Debbie Schlussel: Cause for Glee: More "Air America" Liberal Radio Failure

By Debbie Schlussel

The brief liberal radio "career" of shrieking blonde annoyance Nancy Skinner is a great illustration of the continuing failure of liberal talk radio, specifically "Air America."

Just several months ago, Skinner was lauded in a glowing Detroit News feature for her new show on Detroit's "Air America" affiliate (the dimwit Detroit News reporter, Susan Whitall, kept calling Al Aqsa--as in Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade--"El Oxa"; guess she thought it was a Mexican mariachi band). But she and her show lasted just a half a year (or less) on the air as the liberal morning radio host on Air America's WDTW. As reported by the Detroit Free Press' John Smyntek, Democracy Radio, which was paying Skinner's salary, RAN OUT OF MONEY. Pity.

Free Press political reporter Dawson Bell reports that Skinner's and WDTW's "share of the local radio audience is too small to measure" by Arbitron's ratings system. What a smashing success this "Air America" is.

Skinner will now run against Republican U.S. Congressman Joe Knollenberg. We predict it will probably be as successful as her failed 2004 race for the U.S. Senate in Illinois, where she was also a failed liberal radio talk show host (Chicago's WLS). In that case, we think we'll recommend the Libertarian. Knollenberg has a record of wasting U.S. tax dollars on his Hezbollah terrorist buddies, and getting campaign contributions from them for his and kiddie's campaigns in exchange (detailed here and here).
