Russell Simmons’ Political Director Blames America for Abdulmutallab Flight 253 Terrorist Attack

By Debbie Schlussel

You knew this was coming–far-left Americans blaming America for Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab’s Northwest Flight 253 attack, like they did with 9/11.  (Remember actress Maggie Gyllenhaal’s comments?)

Michael Skolnik, Russell Simmons’ Political Director, Blames America

In the past, I’ve written about hip hop mogul and Def Jam founder Russell Simmons’ alliance with anti-Semitic, anti-Israel, pan-terrorist, Muslim malefactors.  I wrote a column about it in The Jerusalem Post (which is reprinted here).  And, as I noted then, Simmons employs noted Nation of Islam organizer, anti-Semite, embezzler, and sexual harasser Benjamin Chavis Muhammad as the chief of his Hip-Hop Summit Action Network.  Plus Simmons is tight with Chavis Muhammad’s former employer, Louis Farrakhan.

Now, Simmons’ political director, Michael Skolnik, has come out to blame America and world poverty for the uber-wealthy Abdulmutallab’s terrorist attack.  It’s so predictable and so fraudulent, yet still so disgusting (thanks to The Jewish Internet Defense Force–JIDF–for the tip):

What we haven’t questioned, and maybe we should, is whether or not, our own personal approach to humanity is working.   Have we contributed to the hopelessness that millions of young men and women around the world feel? What kind of prejudices do we have that cause others to feel pain?  What kind of stereotypes do we hold that make others feel inferior?  What kinds of racist thoughts do we perpetuate that create fear and hatred?  Maybe we don’t need to wait on the President or other foreign governments to solve the problem of hope or the lack thereof.  Just maybe, if we do the work, look deep down inside of ourselves and have honest discussions, we can begin to solve these issues on our own.  In order to prevent the next “Farouk,” we must work harder to bring hope to every member of our generation.

We are the world. We are the children. Can’t we all just along? Blah, Blah, Blah.

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little. Uh, memo to Michael Skolnik and Russell Simmons: the American government gives more money to these countries and people than any other in the world, and it doesn’t work. Americans give privately more charity to the citizens of other countries than any other people in the world. It doesn’t work.

And Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab and Mohammad Atta and Osama Bin Laden and so many others like them led lives of privilege, filled with wealth.

We didn’t “contribute” to their alleged “hopelessness” (which they didn’t have). They had plenty of hope. But, instead, they chose to pin hopes on how many Americans and Westerner they could kill.

Until you wake up, face facts, and throw away your stupid psycho-babble BS, more American lives with be lost.

I guess none of us should be surprised by this, though. Simmons and his minions have a history of this. He famously praised and defended Hugo Chavez and his ridiculous anti-American UN speech.

More reasons to hate hip-hop.

The truism is there are no poor Islamic terrorists or Islamic homocide bombers. All of them came from well-off families. They weren’t deprived or disadvantaged when they decided to mass murder innocent people they don’t even know. There are “no root causes” with terrorism. There are simply evil people who choose to do evil. All of the Left’s excuses and sophistries for Islam won’t change the truth. The Blame America trope is getting old.

That hopelessness would be gone if they turned to God. Disgusting to hear this drivel spewed. I am tiredof hearing about hopeless people. There is hope for everyone, you just have to stop miring in your own self pity and bull crap and see the truth in front of your eyes.

The negativity associated with liberals is astounding.

Russell Simmons is promoting a pre-paid credit card now, one of those cards which charges the consumer hundreds of dollars to access their own money. This type of venture is usually used as a money grab to finance other questionable organizations.

seahawker on January 5, 2010 at 3:53 pm

Skolnick was the “moderator” of the now infamous NEA conference call where artists were paid…er…urged to support Obama’s agenda. That means Skolnick is essentially an Obama administration flak. What you hear from Skolnick is pretty much what Obama and his anti-semitic goons believe.

Thanks for covering this, Debbie.

I’m glad I sent it your way as I thought you would do a much better job with it than myself and as always, great job!

