriend of New England Patriots' Quarterback Tom Brady) want you to attend another of their pieces of celluloid crap.
