Some questions I would ask Lovie Smith:

Isnt it more special for you coaching in the Superbowl than Coach Dungy because you have a darker complexion?

How black is Tony Dungy really? Couldn't he pass?

Why would you, as an African American, have white coordinators? Did you interview black coordinators first?

How do you feel about getting to the Super bowl and then having every question be about your race?

The questions are obvioiusly tongue in cheek, but I am really pissed off. I am a huge Bears fan and the media has really taken a lot of the fun out the Bears being in the Superbowl for me with thier stupid, racist, race obsession.

Judging men by the content of their character is lost on some people.

Quite frankly, I believe that CBS will shove at least 2 hours of "2 black NFL Coaches" down our throats during Sunday's 9 hour pre-game dog & pony show.

BTW - The "A" in Stephan A. Smith stands for "Angry". He is the angriest, short, black man on the planet.

1) This superbowl is about Manning and the Bears defense. Real sports fans just expect the coach to coach, nothing more.

2) Americans want a leader. We have been without one for a long time. That was the November message.

Seriously, if George could put on 10 LBS as he's dead, he has my vote as well. I'm praying a Tancredo/Gingrich ticket comes to fruition. In either position both men have the best interest of the country in mind. Neither are lawyers, a plus and both thumb their noses towards the monstrocity that is inside the beltway. Lawyers have a bad mentality thinking we should compromise everything to get along and it simply doesn't work.

The only thing worse than the pregame show is the way to long half time event which generally has nothing to to with the event other than wish it wasn't happening but alas it is and it makes me want to puke.

I'm gonna be buying popeye's spicy chicken, fries, and buscits (I do this every superbowl it seems) for the game...and the last thing I want white people to think is that I'm buying the spicy chicken wings for some sort of stereotyping. Just becuase there are two black coaches in the superbowl.

Caught the affirmative action and athiest segments. I liked your performance. You got your arguments and a few smiles in there as well.

On the athiest thing, you almost got to the main point before time ran out, which is that athiests are trying to "convert" everyone else to athiesm (see Dawkins "God Delusion").

When this happens, notions of right and wrong, or morality, disappear. At that point, the state becomes the main arbiter of right, wrong, and morality. And, one thing's for sure when that happens: freedom will diminish and pathological behavior/intolerance will increase. That's exactly what we see in Europe.

What else happens in the athiestic society: extreme forms of religion take root, as people are desperate for some kind of clear signal about how to live and what to believe. That's why we're seeing mass conversions in Europe (and the San Francisco Bay Area) to Islam.

Ms. Debbie, I am a fan of yours, really! But I was not at all pleased with your appearance on CNN (the Communist News Network). In the first place, you are so good looking, it is difficult to take you seriously. You are too good to get wasted on CNN.

How long did you get to speak? 30 seconds? 50 seconds? In a one hour show, with 20 minutes of commercials? I wish I and the rest of the USA could listen to you on a higher quality, more in depth broadcast, such as the BBC or NPR puts on.

You might be better off with a frumpy, school-marm look! What a hoot if you showed up last night in a Burqa.

Just letting you know, the clip with your commentary on Atheism is getting around the internet, and damn you look like a fool.

This isn't supposed to be a Christian Country: there's supposed to be separation of church and state. I'm not intolerant of christians, or any deists, I just don't like their god being shoved down my throat or my children's throat (the children don't know what's going on, and some of us would rather they not be taught to fear someone else's god... everyone wishes to keep certain things from their own children, and everyone should have that right in America). The idea of god just doesn't belong in school or the government, no matter who's bringing it up.

I'd love to see some educated, unbiased points of view on TV, but I guess it's not to be seen on lame-stream media (Well, at least Stephen Smith seemed to get it). But you'd be amazed how many of us atheists hang out on the web. We are strong, even if we aren't as many. I'll have to send you a Hallmark Card about it.

Except for Mr. Smith, it seemed like bigotry was the word of the day for this panel. Always fun to strike down someone when they don't have a voice on the panel to defend themselves. I agree wholeheartedly with new.atheist!

for the record, the constitution does not make any mention of a separation between church and state. however, the framers did take great pains to indicate that there would be no state religion (thus the usa has never been a "christian nation"). further, freedom of religion was later added to the consitition in the bill of rights.

however, a couple things to note about the constitution:
- the framers were originally convened to revise the articles of confederation... it was a bit of a suprise when they decided to turn the american confederation into a federation of states.
- the constitution was framed by white male property-owners and later ratified in state congresses also comprised by white male property-owners... hardly representative.
- the constitution considers slaves to be worth 3/5 of a person... hardly moral.
- other than a few documents, we don't know much about the proceedings of the philadelphia convention, so it's problematic to make too many claims about "original intent".
- the consitution is deliberately vague and open to interpretation, so it's also problematic to be too literal and constructivist with its language.

so in what way are we a christian nation? what does it even mean to say "in god we trust"? to washington, jefferson, and franklin (all freemasons and deists) it meant something far different than it meant to patrick henry (a monarchist who wanted a state religion). yes, we've never had an atheist president, but at least there was kennedy (catholic) who finally broke the string of protestant presidents.

the point is that times are changing... the demographics of 1787 america and 2007 usa are radically different. we need to endorse the spirit of the framers (looking to locke as a starting point), lest we continue this charade of selectively taking one feature they held in common and blowing it out of proportion. why should that feature be "christian"? why not just as arbitrarily select "white" or "male"? or if we content ourselves with simple majority, how about "protestant" (sorry catholics) or "slaveholder" (sorry non-whites)?

while atheists will have just as tough of a time definitively proving their stance as theists, the crux of the matter isn't there. unless we want to install a state religion (which would be exceedingly contrary to the framers), then we need to uphold freedom of religion. pagans, hindu, bhuddists, jews, protestants, catholics, orthodox, muslims, satanists... you're all equal. welcome to america.
