Michigan School Did What?! Anti-Gun Absurdity Hits a New Low

By Debbie Schlussel

Stop the anti-gun insanity. Now America’s kids can’t have toy World War II soldiers with guns? WOW.

The idyllic “small town America” and its values only go so far when small town public schools are run by politically correct morons so scared of guns that a kid can no longer celebrate his birthday with cupcakes topped with World War II soldiers who bear guns. It’s absurd. We used to live in a less violent America in which kids were allowed to eat cupcakes and play with plastic toy soldiers bearing guns. Now, we live in a world in which kids aren’t allowed to eat cupcakes (because it offends the food police) and in the odd case where they are, the cupcakes can’t feature plastic toy soldiers with guns.

Idiotette: Absurdly Politically Correct Elementary School Principal Susan Wright a/k/a Susan Chambers Offended by “Insensitive” Soldier Cupcake Toppers

At least, that’s the case in Caro, a small Michigan town. Casey Fountain found out the hard way. His son’s third grade class wasn’t allowed to have World War II replica toy soldier cake toppers on cupcakes for the son’s birthday party in school. It’s all thanks to Schall Elementary School’s absurdly politically correct principal Susan Wright a/k/a Susan Chambers (news reports call her, “Susan Wright,” but the school directory I found calls her, “Susan Chambers”–perhaps she got married and changed her surname accordingly), who said the cake toppers were “insensitive” in light of the shooting massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School. HUH? It’s like saying you can’t have cake toppers that look like cars because, after all, more American kids are killed by drunk drivers than were killed at the Newtown massacre. Watch the two video news reports, below.

WNEM TV 5

School officials actually believe this seismic idiocy is legitimate policy in the “education” of kids. No wonder America’s kids–especially those coming out of public schools–are dumber than ever.

If you are a parent who thinks your kids shouldn’t play with toy soldiers or even see them atop cupcakes, you’re a failure as a parent. It’s funny how the parents and school administrators who are so anti-gun are often the same ones who, just a few years later in their kids’ lives, do nothing to stop kids from seeing violent and sexually explicit movies or playing violent video games.

The cupcake toppers and toy soldiers are nothing compared with the things in America that actually do promote violence.

Also, I wonder if school officials would have protested so strenuously (or even at all), if the cupcake topper was some sexually explicit or violent rapper. Don’t count on it.

A nation whose kids are fully coddled and insulated by incompetent adults is a nation whose kids will grow up to be even more incompetent adults. Sadly, we’re already there in America.

And it’s getting geometrically worse.

I don’t know if you’ve ever been to Tuscola County, but this lady might well be the only person in the entire county who DOESN’T own a gun. I have a feeling this won’t play well in Caro.

Good point about us kids who played with toy guns, ate sugary cereal, chewed bubble gum, candy and pop until we were sick turned out to be a relatively conscientious generation, but kids after these inane rules and heavy-handed p.c. training are frighteningly violent and aggressive.

Educators’ solution? Heap on more of the same, lather, rinse, repeat.

“about us kids who played with toy guns, ate sugary cereal, chewed bubble gum, candy and pop until we were sick turned out to be a relatively conscientious generation”

Yeah, but aren’t we the ones responsible for this overly PC generation?

pete bone on March 9, 2013 at 9:37 am

“Yeah, but aren’t we the ones responsible for this overly PC generation?”

No. As a “gen-x” elder born in 1962, I and other gen-x people are too young to be baby-boomers but old enough to remember the “normal” America.

The baby-boomers who were the radical hippies, communists and beatniks of the ’60s are the educators, policy-makers and their ilk were the last ones to benefit segregation and the ones who burned the bridges after themselves and who now gleefully watch the implementation of their progressive policies as subsequent generations suffer from them. They are the “silver ponytails”, the Clintons, the Ayers, the Axelrods, etc.

We are reaping the (poisonous) fruits of hippie (baby boomer) values and policy, now.

Bam! Nicely done DS_ROCKS! You actually know the facts and are not a hand-wringing PC Libtard.

Just another example of the dope coming out and being slammed by a learned regular here.

And back under the rock goes the Cockroach. His dumb ideology smashed yet again. He’ll come out again soon, be made to look like the fool he is and back under the rock the roachie goes ’til his next spanking. :P

Its worse.

Kids are actually arrested for playing cops and robbers these days.

My favorite is a kid dismissed from school for having disarmed a threatening student and turning in the offender’s gun.

The anti-gun hysteria in this country has reached the point were we are more afraid of guns than of all the things that can and do harm us.

Only in America.

More on the idiocy of those we elect and/or appoint to look after the children. Brainwashing.

If people really want to learn what is going on in the schools, check out these websites:

As far as I know, CSCOPE is in Texas schools only. Since it is described as “lesson plans” the State Board of Education does not have to approve it, just the local school board. It could be in your schools and you wouldn’t know it. This is the one I think the president was referring to when he said he thought is should be in all schools
http://www.txcscopereview.com/2012/cscope-rotten-apple-award/

This is a group that is fighting CSOPE.
http://womenonthewall.org/cscope

The is the website that explains the Gulen Movement which is run by a group from Turkey and taught by teachers from Turkey who can barely speak english. I think this is the one you were writing about when Rick Perry was running for President. These are charter schools and in Texas are given the okay by the State Board of Education.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%BClen_movement

This lists schools in the US that are using the Gulen Method. Right now there seems to be only one in Michigan.
http://turkishinvitations.weebly.com/list-of-us-schools.html

Gracie on March 9, 2013 at 7:39 am

One other point, CSCOPE costs $7.00 per child.

Your tax dollars at work.

Gracie on March 9, 2013 at 7:46 am

The escalating stream of news stories in recent years pertaining to absurd public school policies around the country, is merely more evidence of the Left’s attempted indoctrination of an entire generation of kids. The anti gun crusade is just one of several issues, as it is a good bet that eighty plus percent of kids under eighteen believe there is a global-cooling-I-mean-global-warming-I-mean-climate-change-crisis, while only about forty percent of the general population believe the Socialist climate change scam.

waynesteapartyworld on March 9, 2013 at 8:32 am

How does one study history without studying weaponry? I have rarely met a boy who isn’t interested in the battles that happened throughout history.

It’s a great jumping off point for getting them interested in history and literature.

And how many creative references to weaponry and historic battles do we read in great literature? Surely we want boys to read great books and think great thoughts, right?

Never mind. Disband government schools. They were not designed to teach history and great literature. They were designed to train obedient drones who do not know history nor read great literature nor think great thoughts.

No critical thinking necessary–or allowed. Just OBEY!

Aurora on March 9, 2013 at 10:48 am

“Surely we want boys to read great books and think great thoughts, right?”

Aurora, God forbid a boy or girl, for that matter should think any thougts, let alone great ones. The public school system is designed to prevent that at all costs thanks to John Dewey, who, “In his advocacy of democracy, Dewey considered two fundamental elements—schools and civil society—as being major topics needing attention and reconstruction to encourage experimental intelligence and plurality. Dewey asserted that complete democracy was to be obtained not just by extending voting rights but also by ensuring that there exists a fully formed public opinion, accomplished by effective communication among citizens, experts, and politicians, with the latter being accountable for the policies they adopt”

    IOW, group think and speak.

Stupidity is a normal behavior in today’s world. No reason. No common sense. No critical thinking. Their way of the world is our way. We will go along with it, or else we are ignored and deemed irrelevant to live.

That’s exactly their agenda for American society folks. It’s already started. Only we the American people can stop it.

You missed the bigger low from late August.

A school in Nebraska requested that a deaf pre-schooler change the name-sign that he has used since he was 6 months old because it resembles a gun. For deaf folks, the name-sign is frequently more important to them than what appears on their birth certificate.

The kid, Hunter Spanjer, uses a name-sign incorporating the letters H and R with Hunt.

After calls from outraged folks across the country, the Grand Islands Public Schools district backed down from this idiocy.

Robert on March 9, 2013 at 4:37 pm

And the Superintendent says that the military is not being ‘disrespected’. A fairly new word in the English language, introduced by inept lowlifes such as Mrs. Conyers, who cannot accept that people’s scornful attitudes about them are justified.

So they invented a new word: ‘disrespect’.

And now the Caro Superintendent, mediocrity that he is, has picked up on the term, showing once more, the absence of intelligence among our primary and secondary ‘educators’.

Little Al on March 9, 2013 at 4:51 pm

Since Ms. Chambers does not like American soldiers from World War II, I am forced to ask a certain question. Is she a closet Neo-Nazi or Fascist? Would she find a Hitler, Mussolini, or Tojo figure more appropriate? That seems to be the message from the like of Ms. Chambers when she denigrates those who saved us from permanent isolation or probable conquest.

Worry01 on March 9, 2013 at 8:20 pm

Dear Ms. Wright: My father, a decorated veteran, was one of those green Army men and for months risked his life liberating death camps all across Germany during World War II. Perhaps you’ve heard of a very famous one called Auschwitz? If not, I’d advise you google it – it’s quite interesting. If not for his (and thousands more) bravery we would all be reading ‘Mein Kamph’ on our soil, and America would not exist. My son, an Officer in the Marine Corps, is currently serving our Country, and defending your right to behave in a manner that, frankly, I find quite insulting.

My father was not the enemy. My son is not the enemy. Our Soldiers are not the enemy.

It’s the disturbed people that have a long and well-documented history of psychological problems that are. But today I am left to question whether it’s your ilk that may be the real enemy.

TBarbmich on March 9, 2013 at 8:56 pm

This kind of hysteria is not new. I saw it in the schools forty years ago when I was a kid. It is liberalism, which should really be called communism. When the liberals running the schools, even back then, would catch a boy with some kind of toy gun, knife, toy soldier, anything like that, which they had made plain to everyone was against the rules and could not be brought to school, instead of calmly enforcing the rule, they would go into a panic, just like what is hitting the news today.

Soon, the schools will teach that we won WWII by winning pillow fights.

In New England, the Minuteman mascot of one school was changed so that the flintlock he was holding was removed from the image. Again, that fight must have been won by throwing rotten tomatoes a the British and telling them, “Scat.” Of course, since our alliance (i.e., doing their fighting) since World War I, schools had failed to teach the nasty little details of the American Revolution, eg, how the British tortured and starved POW’s, and how they raped the women when they captured a town or city, as they did in NYC.

Be that as it may, for those of you who may be parents, here are a list of things that are acceptable and not acceptable at public schools:

Unacceptable:

guns
American History
Judeo-Christian ethics
the Pledge of Allegiance
Patriotism,
Republicans
Economics
parental control
hard sciences
Teachers educated in that which they are teaching

Acceptable:

Gay Marriage
Islamic History
lessons on the relativity of truth
Oral sex lessons
the Islamic Religion
hatred of Israel
lessons on the evils of America
lessons and songs singing the praises of the great leader (Obama)
Teachers Unions where teachers hold up picket signs with misspelled words
All liberal Democrats
Spending and Big Government
lectures where students are taught to tell the school if their parents have guns
layers of administration
sexting
teachers having sex with students (as long as they are not caught)
sex parties
“aggrieved” minorities (teaching everyone they are a victim of society and thus their failures are the result of racism/sexism)
tutoring classes which exclude whites and asians

Skunky on March 10, 2013 at 8:11 pm

In 8th grade, in 1971, our social studies class put on a mock U.N. general assembly meeting. We were to discuss Indian-Pakastani relations, or Bengladesh, I forget. Everyone had a role, and Dan Eldridge was to be the observor for the PLO. He came dressed in a military jacket, and in the middle of discussions, pulled out a defused hand grenade and announced, “Now, we will discuss MY issues.” A hand grenade. A. Hand. Grenade.

It was great! The kids went nuts and couldn’t stop laughing. I had the role of the chair and the teacher said, “Well, what are you going to do about it?” I asked for a vote, and the assembly voted that perhaps we’d better table the Indian issue and discuss whatever was troubling the PLO representative.

I am sure that Dan got an “A” for his creativity. Today, he’d be in juvenile hall.

Another innocent tradition slapped down by the PC Patrol. Only in public schools which have deteriorated at an alarming rate. This whole country has gone off the deep end on so many levels…I’m heading for my compound.

IceNoMore on March 11, 2013 at 11:55 am

Any truth to the obvious that as schools become more feminized, they become more PC? Check out the roster of teachers and administrators at any school. You’ll see the dearth of men teachers, especially in the formative ages of K-6 kids. The rare men listed are generally on the custodial staff. What a great message that sends to young boys.

JeffT on March 11, 2013 at 6:29 pm

Readers need to look up the term “political correctness” and they will find the original name the Marxists gave to the program they developed in Germany, 1923 was called Cultural Marxism. This is what is destroying us since the Islamists, communists, Fabian socialists, left-wing radicals, etc. stick together under this banner. This is why when someone calls a terrorist, a Muslim terrorist, they get blasted as being racists.

Frank Livingston on March 15, 2013 at 8:28 am

I’m late to this game, but that guy’s just got a machine gun. Imagine the fuss over the guy with the flamethrower. (At least, my army men had them.)

What upsets me most about this issue is that there is so much more to do than ban high-capacity magazines, or check mental health; we need to take a serious look at our violent culture. Not only have we engaged in pointless wars, promoted violent regimes, and generally muscled our way around the world for half a century, we also export this glorification of violence in our movies, TV shows, and video games. It’s outrageous that the efforts to “fix” gun violence don’t include talking about this point.
