SCHMUCKS: Oscar Winner Boycotting Israel; Oscars Files Suit Over Israel

By Debbie Schlussel

An actor who won an Academy Award at last night’s Oscars ceremony is boycotting Israel. And the organization that owns and runs the Academy Awards is suing to persecute and exclude Israel. Forget #OscarsSoWhite. Reality Check: #OscarsSoAntiSemitic.

Mark Rylance won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor (Sylvester Stallone was robbed!) for his disgustingly sympathetic portrayal in the soft-peddled role as a real-life Russian spy tied to the Rosenberg spy ring in “Bridge of Spies” (read my review). No surprise, since the movie made the Communists look like “not such bad people” and morally equivalent to America. Rylance’s character is a charming nice guy, not the evil Russian spy he really was in real life.

Well, it turns out that Rylance is also an anti-Israel activist. And he’s boycotting the country. Rylance is one of 1,000 UK artists, musicians, actors, etc. who’ve pledged never to go to Israel. He signed the “Artists for Palestine UK Artists’ Pledge.” It says:

We support the Palestinian struggle for freedom, justice and equality. In response to the call from Palestinian artists and cultural workers for a cultural boycott of Israel, we pledge to accept neither professional invitations to Israel, nor funding, from any institutions linked to its government until it complies with international law and universal principles of human rights.

The thing is, Israel has complied with international law and universal principles of human rights more than any country in the Middle East, more than any Muslim country, and, frankly, more than any country on earth–Western or otherwise. Muslims have more rights in Israel than in any other country on earth. But don’t confuse Jew-haters like Mark Rylance with the facts.

And who wants him in Israel? But Rylance was “offered” a free trip to Israel. All Oscars nominees and hosts/presenters were.

You see, the State of Israel did a smart thing. Israel gave free, all-expenses-paid, luxury 10-day trips to Israel–valued at $55,000.00–as part of the Oscars swag bag given to Oscar nominees, host, presenters, and other such bigwigs. But even before winning his Academy Award, Rylance announced that he would under no circumstances accept the trip. Again, who need him him there?

But there’s an interesting kink in all of this, aside from Rylance. A few other actors and directors–the best known of which is Mike Leigh who wrote and directed the interminable bore, “Mr. Turner”–have denounced Israel and the free Israel trip in the Oscars swag bag. And, because of that, after 14 years of the swag bags, the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences (AMPAS) has suddenly decided to file suit against the swag bag provider, saying the contents are “unsavory.”

Apparently, the swag bags aren’t really associated with the actual Oscars. But AMPAS officials tacitly allowed them to be distributed to Academy Awards participants and VIPs and said and did nothing to stop them. But now with Israel associated with the swag bags, AMPAS filed a February federal lawsuit against the goodie bag provider, Lash Fary d/b/a Distinctive Assets, LLC. While the lawsuit doesn’t mention Israel, it’s clear that the free Israel trip is the reason for the AMPAS lawsuit.

So much for Oscars “diversity.” When Academy Prez Cheryl Boone Isaacs claims she is pushing for more of that, what she really means is more politically correct minorities, but Jews and Israel? Not kosher.

But #OscarsSoJewHating will never become a hip Twitter hashtag. Jews aren’t the in group and Israel isn’t an in country as far as Tinseltown is concerned.

That Was Then . . .

This Is Now . . .

Hi Debbie, not sure if you wrote about this before but also on that Artists for Palestine is Asif Kapadia who won yesterday for Amy “a 2015 British documentary film that depicts the life and death of British singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse”

P: I did not know that or write about it before. Thanks for informing us. Not surprised b/c Kapadia is Muslim. Also, Amy was Jewish, and her parents say he lied and defamed her and them in his “documentary.” DS

We’re talking about a Brit here, right? The country that has supported Muzzies over the centuries, starting from the Crimean War as well as support to Muslim fiefdoms in the Indian subcontinent, to this day.

Don’t be surprised – this is par for the course for the Ummah Kalifate.

Infidel on February 29, 2016 at 2:46 pm

“Ummah Kalifate” – that’s bloody brilliant, mate. Love it.

Too bad he’s not going; he’d actually learn something. Instead, he chooses to live in ignorance.

It is grotesque. The Oscar viewership, from what I have read, is down 8% from last year. All of the phony controversies that it courts have not endeared it to audiences.

Pushing antisemitism is a newer Oscar endeavor that has gone from subtle to unsubtle.

‘Bridge of Spies’ makes Rylance’s character sympathetic in the sense that he’s a true believer who doesn’t waver but the notion that it makes the Soviet bureaucrats, interrogators and the system they serve in any way sympathetic is totally false.

Vic on February 29, 2016 at 4:24 pm

Without doubt there is endemic anti-semitism in Hollywood that manifests itself constantly.

