Shark-Jumper Extraordinaire: So Far, New “24” Sucks

By Debbie Schlussel
So, it’s about a half-hour into the new “24” prequel movie, and I have one word: yaaaaaaawn.
So boring, and the PC African theme doesn’t help. It feels like the most possibly boring college course in anthropology or archeology that you mistakenly took because you thought the professor was cute or that you were forced to take because of some stupid requirement in broken clay pot appreciation. Didn’t I already see this in “Blood Diamond” and “The Constant Gardener” (both of which were box office IEDs)? This “24” movie should have been called, “Son of ‘The English Patient'”. What a shocker that far-left pan-Islamist “Human Rights Watch” just ran an ad during the show . . . or is that a public service announcement that FOX gave them for free?
“24” was fun when it was about terrorist plots inside America with ties to Islam. Now, it’s just a yawner. With the writers strike, Jack Bauer should have retired along with his show. It’s simply jumped the shark.

Oh, and by the way, some gay activist in New York is upset that I wrote that Cherry Jones–the actress who plays “24”‘s new chick Prez–has the name and brains, but not the looks, of a porn star, and that she wants eight years of Obama. The name speaks for itself, and reading her comments, I’m sure you’ll agree.
And this same gay activist wants you to know that Ms. Jones is an openly lesbian spokesdude. Hmmm . . . Why didn’t the liberals who write “24” (yes, they are all liberals, despite producer/creator Joel Surnow being a conservative) make her a gay President? That would have, at least, added some comic relief to this horribly unexciting show.
Did you watch? Do you agree?
For me, it’s strictly:
Zzzzzzzz . . . .
It’s sad when the only thing exciting on the show is that computerized time-clock. “24: Redemption” is more like “24: Regurgitation”.

I enjoyed it. I went into it expecting a B grade action movie and pretty much got what I expected. My favorite part was when Jack and the UN aid worker were arguing back and forth. One of the best lines came from that exchange-“You can go hide in the shelter with the other children!” So true about the UN!
I know the show has the potential to be so much better. And yes, it is way too predictable, PC, etc. now. But, I’ve waited long enough for my man Jack! I just wanted to relax and enjoy it.

I will admit my knowledge on various organizations is lacking. I had only heard of Human Rights Watch in passing. Are they like Amnesty International, in that they do some small good things but still blame America and Israel for everything wrong in the world? Or, is there something else much more sinister?
I feel rather frustrated, since this is obviously a problem (child soldiers, among other things). I just don’t know who to trust with my money anymore. Obviously I’m not going to give to anything that the UN is involved in.
I don’t recall any articles you had done about Human Rights Watch. However, my rectal-cranial inversion syndrome has been acting up. Would you mind linking a few things describing Human Rights Watch and their Islamic leanings? Thanks.

America has suffered unlawful deception from the Alinsky group.
If the this group steals power on January 20th, it plans to crush liberty.
Only the United States Supreme Court can relieve this outrage.

I “watched” it, but mostly with my back toward the screen, as I was reading a newspaper. The only thing it’s good for is comic relief. The PC weakness turned me off several seasons ago. However, this time, not only did I enjoy the exchange you cited, but also the scene in which the UN representative tried to save his skin by selling out Bauer and the kids.

I couldn’t agree more with your review of 24 … and if Cherry Jones is the best they can do, in regards to their “SpokesDude”, then I guess Debbie you rest your case.

I was thinking the same thing Debbie. I was watching and 15 minutes into it I thought it was Blood Diamond or Tears of the Sun. Ughhh…I cant even look at Cherry Jones without puking up a bit and the African theme is a little too Darfur (boo-hoo) for me. I’ll stick to watching The Unit and NCIS. From their episodes they still arent afraid to show Islamic terrorists for what they really are…terrorists

The show caught my attention, although I can see why others would lose interest. We still don’t know why investors are supporting the brutal rebels. One has to guess that the country holds some valuable commodity. Dollars for dimes says it is: uranium. The producers hint at a major power play in DC. I don’t think “24” has used a “dirty bomb” plot yet. The series could get interesting as long as they get away from the tired child soldiers angle. Yah, “Blood Diamond” exhausted that story, and did so with skill.

Debbie I agree! felt horrible to feel this way as 24 has been a favorite for so long. I told hubby, how many more seasons will it be the same story: mole at CTU, mole in government, evil rich guy scheme….
I still loved the whole Drazen story line. Bring Nina back via a prequel.
