Dr. Jekyll & the Late Henry Hyde: GOP Rep. Took $$ From Terrorist Al-Arian, Harassed Me for Reporting it, Was Strong Anti-Israel/Pan-Terrorist Force in Congress

**** SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATE ****

Former Republican Congressman and Clinton House Impeachment manager Henry Hyde died, early this morning. Sadly, some prominent conservatives are remembering this cretin as a great man. He was anything but. They are misinformed, and that includes the very Islam-addled National Review Online, which did ZERO research in rushing to gush over this man.

Here are the facts about Henry Hyde:

Henry Hyde Hearted Islamic Terrorists, Incl. Sami Al-Arian

* Throughout his career and as House International Relations Committee Chairman, he was one of the most vicious enemies of Israel on Capitol Hill, constantly trying to impede Israel's right to defend itself and constantly harassing Israel in every way possible. That would explain the many campaign contributions he got from Muslims and Islamists. Many people felt he was anti-Semitic. And, based on his behavior and statements throughout his career, I believe they were right.

* He was one of the most prominent defenders of Islamic terrorists and terrorist groups in Congress.

* I exposed to America (here and here) that Hyde took thousands in money from Islamic Jihad front man and convicted terrorist, Sami Al-Arian. The money was laundered through Al-Arian's wife, Nahla, who did not have a job. Al-Arian's thousands in campaign contributions to Hyde, David Bonior, Cynthia McKinney, and other malefactors in Congress far exceeded what his income as a University of South Florida professor would allow (and it is apparent the money really came from the Saudis and Islamic Jihad). That Hyde received this money--among these other infamous names--bears out the saying about "the company you keep."

* Because I exposed Hyde's contributions from Al-Arian, he sicced his Committee Communications Director, Sam Stratman, to harass me. Stratman called me repeatedly, screaming and yelling at me over the phone and calling me a "perfumed icepick." My crime: disclosing that Henry Hyde took money from Sami Al-Arian and letting America know.

* In return for the money, as House Judiciary Chairman, Hyde held hearings for the purpose of getting rid of laws (signed by President Clinton) allowing the use of secret evidence against terrorists. He invited Al-Arian and his wife, Nahla, to testify and gushed over them. He encouraged them to tell us how "harassed" and "discriminated against" they were. Hyde opposed most domestic counterterrorism measures.

* Hyde also repaid Al-Arian by objecting to an Oct. 3, 2001 Congressional screening of "Jihad in America," featuring Al-Arian's "activities."

* Eventually, after Al-Arian was finally indicted in 2003, Hyde sent out widely regurgitated (in AP, Reuters, etc.) press releases claiming he gave Al-Arian's contributions to charity. But when I spoke with Hyde's press secretary, she could not point to a single charity or amount that Hyde had given to eliminate the Al-Arian contribution (not that it mattered, it was too late). She admitted to me that the press release was a fraud, designed to relieve Hyde of the negative press he received over the contribution. "Well, Congressman Hyde gives to charity all the time, so we considered his past charity giving to be included when we wrote the press release," she told me.

To remind you, Sami Al-Arian masterminded homicide bombings. One of his "productions" resulted in the murder of an American, New Jersey college student, Alisa Flatow. Yet, Henry Hyde went out of his way to help this Islamic mass murderer.

This is the real Henry Hyde, the man so many conservatives who claim to be against terrorism are praising. As President Bush said--but didn't mean--you're either on our side or the terrorists' side.

Throughout his career, Henry Hyde was on the terrorists' side. That President Bush gave him the Medal of Freedom is disgusting.

**** UPDATE: One of my undercover informants tells me:

At an August 2000 American Muslim Alliance event, Sami Al-Arian told me that he had Congressman Henry Hyde in his pocket. He said Hyde was helping him defeat the Secret Evidence Provision of the 1996 Anti Terrorist and Effective Death Penalty Act.

Forget Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Dr. Al-Arian and Mr. Hyde are a whole lot scarier. And real.

Never liked him, he was nothing but a hypocrite and a gas-bag.

Thank you Debbie for giving us the truth on that guy.

Posted by: donsmith7777 [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 29, 2007 02:03 PM

Henry Hyde was a hypocrite and deceitful. But then again, so are all conservatives.

