Debbie Schlussel: Feel Old?: Charlie's Angels in Their 60s
**** SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATE ****
Even though this site is mostly about politics, national security, and Islam, it's also about pop culture, including movie reviews. And even though I usually skewer Hollywood, it was cool to see the three original "Charlie's Angels" in last night's Emmy Awards tribute to the late producer Aaron Spelling, who created the show.
When I was a kid, watching that show was one of my guilty pleasures. I had the Charlie's Angels dolls, the doll clothes, the van, etc. So it's odd to note that one is in her sixties and the others almost there. Despite that fact, they all looked good--with the exception of plastic surgery victim Farrah Fawcett. Fawcett is 59, Kate Jackson almost 58, and Jaclyn Smith is almost 61.

Guess which one was my favorite "Charlie's Angel"? . . .

**** UPDATE, 08/29/06: Reader Susie B. writes:
Bless you! I just watched an old episode of the show last week (a rarity since I have two small children and a husband and never get the house to myself), and I loved every minute of it. I'm 35, and have many fond memories of the ultra fashionable, feminine but strong women. They rocked! Jaclyn Smith was my favorite too.
Reader Rona writes:
Regarding Charlie's Angels, my favorite is Jaclyn Smith who still looks classy. I always said when I grew up I wanted to be elegant like Jaclyn Smith. . . . Compared to the Lindsay Lohans and Paris Hiltons, these ladies were quite tame. In fact they were. They acted with much more esteemed actors such as John Forsyth, the late Dean Martin and countless others, plus there show was not about getting over on men for power and sex, which these current icons promote. Who does this current generation have for examples? Well Britney Spears emulates Madonna. Guess that says it all.
AMEN! That's why I liked "Charlie's Angels."
