Debbie Schlussel: The Suicide of Brandy Britton: Women's Studies Prof/Federal Grant Defrauder/Prostitute/Pig Owner
A year ago, I wrote about Brandy M. Britton. A women's studies professor, she was caught falsifying data on a wasteful study funded by over a 1/2 million of our tax dollars.
Down and out on her luck because of her own bad deeds, her house was in foreclosure, and she became a prostitute, charging up to $2,500 per "experience." She was caught and charged after neighbors complained about her two pet pigs.
Tragically, Dr. Britton committed suicide over the weekend. She was found hanged on Saturday. But I'm not celebrating. As mean as some may think I am, I feel sorry for this woman and her desperate situation (of her own doing), and I have compassion for her.

With a little help, this woman could have turned her life around. She could have made a career proclaiming that the "liberation" of the so-called women's studies she once taught was not so liberating after all: She resorted to falsifying data on violence against women and then to prostitution.
And most of all, she could have stayed alive to take care of her two children, said to be almost grown. They are now without a parent (being a feminist, she was a single mother). In this case, taking her own life, was not only sad, it was selfish. And it is as stark a lesson as their can be: feminism isn't the panacea. On the contrary, it's often the ill for which a panacea is badly needed.
I hope that she rests in peace her two children get the love and attention they need from someone else. But I hope we recognize that this woman was given every opportunity possible by academia and our tax dollars, just because she was a woman--and a woman with the right far-left theology at that. Many Americans would kill--and not themselves--for the opportunities and benefits that she received and squandered.
Brandy Britton, Rest in Peace.
Thanks to Reader John for the tip.
