BREAKING: Dubai Ports Sells U.S. Ports Operation to USA's AIG; Lax Foreign Investment Scrutiny
A great bit of breaking holiday cheer and good news: Dubai Ports World has finally sold its U.S. ports operations to AIG--American International Group, Inc., an insurer, and its AIG Global Investment.
That's especially great news because recently-retired AIG Chairman Maurice R. "Hank" Greenberg is a patriot, loyal American, and somewhat of a right-winger (on certain issues, like foreign policy). And he still has a lot of influence on the company. Glad to see the company he helped build will operate our ports.
Both the Dow Jones and AIG's stock got a big lift on the news. We've been following this story and wondering what was happening with DPW's operation of the ports and why it wasn't yet sold. Now, we're happy to report the deal is done . . . and sold to an American company headed by a true patriot.

The deal was a cash sale covering 100% of the assets of the U.S. ports operations. No value has been put on the sale, and the amount of the deal has not been made public, thus far.
Well, it's about time. Americans--and blogs like this one and others--who spoke out in big numbers made this deal happen and deserve a pat on the back.

Related to this is news that the U.S. is scrutinizing "more foreign business deals than in past years," according to press reports. But that's hardly good news. The number has increased from 65 deals looked at last year--to 100 this year--by the 12-member Treasury Department Committee on Foreign Investments in the United States.
That, out of millions--possibly billions--of foreign investments in the U.S., ONLY 100 of them are scrutinized in a year. It's a tiny minuscule fraction, a speck of dust. ABSURD!
We are being bought out from under us--selling the rope on which we'll hang.

This is the kind of news that creates a little "under the radar" momentum. Hank Greenberg is a great American and business leader. Anyone familiar with business knows that AIG isn't small potatoes. We may never know how many lives will be saved because of this deal. As to "scrutinizing" pending deals; it's sad to say that we won't have anyone looking too closely until a national disaster occurs. I fear that, with the huge wave of "San Francisco" political values approaching Washington, that thousands of Americans may die on U.S. soil before the silent majority finally takes a real stand.

Love your site!
If you have a moment, please visit my blog and check out my coverage of the brave protestors in:
Crash of the Lynne Stewart 'Gloat Party'
We crashed Lynne Stewart's 'GLOAT PARTY' last night at the Judson Memorial Church downtown across from Washington Square Park. It was a rousing affair to say the least and it came as a complete surprise to the Lynne Stewart folks who were throwing her a celebration called 'Ode to Joy and Struggle' thanking everyone for their support over the 4 years during her trial and also to 'unite for the struggle ahead'. 'Struggle' they say? As in 'Mein Kampf' maybe? As in 'jihad' too perhaps..?

Finally, some good news for this great country. The sad thing about it is that the news will be buried by our so-called media. Still....it's one less thing to worry about as far as terriost attacks are concerned.

Only problem is Mr. Greenberg is no longer with AIG. Interesting, however, is his interest in buying the NY Times Companies.
The hard-core liberal Geffen wants the LA Times and Jack Welch wants the Boston Globe (not sure about his politics). Greenberg has a rivalry with Welch, and is also still pissed at the coverage he received in the NY Times when Spitzer was after him. This is partly a revenge thing.
What worries me is the idea that Geffen will make the LA Times, already a horrible left-wing rag, into a wealthy print version of the DailyKos. He's 63 years old, worth billions, and has nothing to do with his free time. Dangerous combination.
A point about the Hollywood Jewish elite and Israel. Where are they? They are the ones who could counter some of the anti-Israel and anti-Jewish hate. But, no dice. They would rather make movies about Jews who died at fascist hands AFTER the Jews are already dead. Too sensitive to discuss these matters while said Jews are still alive.
If an Iranian bomb falls on Israel, I will blame my American co-religionists. They blood will be on their hands.

Hank Greenburg is no Bernie Schwartz of Loral, Corp.
For all of the great unwashed and the LIBERAL deniers; Research how Clinton financier, Bernie Schwartz, enabled the ChiComs to advance their ballistic missile guidance technology in exchange for campaign cash going to the DNC and to the Slickster's re-election campaign (anyone remember the Buddhists who donated tens of thousands of dollars secreted in brown envelopes to Al Gore when he visited their temple, especially when those Buddhists took an oath of poverty? Janet Reno swept THAT one under the rug, too! LMFAO!!!).
Yesssssss, you America-haters would be proud of Slick Willie, and Bernie Schwartz.
Look it up!!

I dunno ... it seems to me to be much ado about very little. That ANY foreign countries are being scrutinized for terror ties and all that's involved with "follow the money", is surely a good thing, but as long as America is in this left-wing, go along to get along BS with all the world, I suggest it will do little good.
Recall many years ago when Japs bought Pebble Beach? Loads of Americans thought that the game of golf would be forever changed - like all the greens would be slanted? Never happened.
