Debbie Schlussel: Kaare Kristiansen, RIP: Brave Norwegian Resigned From Nobel Committee Over Arafat "Peace" Prize
With great sadness, we mourn the passing of Kaare Kristiansen, the brave, principled Norwegian who resigned from the Nobel Prize Committee in disgust over its absurd peace prize to Terrorist-In-Chief Yasser Arafat.
In a day when American jurors don't have the minimum guts and the basic decency to convict the chief and founder of Islamic Jihad (Sami Al-Arian) and Steven Spielberg is making movies denouncing justice for the Munich Olympics terrorists, Kristiansen's courage was especially unique. It was also unique because his own State, Norway, supports this strange new respect for Islamic terrorists and disdain for its innocent victims.
But Kaare Kristiansen was different from his countrymen. He had real courage and did the right thing. In resigning and protesting the outrageous award, Kristiansen said the Palestinian leader was "tainted with violence, terrorism and bloodshed."

The son of a Lutheran pastor, Kristiansen led Norway's Christian Democratic Party and served as Norway's Oil Minister as part of its center-right coalition.
Kristiansen's courage will be missed, and we wish it were not so unique. But, sadly, these days it is.
Kaare Kristiansen. Rest In Peace.
