Photo of the Year: Live From the Laura Bush Islamist Breast Cancer Tour . . .

By Debbie Schlussel

**** UPDATE, 10/25/07: Mrs. Bush dons the Islamic Headscarf (Hijab) for Saudi Women in Breast Cancer Tour. See Photos. ****

Trite But True: A Picture is, INDEED, Worth a Thousand Words.

I've written--twice (here and here)--about First Lady Laura Bush's absurd Breast Cancer Awareness Tours of the Extremist Islamic World. Now comes this picture from AP that says it all. It's a photo of Mrs. Bush posing with two United Arab Emirates (our "moderate" "ally") alleged breast cancer survivors, Shareefa Sayed Al-Hashemi and Nabaweia Hussein Al Zaabi. I say "alleged breast cancer survivors" because--with those disguises--we have no clue who they are or even if they're women (yes, I know that men get breast cancer, too). And, as we know, everything from the Muslim Mid-East is done for maximum propaganda effect, as if to say: "We're just like you American women." Riiiiight--Just. Like Us!

I've posted a few of my choice captions. Would love to read yours in the comments section. I've also posted USA Today's caption, below, after my own.

When the first lady can't even see the big picture, it becomes a sad cartoon...

Posted by: spiffo [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 23, 2007 02:22 PM

Do you think she has any idea how much her husband is hated, and what a failure he is?

Posted by: jeff [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 23, 2007 02:38 PM

At a press conference in Texas today, Laura Bush explained why she has not converted to Islam. "If you've ever had George's Texas BBQ Beans, you'd understand."

How about an "islamic Motown sandwich"?

Posted by: 1shot1kill [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 23, 2007 04:14 PM

I used to think she was a pretty classy, intelligent lady, but stunts like this make me lose all respect for her. How can she be so blind? Early in the Bush administration, she seemed to really represent integrity and right thinking, but it looks like that is all gone now.

Posted by: Dr. D [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 23, 2007 04:15 PM

This is the Bush administration's idiotic attempt to improve America's image in the Muslim world. Of course, the only thing which would truly improve our image is to die or revert.

Hard to believe that Laura Bush would so tarnish her reputation. That said, at least she's not wearing a head scarf like Pelosi and Hughes.

I wonder if Shirin Tahir-Kheli has anything to do with this. This "outreach" is part of her writ.

http://www.state.gov/r/pa/ei/biog/56878.htm

In the past, she's been an ardent supporter of Pakistan in government and academic circles, as she believes or believed that the US "tilts" too far toward India. No surprise, since her father was booted out of India at the time of partition.

She has also been involved in the creation of the UN Human Rights Council after the UN Commission on Human Rights was axed. The HRC's only objectives, it would seem, are to vilify Israel and deflect attention from some of the nastiest regimes on Earth.

She is a big proponent of the White House Iftar dinners (this year's was in support of American Muslim women!), and she has helped to arrange Bush's visit to the notoriously anti-Semitic and anti-Christian Islamic Center in Washington.

It would seem that ever since Grover Norquist (who many well-informed people suspect is a Muslim) lost carte blanch for terror supporters and Islamic supremacists to visit the White House, there has been a need for for Muslim "voices."

Posted by: sonomaca [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 23, 2007 06:18 PM

Grover Norquist is a muslim? Anyone have info on that? Source?

[IT'S NOT ONLY WELL-KNOWN, BUT OLD NEWS. I WAS THE FIRST TO WRITE ABOUT HIS PAN-ISLAMISM IN NATIONAL REVIEW ONLINE IN 2002, BUT THEN RICH LOWRY REMOVED MY ARTICLE AT GROVER'S, THE WHITE HOUSE'S, AND BUSH ADMINISTRATION AL-QAEDA SUPPORTER SUHAIL KHAN'S REQUEST. GROVER MARRIED A MUSLIM WOMAN AND CONVERTED IN ORDER TO DO SO, BUT HIS MIND WAS THERE LONG AGO. DS]

Which party do I vote for, to end the muslim invasion? I guess I'll write in Michael Savage, and 'throw my vote away', again.

What will the First Lady do next?

Appear with two black men in chains?

Posted by: feralcat9 [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 24, 2007 12:09 AM

Laura Bush should be ashamed of herself. Making herself look like an idiot. Do those lumps of black polyester speak at all? Freaks. This picture should be widely circulated. Is THIS what we should be kowtowing to?

You guys are missing something. We can see Laura is smiling. We can see her hair. The other two women are faceless, hairless ghosts. Nancy P. would have put on a head scarf in submission to Islamic sensibilities. No dhimmitude here, folks.

I think the one on the right is sleeping.

First the clit, then the breast, and if you could be so unlucky the head. And they say women are oppressed!

Posted by: MadMom [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 24, 2007 12:30 PM

At least she isn't wearing one of those silly Pelosi scarves of the dhimmi.

All in all, a pretty sad photo-op.

Oh - I just looked at this and it spoiled my day.
Goodbye sweet library lady - Hello anti-Semite.
Why do these women (?) pose for the camera at all in those outfits?
Maybe it is a bad Halloween joke?
And, I hate to be the fashion police but - while Laura may not be wearing a headscarf her outfit - looks like a middle eastern-esque compromise (as though her subservient head scarf had just been removed for the photo op).

Hey, give the First Lady a break. At least, unlike Nancy Pelosi, she's dressed like an American.

Here's a caption: "Laura in a B.M.O. sammich"

The term we used in Iraq, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia for women dressed like this was “BMOs”; Black Moving Objects.
I’ll tell you this, when we were deployed there in Desert Storm to pull Kuwait’s ass out of the Iraqi fire, and ensure that Hussein didn’t get any funny ideas about a side trip to Riyadh, we walked through the streets in uniform, full battle rattle, and M16s. We didn’t take shit from anybody, and the U.S. Army made it clear to the goat-smelling King Abdullah that we were there to perform a mission and Hijabs and Burquas are not Army issue. Alot of the male locals shot us dirty looks, we promptly shot back. I still hate those fucking camel jockeys….

Posted by: SFCMAC [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 25, 2007 06:17 PM

Let's not forget how financially connected to Saudi Arabia the Bush family is.... this why the binLadens were allowed to leave after 9/11 and this is why the hijackers were all Saudi, this is why all terrorist money is laundered by the Saudis, this is why no one is actually looking for Osama....
HOW are they our allies, again?

Posted by: jeff [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 26, 2007 02:30 PM

Jeff,
Remove the tin foil hat and get back on your meds. There are plenty of legitimate reasons to hate the Saudis without succumbing to the fruitcake conspiracy theories which have been debunked over and over.

Posted by: SFCMAC [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 26, 2007 02:55 PM

It's hard to tell anything about the one on the right, but the one on the left seems to have nice eyes.

Posted by: Joe B. [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 29, 2007 04:44 PM

I haven't read every post to this image; but, every one that I have read shows me that you've missed the point. The middle-east is in need of such awareness. Women are often not seen as worthy of the medical attention that prevents or may cure terminal disease. Such a statement made by "our" first lady supporting the women who have survived is far more beneficial to the middle east than any comment I've read in protest on this page. And should the fact that "our" speaker of the house wore such Arab women's adornments convince anyone of her level of support? Is she Muslim? Amusement and decentralized support for "our" country will hurt this country for generations to come. Think about that before you speak without first taking the time to learn a bit more about the situation.
