Debbie Schlussel: My Interview with Al-Arabiya

By Debbie Schlussel

Today, I taped a lengthy interview with Dubai-based Arabic TV network, Al-Arabiya, a rival network to the Terrorist News Network, Al-Jazeera (which I've also done). (Here's a BBC profile of Al-Arabiya.)

It was for a September 11th fifth-year anniversary program to air on September 15th on "The Third Eye." The interview will be part of an in-depth piece on America's Islamic community, profiling, etc. post-9/11.

We'll see how I come off after the editing process.

****UPDATE: Forgot to mention that the reporter and producer told me that the Islamic community in Dearborn does not like that I go undercover to some of their events. Too bad. If there weren't two faces to their message, I wouldn't need to go behind the mask of PR spin that is their public message to show you the real one.

The difference between their events and ours is eye-opening. If a Muslim came to our synagogues or fundraising dinners under cover, they would not hear hate toward Muslims--as I hear at their events toward Jews, Christians, and Americans. They wouldn't hear prayers and moments of silence "for the martyrs" and various terrorist groups. We don't have prayers and sermons about those things.

Our prayers are about bringing peace and prosperity to our community, our greater community, and our country, which is America. At the Islamic events I've gone to, it is sometimes questionable which county is their's, but it's usually quite evident it isn't America.
