Just Got Back From Seeing Clint Eastwood's "Gran Torino"

By Debbie Schlussel

I just got back from a critics' screening of Clint Eastwood's new movie, "Gran Torino," and I'm floored. I loved, loved, loved it. "Dirty Harry" is back. Yes, I know it's not a Dirty Harry movie, but if you liked Eastwood in the days when he played law and order tough guys who got the bad guys--as opposed to the contemporary Eastwood of anti-war and pro-euthanasia movies--you'll love this.

I can't post a review yet until the movie comes out, but I can tell you I plan to give it FOUR REAGANS PLUS. It's definitely one of the best movies of the year. I bet it does mega-profits at the box office, as opposed to his recent anti-war bombs. This is the kind of movie Americans wanna see.

If you're counting your pennies, as we all are in these tough times, and can only see one movie over the holidays, this is the one. Well worth the ten bucks. The movie comes out on Christmas Day in limited release and wider release after.

Stay tuned for my review right before Christmas. For now, here's the trailer:

Miss Schlussel, Et Alii:

That sounds like MY kind of movie!

But, pay ten bucks to see a movie at a public theatre?

No movie is worth that!

Still, your reviews are enlightening and highly appreciated.

I'll let some other folks know about this film, and what you think of it.

On my blog, I refer them to your web site.

Thank you.

I agree Debbie, Love that grumpy Eastwood growl!!I will go and see this. Thanks for the heads up.

I predict this one starts a whole new wave of Eastwood flicks--we're all (real Americans that is) eager to see some punks get their asses properly kicked.

Yeah, the kinder, gentler Clint is boring.

Liberals caught caught committing smarmy, touchy-feely violations should be strapped down, (think a Clockwork Orange), and made to watch this movie 500 times per count.

Debbie, it looks better than anything I've seen in a long time, but I'm not coughing up $10 to see it. Maybe I'm getting old, but in my day I paid $1 at the local second tier movie hut. Then the guy who owned it got killed by his male trick and it closed down. Why gay men pay for it is beyond me, since they have sex w/each other like straight people shake hands (I'm told).

I have been waiting for Clint to come back. He's the best actor/director ever. I'll spend some money to see this movie. It looks awesome.

Thanks for the tip.
