Debbie Schlussel: Nutjobs Within: The Americans Who Love Ahmadinejad
Every day or so, I visit Iranian Leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's website. Not to amuse myself with his insane rantings--those are a given. I read it (in English--I'm not a Farsi specialist) to remind myself that America has far too many kooks in our midst. And it's not just the 9/11 "Truthers."
Read Ahmadinejad's site and look in the right-hand side. There are a myriad of new e-mails every day from Ahmadinejad's fans all over the world. Many of them are from the U.S. Their comments are sickening. They act as thousands of verbal Monica Lewinsky's to the modern day Hitler.
Here's a selection from the latest "offerings":

Fred Thornton Cur...@gmail.comGreat site,Thank you very much Dr.Ahmadinejad for standing up for the truth and for standing up to evil and as a white male in the U.S. I give my full to you your country and i send you many blessings.

Autm Eleven aut...@yahoo.comYour using your position of power very wisely. May Wisdom and Justice bless your reign.

Aaron C.President Ahmadinejad, I appreciate your faith in the people of my nation. It is difficult even for me, a citizen, to imagine that we Americans may have some inexpendible virtues to offer the world. God bring America and Iran closer rather than further.

Alex Wuori zyp...@yahoo.comYou may find this following comment strange. I am an American citizen. I am weakly agnostic. However, I positively absolutely feel that you should be allowed to have nuclear capabilities, for peaceful or military intentions. America needs to stop being able to push everyone around just because it and its allies are the only ones who have nukes. (China has them too, but they wouldnt stand up to America.) We need someone strong like you to stand up the big bully of the world. We need someone like you to unite the middle east against the imperialism of America. The world needs you, Ahmadinejad. You must not falter.
Yes, there are plenty of Americans--your neighbors and mine--who want us to die, who worship at the alter of this madman who would destroy us.
Reading Ahmadinejad's site, one can only conclude that if the Internet was around in the time of the first Hitler, we'd be in big trouble. Or perhaps, not be, period.
