Palouse Earthworm: Yet Another Example of Enviro-Nuttiness Land Grab 101

By Debbie Schlussel
As we know, one of the most used weapons of the enviro-nuts and eco-hypocrites of the green/global warming/climate change crowd is the endangered species list.
And the Palouse earthworm is a great example of how ridiculous their claims are and how blatant the greeniacs (not to be confused with the faux-uprising in Iran greeniacs) are in their fakery and phoniness.
The worm has ben seen only four times in more than a century (far less than the Loch Ness monster has been sighted), and environmental activists are using the worm to wreak havoc on agriculture in the Palouse Prairie, near the Washington/Idaho border. They say that the European earthworms–arriving here from Europe–invaded the Palouse worms’ habitat and overtook them, making them extinct. So sad, too bad. That’s what happens when you have natural competition beyond human control.

Palouse Worm v. Regular Worm

As much as I disliked the ignoramus, Islamo-pandering President Bush, at least his administration had the good sense to ignore this BS request. I don’t give Obama the same odds for intelligence here.

Fans of the giant Palouse earthworm are once again seeking federal protection for the rare, sweet-smelling species that spits at predators.
They filed a petition Tuesday with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service requesting the worm be protected as an endangered species.
“The giant Palouse earthworm is critically endangered and needs the protection of the Endangered Species Act to have any chance of survival,” said Noah Greenwald of the Center for Biological Diversity.
The center filed the lawsuit along with Friends of the Clearwater, Palouse Prairie Foundation, Palouse Audubon and Palouse Group of Sierra Club.
The worm has been seen only four reported times in the past 110 years, but supporters contend it is still present in the Palouse, a region of about 2 million acres of rolling wheat fields near the Idaho-Washington border south of Spokane.
Decades of intense agriculture and urban sprawl have wiped out much of the worm’s habitat, said Steve Paulson with Friends of the Clearwater. Only about 2 percent of the Palouse prairie remains in a native state, he said.

Hey, I know, let’s order “no agriculture or building” on all two million acres in Washington State. That way, we can be sure that the Loch Ness, er . . . the Palouse worm, can be protected and survive. And while we’re at it, perhaps the guv’mint should step in and protect Atari and Space Invaders. After all, they, too, are endangered species that lost out to Japanese imports that invaded their habitat. They, too, has only been seen four times in the last century or so.

The worm can reach 3 feet in length, is white in color and reportedly possesses a unique lily smell, said Greenwald, who is based in Portland, Ore. It is the largest and longest-lived earthworm in North America.

Damn. Whatever will we do without three-foot, white earthworms that smell like lilies?

The sad truth Debbie is that one day soon Americans may very well be on that endangered species list.

If the Luddites have it their way, just ban civilization. That’s what they really want to do. Its not the scenery that interests them.

Conservatives already are on the list, but I doubt there will be any “protections” afforded.
The “Greenpeace, PETA, ELF, and the whole GW fantasia crowd” has no interest in Space Invaders or Atari- they prefer the video game “Destroy all Humans”.

This thing’s got to be a gold mine for some worm farmers out there.
Can you imagine these in a bait store?
“Catch monster bass/catfish/whatever with Wormzilla!”
Surely there’s money to be made while continuing the species. Those so inclined can even cleanse their soul by purchasing a container of the giant white wigglers and releasing them into the wild (ala carbon credits!).
Voila! Ecolocical problem solved whilst creating economic opportunity.

Damn, I just don’t know. Hi,J M Lewis, Babies in this country already are thanks in no small part to the champion of infanticide, Barry Barack Soetoro Obama or whatever his real name is.

The endangered species act is nothing more than legalized extortion. Remember the spotted owl and the havoc it brought on the lumber industry.
The bird’s demise had everything to do with another bird, the Barred Owl, that had been moving west for about 100 years and was taking over the NWSO’s habitat, mating with them and eating them.n an unmitigated and ludicrous response to this new information on the NWSO’s demise, the government is going to start killing the Barred Owl. And all of this wonderful altruistic action to save a stupid bird was lobbied heavily by that great environmental organization of bird watchers, the Audubon Society, who sued government to get their way.
Such was the negligent decision by our all-benevolent government to drive over 40,000 Northwest loggers, mill operators and wood product employees out of business that ended up in divorces, lost homes and jobs, loss of income, loss of pride in their vital work and government’s half-hearted attempts at retraining. All for a bird that was going to go extinct anyway.
Scientists know it as “Made-As-Instructed”. A desired outcome is used to “doctor” the evidence to substantiate the science. Thus, these folks use manufactured science as propaganda to sell a specifically desired outcome to the government and the people. In other words, they lie. What they do is an outright fraud and should receive the same punishment that is inflicted on all criminals that perpetrate a fraud.
The same goes for the government and environmental-sponsored fraud that is man-caused global warming. These frauds take away constitutional rights and cost millions, sometimes billions, sometimes trillions of our tax dollars. If the CEO’s and presidents of private companies conducted science and defrauded their customers the way government and the environmentalists do, they would most surely go to jail.

I went to school at U of I in the Palouse and this news is rather surprising. I’d thought that the worm was merely rare, not endangered! I have to wonder what protecting it would entail. Would that mean knocking over houses or destroying the wheat farmers way of life?

Obama demands Jews not build in Jewish Land. He does that on behalf of his Arab friends in order to stifle natural growth, which in turn will suffocate Israeli national life.
If Obama now prevents America from her natural growth, and stifles agricultural activity necessary for survival, it could well be a case of “mida keneged mida.” (As all his other economic measures are also poised to do).
And if he persists in trying to force Israel to capitulate to terror, things will likely get a lot worse.
Early warning signs which went unheaded have come and gone…
Now, with a president who has no moral compass at all, not even a defective one, I fear America has descended to a level from which it will be nearly impossible for her to escape.

You’re from frigging Michigan. Yet by this logic I suppose you think that it would have been better without protections in place against things like sea lampreys and Zebra Mussels in the Great Lakes. After all, they’re just natural competition beyond human control. Who needs our native sport fish anyway. Not all those outdoorsmen you regularly fake support for, apparently.