One other thing to address is that Simmons is Chairman of the Board of Directors for the “Foundation For Ethnic Understanding”, which is partnered up with ISNA:

You have done a great job explaining about ISNA on this site

-“ISNA was an unindicted co-conspirator in funding HAMAS terrorism , as noted in the Holy Land Foundation trial.”

-“Groups like CAIR, ADC, ISNA, MAS, and MPAC–the alphabet soup of Muslim and Muslim-dominated Arab groups–love to tout “Islamophobia” as a vast and wide-spread “bigotry” in America. But it ain’t so. The numbers simply don’t back it up.”

-“As I noted yesterday and many times in the past, the four Muslims caught trying to blow up New York synagogues and U.S. planes converted to Islam in prison, where the Muslim chaplaincy is controlled by CAIR, ISNA, and an alphabet soup of extremists and jihadists.”

-“At a 1995 ISNA [Islamic Society of North America] conference, Yusuf delivered this speech: “The Jews would have us believe that God has this bias to this little small tribe in the Middle of the Sinai desert and all the rest of humanity is just rubbish. I mean that this is the basic doctrine of the Jewish religion and that’s why it is a most racist religion.””

…and much much more. The funny thing is that Simmons and Skolnik claim to be concerned about hate speech in social media. What a joke! How can one be in bed with Jew haters and jihadists and claim to care about those issues at all? It’s the height of hypocrisy in my book.

Keep up the great work!

Personally,I’m also getting a little tired of the “Blame America First” crowd. Not everything we do is wrong. We’re dealing with a group of fanatics who believe that killing innocent people will send them straight to heaven. Let’s be honest here. One,I’ll tell you this. Their actions won’t send them to heaven. Two,these people also believe in forcing their religion on people who don’t want it forced on them.
I hope that sooner or later common sense will return.

Also,to be honest,I’ve never been fond of hip-hop or rap, either.

Ghostwriter on January 5, 2010 at 5:08 pm

The tighty-whitey terrorist, the shoe-bomber, and the rest of the Islamic ummah are children of Ishmael and we are children of Isaac. It’s as simple as that.

Rick on January 5, 2010 at 5:08 pm

I’ll say it again: “Hip-Hop” is the celebration of Stupidity.

Love the site, Debbie.

Don’t you think that Russell Simmons looks silly as a 50-something (maybe a weathered 40-something) in that silly hat? How can anyone take his opinions seriously? As everyone has already pointed out, the terrorists are all wealthy. But liberals like Simmons and their proxies like Skolnick never let the facts get in their way.

Chicago David on January 5, 2010 at 5:16 pm

The question is, is Skolnik now Osama Bin Laden’s new spokeperson? The Islamic terror-twit, who set his balls ablaze in the service of Allah, (a likely dry-run as he was being recorded), was reported by his very wealthy black parents to international intelligence, everywhere they could. If you visit the Russell Simmons websites (esp. their Facebook accts) it’s a reflection IMO of a black “chorus of chaos”, what they themselves call the “black community in ever greater crisis”. Might note Simmons himself last few weeks stated that the end to black violence has to start in the parent homes. So “Balls on Fire’s” parents were indeed the model of a successful black family Russell claims is good. But he’s got a “California Oreo” on his staff, as he is “affectionately” called, (for pretending to be all for colored minorities on the outside but ummm, not so much on the inside), and Russell’s own black readers are pretty fed up with some of Simmon’s ravings, likely pumped to him from Skolmik. Some of his followers, in a fit of buyer’s remorse, actually call their gonna-pay-my-rent savior Obama “Cheney’s kid”. So we do know his own organization is in an uproar. Hmmm. Grasping at straws.

So this is telling us something about a great deal of foreign aid and charitable contributions. Down the river.

Little Al on January 5, 2010 at 6:21 pm

Listening to Skolnik’s drivvel made me want to swat him upside the head with a frozen turkey. I seriously thought, while reading Skolnik’s BS, that he sounded just like that pathetic liberal school teacher on Beavis and Butthead.

