Check out these images from NASA's Phoenix Mars Lander, taken while and after it landed on the planet, Monday.
Press reports say it spent the first full day, Memorial Day, checking instruments in preparation for a digging mission to study whether the Martian arctic plains could have once been habitable (and perhaps whether it could be in the future).
BTW, President Jack Nicholson tried to appease Martians as badly as President Bush has tried over 7.5 years to appease the Muslims who hate us. And look what happened:
