Baby Daddy of the Year: How an NFL Multi-Millionaire Goes For Broke

By Debbie Schlussel
Yes, it’s still early in 2009. But I have the Baby Daddy of the Year Award winner all figured out. And, no, it isn’t Palin baby daddy Levi Johnston. Not even close. It’s Travis Henry. (Yeah, I know, I already nominated him in 2007. But he’s still the king of baby daddies, and he’s now back in the news whining about it.)
So many American males dream of being a pro athlete. They imagine tens of thousands in a stadium cheering them on. And then there’s the women–the groupies, the money, the fame. And, oh, yeah, the women.
Well, as the story of former NFL player Travis Henry illustrates, having an Islamic-style harem when you’re not a Saudi sheikh has its problems–problems for which the American taxpayers and American society will have to pay. I last wrote about Henry when he had garnishment orders for nine different children he fathered with nine different women in six different states. This guy is the sperm donor version of Johnny Appleseed. He’s sorta like the male version of the OctoMom Palestinian chick. And about as loathsome.

And nine kids won’t have a father. How many grow up to become criminals? Baby daddies (or baby mamas), themselves? High school drop-outs and drug users? Most of ’em, the statistics say.
As I noted back in 2007, Henry had a $25 million contract. He had a $100,000 car and spent $146,000 on jewelry. That’s why you’ll have to pay for his nine progeny.
Now this multi-millionaire cretin, who listens to his sex-seeking instinct no differently than a non-thinking animal, says he’s broke.
So sad, too bad. Would love to be a fly on the wall (or the videographer) at the Henry family reunion.
Memo to pro athletes: If you’re gonna live like Bin Laden (and have as many concubines and kids), make sure you–not American taxpayers–pick up the tab.

About 90% of the sports fans out there will still cheer this jack ass and call you a hater.

Not to disagree with the thought process that the guy has been definitely doing some serious TeePeeCreaping. I only hope that my daughter is hot enough to catch the eye of a millionaire athelete. Get knocked up. And get a monthly check that is enough where she herself will never have to work another day of her life. Tell me these women fell madly in love and thought for one second that this Prince Charming was going to take her to his Castle in the sky and live happily ever after. Gotta admit for a college athelete turning pro that can probably barely spell his name. The post secondary education system is not what i would consider pounding out the genius’s….. Love you on MC show every Fiday Deb……

Nine kids??? DA-YUMMM! I know pro-athletes get a lot of “play”, but most seem to know how to handle it without leaving 50 dozen babies in their wake.
It seems a teammate or two should have pulled him aside early in his career and warned him about the dangers of “going in raw”, especially when you’re dealing with groupies and women on the road, many of whom would love to have a pro athlete’s baby so they can have a stab at his loot. And I haven’t even mentioned the STDs you can catch, many of which do not go away with a shot of antibiotics.
And yes Samurai, I am a major sports fan, but I also happen to be a Black man who sees firsthand the devastation promiscuity and fatherlessness are causing in the Black community and their effects on youth. For Travis Henry to have that many kids is freakin’ ridiculous and tragically irresponsible…he deserves all the financial hardships he’s experiencing now. Guess he never listened to Kanye West’ Golddigger song…

A man who cannot control his sexual appetite has a problem. And the taxpayers shouldn’t bail him out – no one forced him to sleep with a lot of women and get them all pregnant!

Samurai, as an attorney and sports agent, Debbie represented many pro athletes. And while there are decent ones who are a credit to their sport, there are those who go about mindlessly ruining lives – their own and others. They’re not the ones whom any one should cheer on. Like Travis Henry, who never figured out what being a father means. There’s a lot more to being a man than playing football. I don’t feel sorry for him being broke. I feel sorry for the kids for whom he should be – and won’t be – around.

Wow 9 kids. Wilt Chamberlin aint got nothing on this guy. I would hate to ponder how many abortions he paid for. Well maybe they wouldn’t abort since they see his offspring as a gold ticket. I bet he isn’t broke and is just trying to get the government to pay for all his reminders. Maybe Henry should go for 2 more and have a football team. Yes He Can go all the Way…. And JibberJabber saying “going in raw”, LMAO!!
