Debbie Schlussel: New Mexico Seeks $200 Million from US to Waste on Spaceport
You've probably read about New Mexico's planned $225 million "spaceport in the desert," a "partnership" with British billionaire Richard Branson.
Press reports make it sound as if Branson is fronting the $225 mill for this boondoggle. But he isn't. You are--if you are a U.S. taxpayer.
The problem is Branson isn't an investor at all--even though the $225 mill is chump change for him. Nope. He gets to charge $200,000 per flight from this "spaceport" after the federal government gives him and New Mexico the money to build it.
Where's the outrage on this fleecing of America by a British Billionaire and New Mexico's liberal governor, Clintonista Bill Richardson? What's next--U.S. taxpayers fronting cash for Donald Trump and his various "Apprentice" projects?
Remember this when border-delinquent, fake baseball-draftee Democrat Richardson runs for President as rumored, in 2008.
