Sheryl Crow: Hypocrite-atrix's Concert Rider, Hair Color Deal Are Anything But "Green"

Printer Friendly

By Debbie Schlussel

It's lesson number 5,672,355 in Celeb Do-As-I-Say-Not-As-I-Do.

Singer Sheryl Crow is demanding that we limit our toilet paper use to one square of toilet paper per bathroom experience. Reminds me of the "Seinfeld" episode featuring the dialogue: "I don't have a square to spare." She's also designed "disposable sleeves" to wipe our faces, instead of napkins, as noted by Michelle Malkin.

But a check of Sheryl Crow's standard concert rider (posted below)--the contract all concert venues must make with her and abide by--shows she's anything but green, anything but an energy conserver. She travels with three tractor trailers, four buses, and six cars. As The Smoking Gun remarks:

sherylcrow.jpg
Sheryl Crow: New Webster's Definition of Hypocrisy
Now that's a carbon footprint!

Crow also requires a "filter coffee maker" and, therefore, uses coffee filters. Hmmm . . . maybe she should skip the coffee so as not to use so much paper. The toilet paper rule does, indeed, need to apply here, Sheryl. She also insists upon lots of bottles of various things. Uh, Sheryl, bottles pollute the environment. And there's no requirement in her rider for recycling those bottles. And those "hot" dinners she insists upon? That wastes energy. Sheryl, eat your food cold to save the world.

Then, there's the fax line she insists upon. Fax machines use paper. While I'm supposed to be limited to one square of toilet paper, why can't she scan and e-mail things instead of faxing, which pollutes the environment with ink and uses more paper than goes in the toilet in one sitting?

And those multiple 2x20 amp circuits she insists upon in several dressing rooms? Hmmm . . . that's a lot of power she's wasting.

As far as I can tell from her concert rider, the only thing she's doing to conserve is providing her own towels. And even that is questionable, since it's likely she washes them a lot, which pollutes the environment--so much detergent in the water.

Finally, there's the concert tour sponsorship and endorsement deal she has with Revlon, marketing its hair coloring product, "Revlon Colorist." She does ads in magazines and on TV, recommending women color their hair with Revlon. But hair bleach and dye involves washing off harmful chemicals, including peroxide, into the water supply. If Crow really cares about the environment, she will go gray, gracefully.

All of this is far worse than "multi-square" toilet paper use.

The only thing "Green" about Sheryl Crow is the stuff she deposits in her bank account. And she is laughing (at us) all the way to the bank.

Do as Sheryl Crow says, not as she does. (Thanks to reader, EJO, for the tip on the concert rider.)

As one of your third-rate songs go:

"All I wanna do.... is have some fun"

Lance Armstrong did well to dump you. I'll do what I normally do. Don't care "if it makes you happy"!

Hypocrisy: Thy name is Liberalism. Crow should use one sheet of toilet paper to wipe her mouth after talking her s**t.

Posted by: FreethinkerNY [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 23, 2007 02:06 PM

Bwahahahahahahaaaaaa! LOSER! She's so busted.

Do these morons never think that maybe someone, somewhere, lurking within the evil Republican ranks, might expose their lies and hypocrisy?

Posted by: AmericanJewess [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 23, 2007 02:08 PM

So tell me, doesn't this get old..constantly revealing the hypocrisy of these idiots. Nobody could seriously propose the limit of one sheet of toilet paper... OK, I'll accept the myraid of public smoking bans these morons pass. Ever been to Yankee Stadium to watch all the smokers gather in the ramp section and run like highschoolers when secuirty comes...what a sight..it's a nostalgic trip for me! I'll accept the fact that I have to be searched by some sand monkey in order to board a US airplane; but you know what...they pass a law that limits me to one sheet of toilet paper...then they had better suspend second amendment first! I can think of nothing scarrier than a nation of men with unclean asses. You want attitude, that'll bring it! Iraq, hell we'd be in war with everyone!

Posted by: chucker [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 23, 2007 02:32 PM

If she is really gungho about environmental conservation, she can put an end to her concerts and stop producing more of her CDs which is exuding the pollution that she is deeply concerned about. She and Al Gore and pick themselves up and move to the Antartic while there are still snow and glaciers around and not have to worry much about a meltdown. If anything, I think the temperature escalation attributes to the hot air that comes out of the mouths of these people. If you want to conserve energy then SHUT UP AND KEEP YOUR GLOBAL WARMING NIGHTMARE TO YOURSELVE.You be sparing the planet a great deal just by doing that.

Posted by: Jew Chick [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 23, 2007 02:36 PM

Debbie, your documentation says it all. I can't add another credible retort other than to ask the following questions:

1. Do these people really think we are all that stupid?
2. Do they not understand how stupid THEY sound?
3. What planet are they from?
4. Does Ms. Crow not understand that her blathering merely provides supporting evidence that she is an IDIOT?

Posted by: FreeAmerican [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 23, 2007 03:33 PM

1 square? It takes me at least ten just blow my nose. Sure Sheryl, truth be known I bet your hand looks like mummy at that critical bathroom moment. 1 square my arse!

FreeAm: I'ts simple. These idiots live in an insular world in which the only inhabitants are just like themselves.

One of Rush's astute callers pointed out that the reason Rove dissed her so when she came toward him was that she had just come from the rest room having applied her one square philosophy. Rush said he would cut his usage to zero squares IF....she agreed to shove the saved TP in her mouth.

She sure managed to take me from a disinterested (about her) person who would have nothing bad to say----> to someone who will see her as an idiot for life. Can you imagine telling folks "you can only use one freaking square from now on." What a loon!

Banning incandescent lightbulbs? Cutting back on toilet paper? Disposable "dinner sleeves"? Whilst the nut-jobs Crow and David jet around the country and spend time, money, and (ahem!) natural resources attempting to brainwash, er, convince college students they should embrace a diminished quality of life and a future that they have no control over...Crow makes millions selling tiny plastic (oil) discs in plastic (oil) cases along with cover notes (trees), shipped all over the world (oil), sold in stores (oil, coal, countless natural resources), rather than embracing web-only distribution of her music??? Maybe she can follow "Uncle Al" and spend her millions buying "Carbon Credits" from some U.S. manufacturer that now has a "surplus" since relocating it's plant overseas (or, like Uncle Al, just create some paper company, fund it with monopoly money, the announce you bought your "carbon credits" from it).
Are these people kidding??? This whole Earth Day/Global Warming phenom was quaint when it was being chirped by acid-heads, hemp worshippers, and free-love-low-I.Q. hippies during the 60's-70's. However, the non compos mentis blather of the current group of fear-mongers, who have emerged from their Carrollean Rabbit Hole with the intent of polluting the minds of our country's next generation, is pure evil. The Al Gores, Cheryl Crows, and Laurie Davids of the world will sit back in their mansions, laughing at the gullibility and ignorance of America's "youth", while the U.S. and other industrial nations collapse into a bureaucratic maelstrom of unemployment and poverty. Jerry Brown, a pioneer in the field of "deteriorating the quality of life" for people, always preached that Americans would have to embrace "lowered" expectations: His motivation was no more than a brilliant diversion to conceal his own administrative incompetence. This strategy is being employed by the current fear-mongers. If Americans (in fact, all of humanity) becomes conditioned to accept limitations to their dreams through the imposition of draconian government regulations, they will "overlook" the poor quality of life that inevitably results from the structurally dysfunctional "philosophy" of Liberalism. While seemingly "proper" at the superficial level, the moral relativism that is clearly demonstrated by hypocrites like Crow and Gore ultimately reveals the reason they will fail.
It's this kind of hypocrisy that has always fueled my conservativism.

I find it interesting she didn't require the freshly ground coffee to be Fair Trade certified. Failure to uphold multiple facets of the liberal agenda will lead to immediate liberal cover-ups and complaining that conservatives hold liberals to the standards imposed by liberals.