Posted by: Norman Blitzer [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 29, 2007 02:14 PM

Debbie, I applaud you for outing Hyde. Perhaps you could have a "Schlussel Islamist of the Month" who you could embarass while they are still alive. Way too many of these people are on TV ranting against Israel while quietly cashing their petro-dollar checks. They should be tarred and feathered.

Let's also remember he cheated on his wife with a married woman, and broke up her family. What a class act. He and Bill Clinton ought to have let bygones be bygones and gone out chasing tail together!

Hey "Blister" er, Blitzer,

That's right you ignorant pussbag. So all conservatives are hypocrites and deceitful; so then all liberals are pure as the driven snow?
Then again, that would be the typical response of a liberal out of touch with reality.

By the way, I never liked Henry Hyde either but don't lump him in with the rest. As "JasonBourne81" put it correctly, he and your icon Billy would make great cock-hound buddies.

Posted by: 1shot1kill [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 29, 2007 02:57 PM

I beg to differ. Liberals are not hypocrites. When you stand for nothing and fall for everything, you can't exactly be a hypocrite.

Perfumed icepick? I like that. Wear that title proudly.

Posted by: sonofsheldon [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 29, 2007 07:57 PM

I thought I was well informed but Henry Hyde being an anti-Semitic Arabist was news to me! Thank you for exposing Hyde for what he was. I initially felt bad about his death but now I say, good riddance.

You can probably add the names of such phoney RINO's as Bob Dole, John McCain and Dana Rohrbacher to the list of those cashing islamaniac paychecks. This bunch has been heavily involved in the effort to "rip off" the Serbian province of Kosovo from our WWII ally Serbia and turn it over to the albanian muslims to set up another islamofascist terrorist state in the balkans.

Sean Hannity (Debbie's good friend :-) ) and Rush Limbaugh go on radio praising him. I bet Sean refered to him as a good friend. I didn't know a lot about him till Debbie exposed him.

I wonder how much Ron Paul gets from similar people.

Posted by: StuLongIsland [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 30, 2007 07:25 AM

Both parties have sold us out for years. All the Muslin's, or for that matter any other country like China, has to do is set back and wait for the "going out of business" sign to go up and they move in...

Posted by: Lemieux [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 30, 2007 09:16 AM

Thank you for exposing this man. I knew nothing about the positions you exposed in this column. "Perfumed icepick"??? Please take this phrase as a compliment, as you have deflated the Hyde image baloon.

Posted by: Mikey [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 30, 2007 10:28 AM

Robert Novak, that execrable anti Semitic piece of dreck, used to praise Hyde because Hyde would condemn the Israeli security fence on the spurious grounds that it was harming Christians in the West Bank. The fact is that Islam fascism was harming Christians in the West Bank. I hated Henry Hyde and refuse to mourn his passing. He was a phony and an anti Semite. That security fence has saved thousands of Jewish lives.

That corona who is posting at Michelle Malkin's site sounds like a real Buchananite loser.

Debbie -- you are wrong about Henry Hyde .... and instead of publishing rumor, calumny or innuendo, how about offering some actual EVIDENCE??

Because you do not have it?

[HJ: UM, WHICH PART OF "HE TOOK CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS FROM SAMI AL-ARIAN" DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND? ARE YOU CALLING ME A LIAR ON THAT? DO YOU THINK I'D JUST MAKE IT UP? LOOK IT UP. DITTO FOR HIS OBJECTIONS TO THE SHOWING OF "JIHAD IN AMERICA" AND HIS HEARINGS AND GUSHING OVER THE AL-ARIANS AND HIS OPPOSITION TO THE SECRET EVIDENCE LAWS. LOOK THEM UP. THEY ARE ALL DOCUMENTED IN THE CONGRESSIONAL RECORD. THAT IS THE EVIDENCE, AND I'VE PROVIDED PLENTY. YOU'VE PROVIDED NONE TO REFUTE ME. BECAUSE YOU KNOW YOU ARE FULL OF IT AND I AM RIGHT ON THE MONEY AND YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH. NONE OF WHAT I'VE WRITTEN IS RUMOR, INNUENDO, OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT. I DEAL IN FACTS. YOU CAN'T EVEN POST UNDER YOUR REAL NAME. COWARD. DS]

HeyJay--

Sorry to burst the bubble, but Hyde's tendency to ALWAYS line up against Israel is well known--

At some point, he found that this posture was a good way to raise money...

