Did you see the article in the WaPo at http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/10/24/AR2007102402759.html? About some of the background? Kinda sad about the perception of cancer.

But did you notice, Debbie, that she was NOT wearing headgear while meeting with Abdullah?
Also, her smile seems more genuine in the last picture than in the picture with the other women.

It is just too bad that Judaism or Christianity or becoming girl clubs and their is no middle ground. 61% of those who attend church are female and the SOuthern Baptists not some liberal church had an article about this. An Orthodox Judaism it is just as bad but we have no one to write on this stuff as they claim this problem is limited to reform which from my own and my sisters experience is simply not true. While I hate Saudi Arabia for many reasons (including 15/19 hyjackers from this crazy place) I have to believe men who aren't connected to the royal family have many civil rights abuses also as according to the world almanac Saudi Arabian women outlive Saudian Arabian men by 4 years (77.3 vs 73.3). At least we don't have men groups going over there.

In Laura's defense, note this quote from the article:

She was being gracious: she'd been given a gift and put it on briefly for the women.

What was she thinking! We don't cow tow to the Middle Eastern ways - we annihilate them. The west has evolved, obviously, the middle east has not. To save our way of life we need to eliminate all of this backwards culture.