Posted by: Robert Crabtree [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 23, 2007 08:17 PM

Typical Stalinist BS -- they make the rules (even though they're the ones supposedly for freedom to do anything, with anyone), we have to live by them. Not them, of course, they're "special," so the rules don't apply.

Sheryl and Al just pollute all they want, anytime and anywhere they want, then buy indulgences from companies they have an interest in -- brilliant scam!

Posted by: theendisnear [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 23, 2007 09:26 PM

The hypocrite was also on a reality TV show, when she was dating Lance Armstrong. She had Chris Foose restore an old hot rod for lance. They put a big huge V-8 engine in it, with a four barrel carb (huge gas eater). I didn't see any emissions in it either.

Posted by: CaptShady [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 23, 2007 09:56 PM

I wonder if Laurie David ran out and blogged about the 1-square policy?

Oh, I bet LD is so peeved at Crow for ruining their moment.

Posted by: jpm100 [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 23, 2007 10:20 PM

Now I know why Lance dumped her a**!

Looking at this rider I have a few questions for Sheryl.

What is with all the booze and cigs? Not very earth friendly to smoke you know.

Are you too cheap to hire your own chef?

It shocks me that I did not see the word "organic" at all on your list. Why not?
Don't you eat organic?

What is wrong with Evian water? Too European?

What's with the candy bars and sugar donuts?

I noticed you use "disposable" plastic bowls and spoons. Those are worse than toilet paper, right? Is plastic biodegradable?

Can somebody please tell me where these people get their ideas from? Just shut up and sing or whatever. No one wants to hear her strange weired advice. Some one should tell her that she's supposed to stop when she feels resistance from the Q-tip! Friends reference.

Maybe I should have said that the light is on but nobody is home. Which is another example of wasted energy :)

Yet another desperate attempt for publicity from a washed up celeb.

Liberals are always screaming to stay out of their bedrooms. I say they should stay out of our bathrooms.

Posted by: The_Man [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 23, 2007 11:34 PM

If she really wants to save the planet, why doesn't she wipe her butt with used coffee filters, or filter her coffee with a single square of used toilet paper?

Posted by: WillPower [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 23, 2007 11:37 PM

sheryl crow, your songs suck, your voice sucks, and your views and values suck. You can take the one square of toilet paper and shove it. How dare you tell us what to do with our lives you control freak just because you can't get control of your own life. Atleast own up to the reason and it would be somewhat understood.

Posted by: Highrise [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 24, 2007 12:29 AM

My thoughts exactly OneIrishJew! Shut up and do what you get paid to do, sing. How does your ability to hold a note make you an authority on the environment, and nature management? How does the Dixie Chicks ability to sing make them an authority on anything else? Just shut up and fricken sing, play your little instruments, cash your million dollar check, and go home to your 20000 acre ranch.

Janeane Garofolo, Richard Belzer, Rosie O'Donnel, shut up and make me laugh. Do the monkey dance that you get paid for. You're not a fricken scholar, you don't have any formal education to speak of, so do what you get paid to do and be funny. Leave the political posturing to the educated.

Typical non-news.

Some people really do lack a sense of humor. It's not her fault after all. Many people also tend to believe everything they read (or hear).

I mean, A SQUARE, A DAMN SQUARE. LOL. C'mon!!!

People crazy for toilet paper. Perfect.

What's the first sign of being a brain-challenged Bushie? The fact that you don't recognize a joke when it hits you in the braincell.

Some points:

1) You are a beautiful woman;
2) The toilet paper thing was a joke;
3) THAT CREW REQUIREMENT LIST IS COMPLETELY OUTDATED (1999 - bad intel, huh? Check your source first. You are a columnist after all);
4) Stop to waste electric power for those silly jokes. Save energy. Seriously, give a good example for first;
5) Speaking of Revlon, i suggest you to make a donation for the UCLA/Revlon center: http://www.breastcenter.ucla.edu/ Sheryl Crow serves on the advisory board - thanks in advance!

By the way, The Stop Global Warming Tour was a success. Thanks to McCain and Crist (two real republicans) for their support!

About that tshirt, Ms. Crow was right:

"We, as a people, are being bullied by fear tactics into believing this has anything to do with protecting our country from attack. I have to leave it up to you as intelligent people to dig for your own information on that subject because it is wide and deep and you will not be able to come to sound conclusions unless you are open-minded enough to go outside of the norm of the controlled press we are fed everyday. NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO GO TO SLEEP. Our culture is choosing to do just that because the issues are too much to comprehend. The attacks on 9-11 were forewarned. They had nothing to do with Saddam Hussein. And while Saddam is an evil person, the strategy of "Let's hit him before he hits us" is not a viable solution to anything. Terrorist attacks will continue as a reaction to the hate felt for our country."

" I have to question the intentions of those considering taking our young men and women into a war based on fear and greed. There will be no positive outcome from this. We will live through tremendous loss of life with the outcome being comparable to Vietnam, where we wake up as a nation and ask why did we allow ourselves to get dragged into a political war that could never be won, if won is even an applicable term." - Sheryl Crow, December 2002

Good luck and... please, less hate, ok?

Tex

I submit that all toilets made in the U.S. be equipped with a mechanized, drop-in face of Sheryl Crow. All you have to do is sit on it and a big, sponge tongue pops out and does its work. That way, you can get squeaky clean while getting your wish, that is, to see the wacko wench eat s**t.

I suggest "Tex60" refrain from installing one...judging by his pinhead statements, he'll probably try to play tonsil hockey with it.

Oh thank goodness.. does that mean you solved global warming??

oh, you meant she made a pantload of money.....

(grow up please! she's another LA/hollyweird self-serving noisemaker like Alex Baldwin.. anyone see his latest stunt that's gonna cost him joint custody of his daughter, btw?? in case you haven't, here's one of a many links out there http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEvpM_fftzA )

Why do these continue celebrities/musicians/models/actors/actresses/etc try to tell everyone else how to live?

They have millions of dollars on end and not a care in the world. Sing your songs Sheryl Crow and be happy with your millions of dollars. Don't tell people who don't have millions of dollars how to live or what they should cut back on.

Posted by: the_don [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 24, 2007 12:07 PM

The T-shirt says it all....if you don't like something, you just refuse to join in.....she can enjoy all the protection of this country and it's armed forces but it is not her war.....and I don't think the toilet papaeer thing was a joke....not based on the other things she has said.....she is fully entitled to her opinion, I just don't think it has any weight in the real world.......disagreeing with someone is not hate.......neither is being angry with them about those beliefs.....it is just a consequence of taking a position.....

Posted by: Big [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 24, 2007 01:00 PM

Big:

I have no trepidations about someone having their opinions but when it's that incredulous and hypocritical, best to just shut the hell up and bask away in the Utopia of money earned at the expense of the dolts who buy into her crap.

I wonder if she also has a t-shirt that says, "I don't believe in your war Mr. bin Laden". Yeah, right.

On the TP issue - being a man, I don't use TP most trips to the john, so maybe I could sell her some TP credits. I wonder what a square credit goes for.

Oops, I feel a DEBIT coming on....talk to you later.

> Crow also requires a "filter coffee maker"

> Hmmm . . . maybe she should skip the

I've a better idea. She can use filters
instead of TP for her trips to the toilet,
and use the filters in the coffer maker.
The coffee maker will cleanse the filters,
and she can repeat the cycle.

Sherryl apparently doesn't beleive in the war, but she evidently beleives in millions of Iraqis suffering and turning her back on them while they suffer the ills of terrorists like Saddam and his deceased sons and other terrorists in Iraq. Good going Sherryl- attack those who try to make a differecne while ignoring those who truly tortured and murdered millions of innocent lives in Iraq. Sherryl- I don't beleive in your hypocrisy and 'hooray for me, the hell with Iraqis' attitude.

Posted by: CottShop [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 25, 2007 12:09 AM

Crow suggesting that one square of toilet paper be used is telling in her mental capabilities. When these celebrities come up with a really good idea of conserving, such as banning PAPER DIAPERS and using intead cloth diapers as has been done for centuries now, then and only then will I worry about how much toilet paper I use.

She is an idiot who can sing (sort of).

I do have to mention, after researching bladder cancer for my mother, who died of the disease, that for some strange reason, one of the causes of bladder cancer is HAIR DYE. Of course, there are other causes as well, but Mom never smoked, nor did she ever work directly with industrial chemicals, nor did she ever work on airplane or vehicle maintenance (exhaust, engine cleaners, etc.) In addition to her hypocracy and her laughable comments about toilet paper (Rosie O'Donnel DID get this one right - she said that Crow had never seen her fat ass!)she is promoting a known carcinogen. To me,that's the worst part, because it's so little known about the links between hair dye and cancer. And Im sure that Greenies will rush to buy a product that has the potential to end their lives simply because their "hero," Lynch/Crow, tells them to. And because of her toilet paper screed, they won't smell very good when they do it, either!

Hello Debbie and everybody

If Cheryl Crow is so gunhoe on fighting global warming here are 3 things she can start doing...

1. Cheryl Crow's Global Warming Fight --

Cheryl can use the Greyhound buses rather than using her big, personal RV, which uses an enormous amount of fuel. Greyhound can easily accommodate her traveling entourage and equipment. She will also have an opportunity to mingle with her fans, up close and personal!

2. Global Warmists Fight Against Population Control

Following the current fashion of "Botox Parties", Cheryl can have her own version called "Sterilization Parties". This will allow her closest supporters and concert-goers to support her in her fight against population control. One-stop shopping -- Listen to her entertainment while fighting the dreaded population explosion!!

3. A Quicker Solution to Population Control!

At the time of your Cheryl Crow ticket purchase, you have the once in a lifetime opportunity to enter a special lottery drawing. Winners will receive the ultimate supporting gift of martrydom for population control by particpating in the "Euthanasia Celebration"!!

Hopefully, these suggestions will afford Cheryl an opportunity to be recognized as a humanitarian contributor to the dreaded fight against global warming and population control. We are confident that her staunchest entertainment-industry supporters will be joining her in participating and be part of these monumental opportunities. We may even have some lucky "winners" among that celebrity group!!

Though she is thoroughly obnoxious on so many counts, Rosie actually had the best line in responding to Crow's stupid suggestion about the limit of one sheet of toilet paper.

She said, "Have you seen my ass?"

Posted by: Trochilus [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 25, 2007 01:33 PM

Thanks Debbie for bringing this phony and her outrageous contract to everyone's attention. Your comments are right on!

Our country is made up of individuals who actually think for themselves - don't know just where the celebrities got the idea that "they" should be telling the commonfolk what to think/say/do - all the while as they go about their business of not following one bit of the dictates they are setting forth with vigor!

The worst part of this is that they are brainwashing our children, from elementary school through college. Our local Boston tv station seems intent on making "Global Warming" or "Climate Change" a nightly feature...and off they go...they finally have found someone with an agenda they want to highlight and henceforth it will be never-ending! What is the old adage? Say something often enough and loud enough and soon it will be so. The msm has that one down pat!

I have read that a plastic water bottle will be in landfills for hundreds or thousands of years. At least TP will disintegrate!

Her wastefulness is obscene and I do hope she and her gang are immediately ignored!

PS Before she sends the contract out again, perhaps she can correct a couple of misspellings. It's mayonnaise and the plural of a bus that you ride in is buses (busses is an electrical term :-)

Sorry - couldn't let that one get by...I may not be a singer, but I can spell!

Posted by: CapeConservative [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 27, 2007 09:24 PM

I'm not a big fan of celebrities to begin with. I think it's because I'm just jealous of them, the get paid insane money without ever having to work. In my oppinion, they have one purpose in life, and one purpose only and that's to entertain me! I don't care what their oppinions are; and I don't want to hear about their causes; I just want them to entertain me on stage, in movies, or on tv.

I'm know that most people do care about what they have to say, and to that end, celebrities shouldn't take double standards. If Sheryl Crow wants to stop global warming she should stop selling the rights to her songs to Subaru, and stop making Revlon commercials!
