Debbie Schlussel: Weight Watchers $$ + Left-Wing = Stupid
Did you read the absurd article on a visit to Israel by Ariella Lis, in today's Detroit Free Press? Don't waste your time.
Ms. Lis, the spoiled granddaughter of far-left Weight-Watchers franchise gazillionaire and Clintonista Florine Mark, is a proud graduate of falsely-named "Seeds of Peace." The moral equivalency summer camp founded by Yasser Arafat's favorite biographer is a favorite cause of Lis' rich Granny, who is a high dollar donor. The camp--usually populated by ignorant children of Israeli and American leftists and their much wiser Islamic, terror-supporting counterparts--supports the all-sides-are-equal philosophy (including Holocaust denial which has been legitimized at the camp). The children of, say, Bin Laden, could meet the children of 9/11 victims, agree that both sides are morally equal and then play volleyball/go canoeing. Some alums of the camp have become Islamic terrorists, and its most famous graduate is pan-Islamic terrorist Adam Shapiro. Today, "Seeds of Peace" is run by one of Bill Clinton's chief architects of Israel's destruction, the ever rude and obnoxious Aaron David Miller.
We see Ms. Lis--whose "classy" father Hanan proudly brought Leonard Nimoy to Detroit to display his photo book of nudie women adorned with Jewish religious paraphernalia--has learned well from both the camp and her relatives. When we last saw her, she and Grandma Florine were on the cover of the Detroit Free Press showing their support to Clinton during the height of his impeachment--at a high dollar fundraiser.
Today, the stupidity continues. Most of the article is just plain dumb and pointless. But this part is ridiculous:
Just as we began with walls around our own emotions and any sense of place in this country, we realized the emotional uncertainty and complicated self-identify that many Israelis feel.Israel has a physical and emotional barrier that surrounds the country. [This was, predictably, the sentence the Detroit Free Press jumped and highlighted.] Its population has been forced to put up a . . . psychological structure to project its history, identity and future. Although we were only visitors, we became as confused as our Israeli peers, a confusion that makes us even more Israeli.
HUH? We're glad Ms. Lis' pop psychology education at Northwestern University has come in so handy.
Here's a clue that the inane Ms. Lis probably didn't glean from the "Seeds of Peace" commune: Israel is under attack by terrorists, just as our country was on 9/11 and continues to be. Stupid articles about "confusion, emotional uncertainty, and complicated self-identity" don't help that. They're just . . . well, stoooopid.
Contrary to Ms. Lis' bloated assertions, Israel has built no emotional barriers to protect its history, identity, and future. In fact, it has unfortunately allowed Muslims to encroach upon the holiest of Jewish and Christian sites--the Temple Mount in Jerusalem and locations of significance in Jesus' life, in Nazareth--all in the name of political correctness and mosque-building and expansion for Muslims. If this is not freely giving away history, identity, AND future, what is?
And there are countless examples of this, none of which were included in Ms. Lis' vapid article about how she developed a preference for Israeli pop, but forgot to charge up her iPod--along with her rich, liberal buddies who spent a few days in Israel. All of this qualifies her to suddenly diagnose a variety of psychoses in the current Israeli State. But not a single word defending the country or saying something useful--which was the reason for her tax-deductible trip organized by the left-dominated Jewish Federation of Metro Detroit.
The forces of Islamo-fascist evil are resting happy that these are the types of incompetent spokespeople that are supposed to be their opponents.