He may really have been pro-life, it doesn't matter. His main concern and the concern of ALL the officeholders, at least 95% of whom are complete scum---and that means on both sides--are most concerned about staying in power period.

Did he whore himself out to the AY-RABS? Absolutely no doubt.

He probably did not hate Jews, but he surely hung out with people who did...

Not sure how a real Catholic could draw that much succor from Muslims, either.

Obviously to Hey Jay, the bird is the word.

This feathers-for-brains Liberal would no doubt defend Robert Byrd as well as he struggles to find substance for his simplistic blame and hatred.

Posted by: TallT [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 30, 2007 04:39 PM

TallT,

This has nothing to do with liberals. Hyde was a conservative icon and is staunchly defended by pro-life conservatives. I can't recall a post by HeyJay before, but from this one post here I'd guess HeyJay is probably more a very pro-life conservative than a "feathers-for-brains Liberal".

A little OT, but my favorite memory of Hyde was the Clinton impeachment hearings. Taking the indignant moral highground against the great adulterer. Ha! When this guy himself was phliandering for years, destroying A FAMILY, THEN PREACHING FAMILY VALUES. What a punk.

Although I'm no fan of the Israeli fence creeping into the better farmland of the West Bank (part of it is an obvious land grab), they can and should do whatever the hell they want with their own (1967) borders to ensure their security. Hyde was a panderer, philanderer and...is there another word that rhymes. He sold out our national security interests, and that of our ally Israel's, for a few votes and some bucks. Weasel, always was and will be remembered as such.

Excellent work, Debbie!
Obviously, bribery is alive and well.
Money talks, and Hyde was willing to sell out his own country!

"Although I'm no fan of the Israeli fence creeping into the better farmland of the West Bank (part of it is an obvious land grab), "

How does one grab ones own land?
Hyde sucked!

Debbie -- your so-called evidence is not irrefutable , fact-based, but very circumstantial.

I realize the plight of Israel is very important to you but if you would simmer down and consider this -- try to imagine if this were your father, or your favorite uncle or your favorite grandfather. So far you have managed only to call names. I'll admit that Alarian is a nasty--you have that evidence locked in. But accepting contributions is not in itself incriminating especially since he said he gave it to charity--if the source is THAT unstable then giving to charity is the best way to deal with it. I would give Henry Hyde the benefit of doubt, no problem. The man was a true patriot; he was honorable in all his day-to-day dealings with people.

Debbie, if in your wildest imagination, if you think you would give the benefit of doubt to your favorite grandfather, your should concede to Henry Hyde that much. He is no longer able to defend himself, but his friends' testimonies -- a la NRO "Online Symposium" -- is quite compelling. As was his life.

Peace.

[HEY, HENRY HYDE'S SON (OR EXTRA-MARITAL GIRLFRIEND): WHAT IS "CIRCUMSTANTIAL" ABOUT "HE TOOK MONEY FROM SAMI AL-ARIAN," "INVITED MRS. AL-ARIAN TO TESTIFY," "OPPOSED ANTI-TERRORIST LEGISLATION ON BEHALF OF THE AL-ARIANS"? YOU HAVE YET TO PRODUCE A SINGLE PIECE OF EVIDENCE REFUTING ANYTHING I'VE WRITTEN ABOUT YOUR CORPULENT, DEAD, TRAITOR HERO. IF THIS IS A PATRIOT, SO IS AL-ARIAN, AND SO WAS YASSER ARAFAT, WHOSE COMPATRIOTS OVER HERE HYDE LIONIZED. HE NEVER COULD DEFEND HIMSELF ON THIS WHEN HE WAS ALIVE. I WILL NOT FORGET ABOUT IT, NOW THAT HE IS DEAD. WHICH PART OF STEALING ANOTHER MAN'S WIFE (WHILE HE, TOO, WAS MARRIED) AND BREAKING UP A FAMILY WAS "HONORABLE"? HENRY HYDE WASN'T FIT TO LICK THE DIRT OFF MY GRANDFATHER'S HEELS. GIVING THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT TO A TERRORIST-ENABLER JUST 'CUZ HE WAS A "CONSERVATIVE"--A NEW DEFINITION OF IDIOCY. HELEN KELLER HAD NOTHING ON YOU. DS]