AT the same time, its particular prominence at the Oscars at this time, is, quite likely, a way of appeasing Blacks, who are especially anti-semitic. (As an aside, think about why Hillary beat Bernie by so much among Blacks in So. Carolina.)9

Little Al on February 29, 2016 at 6:01 pm

I’m not surprised in the slightest that Rylance got the Academy Award. The Academy always favors leftist, anti-Israel, Islamopandering nominees. The only thing that surprised me is that he didn’t use the Oscar win as an opportunity to make a speech spreading his political poison.

And, it also helps that he had Steven Spielberg in his corner, who, surprisingly is strongly “pro-Israel.” We’re supposed to assume this is so because Spielberg has Jewish heritage and because Spielberg has said he’s “pro-Israel”:

“I am as truly pro-Israeli as you can possibly imagine. . . From the day I became morally and politically conscious of the importance of the state of Israel and its necessity to exist, I have believed that not just Israel but the rest of the world needs Israel to exist. But there is a constituency that nothing you can say or do will ever satisfy. The prism through which they see things is so profound and deeply rooted and so much a part of their own belief system that if you challenge that, you challenge everything they believe in.”–Steven Spielberg

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think it takes much imagination at all to envision a Spielberg as being more strongly pro-Israel, to put it mildly. Like maybe not going out of your way to employ anti-Israel performers? I guess I’m part of that “constituency” that Spielberg refers to where we insist on looking at a person through the prism of reality, where we base our view of a person’s positions primarily based on their actions, not so much their words, particularly when their actions say one thing and their words the opposite.

RA: Yeah, Spielberg is sooooo “pro-Israel” that he made the anti-Israel terrorism apologist movie, “Munich.” DS

Well, here we all are in a world where:

Yikes! I’m going to Lafayette Coney Island to see reality.

Dicaprio finally wins and he spends most of his time mouthing off about “climate change?” Every year this spectacle gets worse.

Tommy Thomas on February 29, 2016 at 9:07 pm

Didn’t watch the garbage show (basically a “circle-fest,” if you know what I mean), but not surprised at all that Leo the Nit-wit spewed his “Climate Change” crapola instead of thanking those who made his “win” possible. Like all good unthinking Libtards, the guy is utterly robotic in his so-called belief in AGW.

What Oscars?

If the asshole British lived up to it word (Balfour Agreement) million of Jew would have escaped the holecaust and moved to Israel.
The Jew have more right to Medina then the Muslin have to any of the land of Israel.

The British never had any problem in ethnically cleansing land they captured. Ask the Cajun about being kicked out of “Noca Scotia”

I have not watched the Oscar since 1970s. George C Scott was right it look like a meat parade.
I read an article about what Chris Rock said
By the way all that Chris Rock said was criminally libel and he all Black lives matter should be facing accessory to murder for all the murder these people encourage.

It is 20 time or more likely that a Black man kills a white man than the opposite way around.

madman on February 29, 2016 at 11:56 pm

Actually, the ratio is around 200 to 1. Black lives shatter!

Primetime on March 1, 2016 at 2:16 am

I never watch the Oscars.

I tweeted that Sly Stallone wouldn’t probably get the recognition of his peers.

Whatta a shock.

There’s nothing redeeming about Hollywood and its long running contempt for America.

NormanF on March 1, 2016 at 2:40 am

I have not watched the Oscars in a long time and this is one of the many reasons why. I am glad that these anti-Semites show their true colors so that way I can avoid seeing their movies on the cinemas. What ever happened to the actors thanking everyone including their grandmas and then be gone from stage?

I blame the Academy of Motion Picture Sciences for allowing this crap to happen year after year. Again this is one of the many reasons why it is best to watch Impractical Jokers on Spike Tv or anything else than the Oscars.

Mario on March 1, 2016 at 5:16 am

I make a point of not seeing any movies whose actors are anti-Semitic or anti-Israel

Lee on March 1, 2016 at 5:45 am

I haven’t watched the oscars in Decades, but the anti semtic thing has been going on forever. I find better movies coming out of other countries but I guess everyone has noticed the anti anything that isn’t muslim these days? .In these times Israel really needs our support because if the scum presently being supported by Turkey and obama ( and the leftist sheep) manage a return from their slide to oblivion there’s no stopping them. As for the Brits, I feel for those who love their England but they are being drowned in a sea of cult followers who are insisting that sharia has a place in the legal system…

I visit your page often. I thought this would be an appropriate place to share a post from blogger “Bookwormroom”. I came across her blog when the article below was linked somewhere else. I think she is very good a worth a look because I am liking the other things she writes as well.
But within the article which I have pasted the link to below, she points out this:

……..”I don’t think it’s a secret that Europe has always fervently supported the Palestinians, and has used the UN (and, most particularly the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, aka UNRWA) as the engine of that support. The following are some of the myriad reasons why it turned its back on Israel, the only liberal democracy in the Middle East, and instead threw its support behind adherents of a totalitarian, misogynistic, antisemitic, homophobic, anti-Christian theocracy.