Brain washing is more like it.

The flow of information is totally controlled in Islamic countries. The media, schools and the mosque spew an anti-semetic, anti-western, anti-anything that’s not Islam agenda.

We see “frustrated” young men because women are not allowed to participate in the sharing of information no matter how misguided it may be.

When will people WAKE UP and realize there is a war going on.

Sam Adams on January 5, 2010 at 7:09 pm

Bastard. It’s no accident that many mentally ill prisoners are very good at rhyming their regular speech content. They just take pride in doing it and then you see them start to hunch over and grab their genitals as their other hand begins to hover lazily in front of them in a sort of pointing gesture. Amazing that in the civilian world they get paid to do it. An entire culture has seemingly been taken over by it.

Impeach Obama

It never fails to amaze how the left can act in such an orwellian fashion with their ability to hold two contradictory ideas as true simultaneously- an example is this- the left screamed over Pres Bush sitting out the time under directives of the Secret Service for his protection while the initial events of 9-11 unfolded. This same left sees nothing wrong with a zero response from the President for several days when the under-roo bomber made his failed attempt.

Even more so is the latest to come from the administration that Gitmo is the cause of this kind of terrorism…oops- man made disaster (excuse me!). Again, prior to 9-11 I don’t think the Alahu Akbar crowd was anywhere near the detention center, and certainly not imprisoned there if they were. Strange how discordant their intellectual processes are. In the real world, anyone that dissociated from reality in their day to day lives, would be declared mentally ill, put on disability, and remanded to somewhere that the rooms are papered with rubber…

Mistress_Dee on January 6, 2010 at 8:21 am

Russel Simmons doing the proverbial victimization. He legitimized victimization in black inner cities. Gave ‘thug life’ all the rationalization to exist. Simmons is saying ‘as a black person become irresponsible because it is owed you.’ Now he is going global. Let’s blame America and do the damage his sh*t-hop has done to Blacks in America on a global scale.

Debbie, as you write this article Beyonce did a show for Gaddafi’s son. Obviously this sh*t-hop culture has no respect for our country.

CaliforniaScreaming on January 6, 2010 at 8:33 am

Any credibility Beyonce had as a human being went out the window when she married Jayzee. These young black female sungers are always doing duets with the rappers who make their living calling ’em b****** and h*’s. Kinda masochistic. And now that dweeb Justin Beeber is doing the same thing. (Ludricrous!?) I just don’t get how the parents of a tween girl would let their child worship a kid who associates with thugs. Where are there heads at? (Don’t answer; I know.)

impeachthedude on November 4, 2010 at 11:06 pm

I think we should blame the Amish…or puppies…yes, puppies are the root cause of terrorism.

Down with puppies.

The Terrorist's Advocate on January 6, 2010 at 8:58 am

I am so sick of these narcissistic idiots trying to place blame for Islamic terrorism on everything BUT Islam! How self-centered of these people to think that the private (or even public) thoughts of a group of individuals in America could possibly drive the homicidal actions of a group of people halfway across the world? Don’t the people in the Middle East realize that most Americans didn’t give a rat’s patootie about Muslims until they started blowing us up? Most Americans didn’t even KNOW about Islam until they started blowing us up? So then these narcissistic leftists are so condescending that they try to make AMERICANS believe that they (the lefties) know what the average muslim is thinking over in the Middle East? That somehow these lefties are oh-so-much smarter and in-tune with the Muslims than we mouth-breathing average Americans. How about this? Muslims, y’all stop blowing us up, and then we’ll stop thinking about you and hating you, OK? And you leftie artistes: just shut up and sing, OK?

Russell Simmons is an ediot!
wont be buying anything with his name on it!

Chantelle on August 26, 2010 at 4:27 pm

The media loves him. They spend a lot of time mainstreaming the gangstas and making parents (who won’t look into it) think they’re just a little “risque.” And rapping does not take talent. Every black kid busted is an “aspiring rapper” (who was just getting his life together. Oh, and an honor student, too.)
