OK, people... Here's another update regarding our jihad "journalist", Belaal Simjee. This came to me from Nichol Smith, Executive Editor of The Daily Titan at CSUF:

"I wanted to follow up with the email that Ms. Schlussel received,
allegedly from one of our Daily Titan reporters. I spoke with the
student, my managing editor and the Daily Titan's faculty advisor about
the issue.

Mr. Simjee reported that a friend of his, who had access to his email,
sent the message without Mr. Simjee's knowledge. When I showed him a
copy of the message, he looked quite shocked and disappointed that
something like this could happen.

Mr. Simjee was instructed to change his email account and write his own
letter of apology.

On behalf of Mr. Simjee and the Daily Titan staff, I would like to
express my sincerest apologies for the offense. It is not the policy of
this student newspaper to condone such unprofessional and tasteless
actions."

So, now that he's been called out for his little red crescent compunction, he's claiming innocence (err... GUILT!) by association. What a morass of cowardly convenience. Just claim it was a "friend" with access to the e-mail account. Hmmm... Now let me count how many "friends" of mine that have access to my e-mail and how many friends of mine that allow me to access their e-mail account... Uhhh.... ZERO! NIL! NONE! He must have looked "shocked and disappointed" because he's been exposed for trying to pull the hijab over our eyes!

I'd say forgive him, ONLY if the paper puts out a two-page apology to Debbie. That the person accused by Editor Nicole Smith of the Daily Titan as well as the editorial staff attend a senstivity training class for more than a month. Also, a class on journalism ethics and a donation to Debbie.

But I wrote a letter to the editor to Nicole Smith

I attached the offending mail and said this:

Dear Editor:

Apparently, your upstanding newpaper was marred when a staff member or who knows, sent a scathing letter to conservative columnist Debbie Schlussel. According to editor Debbie M. Smith, the comments written by Belal Simjee was false and a fellow student actually sent the offensive mail.

This e-mail I read,

Is libelous, as well as full of gross factual error and poor grammar. I guess it explains the poor writing. It wasn't written by a journalist...or was it?

Yet is it possible that Smith has no control of the paper? Imagine the he CSU board as well as the state and federal department of education remove funding from the journalism department? Censorship is wrong but self-censorship based on stupidity, because the lack of self-control, self-regulation or self-discipline is downright asisnine. Good luck getting a job Nicole, because some "acquaintance" decided to beesmirch the name of Debbie Schlussel, using a pseudonym...of a staff membe and may cost you your chances of having a career in journalism.

P.S. This should be in the Darwin Award.

Well, finally we have a resolution to the situation. My new good buddy Simal somehow allowed access of his e-mail account to some miscreant who knew about Debbie and decided to write a derogatory statement about her under Simal's name. Whew! For a minute there, I thought it might have been done by a middle-eastern born so-called (ha!) journalist who had a bone to pick with Ms. Schlussel's political views. Ya know, just shows how wrong you can be.

Of course, I wouldn't mind knowing who this miscreant is, or how Simal identified him/her. Wouldn't happen to be another newspaper staffer, would it?

Doesn't CSUF have a policy that each student is responsible for the security of their own e-mail account? Isn't this grounds enough to revoke ol' Simal's account?

Really can't wait for the letter of apology. Will it be posted in the CSUF student newspaper?