Many (including me) believe that Europe never forgave the Jews for Auschwitz. It was in its maddened fury to rid itself of the Jewish outsider that Europe revealed the most loathsome side of itself. It doesn’t take a psychiatrist to figure out that Europe wants to erase that stain by saying that the Jews, through their proxy nation of Israel, are just as bad as the Europeans were, thereby relieving the Europeans of their unique genocidal burden. The reality that the facts don’t support the Europeans (fact number one being the soaring population growth amongst Palestinians) is meaningless to a group that’s found a lie that allows it to walk away from its sins……”
I think she is correct.
My husband and I just recently watched Bridge of Spies and had not read anything at all about it. I had no idea he was connected to the Rosenbergs. I remember as a kid seeing lots of movies that involved the Berlin Wall, a wall that anyone under 40 has no real clue about; so I was glad to see a current movie trying to capture the harsh reality of a divided city. BUT, the movie did persuade me in ways that I was uncomfortable with afterwards. Now I know why. Anyway, there it is, the world as we knew it is going to crap, and we are all screwed. Knowledge is at its all time lows thanks to all the manipulative and corrosive methods of teaching our young ones from K-12 and beyond.

Surprise, surprise, surprise!(doing my best Gomer Pyle imitation folks.) We have another clueless anti-Israel Jew-hating Hollyweird nincompoop who also is a moron. The fact that “Mr.” Rylance is from the UK also speaks volumes. That country has all but capitulated to all things Muslim so it stands to reason that the dopey British “artists” would sigh a stupid pledge condemning Israel for it’s “harsh” treatment of the poor Palestinians. What utter rubbish. You’re right about two things Debbie. One facts are stubborn things to stupid Hollyweird libtards and two Who needs people like Rylance stinking up their country. I’m sure that the good people of Israel don’t give a swag bag about this D-bag ever stopping by. Speaking of D-bags;
I haven’t watched the Academy Awards since Titanic won all those awards back in the late 90s. The show hasn’t had a great host since Billy Crystal and I saw snippets on the news and read online that Chris Rock sucked big time. The unfunny racist clown did what I though that he was going to do make jokes about the Oscars lack of diverrrrrsity. The crack about Rihanna and Jada Pinkett-Smith was funny though. Hit two female twits in one shot. What’s not to like. Said Jew-hating D-bag mentioned above got the Best Supporting Oscar. Yeah Stallone was robbed on that one.
Leonardo DiCraprio. All that time trying to win a Best Actor nod and when you finally win one you hypocritically get on you “climate change” high horse. This is one of my pet peeves about the Hollyweirdo crowd. Idiots like Leo need to just stick to their scripts and act. We “little people” do NOT like being lectured by you morons. I have two questions for this D-bag. Hey Leo how much electricity does you big house use everyday? Does your private jet run on Hollywood hot air(in that case fuel shouldn’t be a problem?) Is it any wonder that our retard Vice President Biden got a standing ovation by dimwits like DiCraprio and Rylance. It just goes to show you who they have the most in common with. I’m just glad that vapid Hollyweird bobble head Jennifer Lawrence didn’t win Best Actress. She is another over exposed Hollyweirdo twit in the same mold as Rihanna and Pinkett-Smith. On a good note viewership for the self-congratulatory love fest was at an all time low. Serves the schmucks(thanks Debbie)right.

Ken B on March 1, 2016 at 12:10 pm

I only hope that Mark Ryland be in a situation that he requires medical treatment or diagnoses that requires using technology that was invented and produced in Israel. Please refuse to allow the medical specialists to use then to save your life!
Perhaps no one gave you the news that Jews make up less than 1%
Of world population but have received 40% of the Pulitzer Prize awards!

Don on March 1, 2016 at 7:48 pm

Haven’t watched any of the ‘you-pat-me-I’ll-pat-you on the back’ awards in ages. Don’t need any of those insiders to tell me what’s good and what isn’t. I know what I like and if I like it I’ll watch it. There’s my award, worth more than any Oscar.

theShadow on March 1, 2016 at 10:43 pm

They should give an all expenses paid trip to Gaza and the West Bank next time…

Bg on March 2, 2016 at 1:44 am

Hi Debbie – As a British cinema and theatre goer, I can assure you that ALL our sheep-like leading actors and actresses are anti-Israel, not just Rylance: it’s kind of fashionable, like yoga and colonic irrigation.

And please don’t all blame ‘the British’ for cowering before the March of Islam. It’s our liberal political elite who are to blame for this – as in the rest of the West. A higher percentage of British soldiers fighting Jihadist thugs in Afghanistan have died than US troops, and we should still be each other’s best allies.

Best wishes from the formerly Great Britain

CH: Who put and keeps the “liberal political elite” who cower to Islam in power? The British people. If you don’t support what is going on, you’d choose something else. But the majority of the British people clearly do support what is going on and are okay with it. Don’t worry, though. Nothing special or unique about that, as we have the same thing going on here and are only 5-10 years behind you in this idiocy. DS

We now know why Stallone did not win the Oscar. Rylance favors boycotting Israel and portrays in a sympathetic way a vicious Soviet spy who worked for one of the most genocidal totalitarian regimes ever to rule (only Mao’s Red China killed more people and Hitler came close).
