Folks here’s a letter I sent to Sony E~
Sony Ericsson Public Relations Department,
After reading about your CONTINUING sponsorship of the Dubai Open and other bigoted Tennis events (debbieschlussel.com), EVEN AFTER the Jewish Israelis were refused participation in the event, I, as a Catholic in good conscience, must boycott any further Sony and affiliated product sponsor purchases.
While I purchase mostly Apple Computer products, the corporate executive and other staff often ask me for recommendations regarding PC purchases. In the recent past I have mostly recommended Sony Vaio purchasing, and sometimes Fujitsu. HOWEVER, I WILL NO LONGER RECOMMEND ANY ITEMS FROM YOUR VAST PRODUCT LINE AND I WILL ACTIVELY DISCOURAGE OTHERS FROM PURCHASING YOUR PRODUCTS as well~
I only wish that I could return my Sony H1 Camera that I purchased 2.5 months ago. I was, however, able to take back my recently purchased Sony Dream Machine.
I will further take note of ATP Tour sponsors and boycott their products as well (Gatorade, Whirlpool etc.).
The “ugliness” of your event with itsí ongoing discrimination regarding the Israeli athletes and the citizens of the state of Israel, and your allowance of their continued human rights violations UPON THE WORLD STAGE gives me great pauseñ
That you could make “happy, happy” about your tournament while Israeli athletes must bear this “new horror of exclusionî in silence, angers me to no end. Afraid of the Muslim bogeyman, or rather bully, are we? Afraid of Islam with their agenda of world hate, but especially the Jewish!! That you lack the courage to provide adequate leadership on this issue, and your failure to DEMAND the “no exclusion” compliance Dubai originally promised, shows me that you don’t really care.
Business as usual, you say.
We’ll see.
Debbieschlussel.com and other sympathetic blogs have a large audience in this, the era of new media. Think about how a world-wide boycott of your product line from all people of ìgood willî could affect your holiday business this year, and looking forward.

Personally I am tired of pandering to Islamic lunacy and being asked to -be sensitive- to their needs when they ARE ONLY intolerant of everyone else.
Don’t support tennis anywhere this year and longer IF THATS WHAT IT TAKES and the tournament in Dubai will eventually be yanked or forced into submission.
Oh and I hope you are buying Danish products!

I went to a school in the mid-1970s that was 86% Jewish. The parents of the Jewish kids bought mostly two types of cars- Mercedes Benzs and Cadillacs. Getting the Jews to boycott Mercedes is laughable. Sport figures seem to carry diplomatic immunity in their mindset, look at Bobby Fischer.
How does the USC Track coach, Cromwell, go on record with a major Los Angeles Newspaper, stating that he doesn’t feel two Jewish athletes should compete in the 1932 Olympics in Los Angeles because it will offend Hitler? Then, we fight a bloody World War against Hitler while he stays at home, then the US selects him to coach the first post war US Olympic Team!
All the money in the world is not going buy legitimate sports competition. That is why airplane racing, polo, and big game hunting is such a joke. Deep down most people don’t care if they crash, break their neck, or get run over by the animal. They’re simply fantastic sportsmen in their own minds.
Better to boycott the event itself here in the United States than try and organize a boycott of the sponsors. If few people attend or watch then what incentive would there be to sponsor the event for a company like Mercedes? How about this proposal? Instead of sitting on your big fat butt, go out and play the sport yourself. And take your bicycle instead of that Mercedes!

You might wanna look up the bahrain GP in that case. Everyone in the mid east in anti JEW. You say they are nice folks and u get thrown in jail (happend in saudia arabia) encourage discussion then you lose ur job (as in dubai). So really, instead of boycotting the sponsors (money has no religion and corporates could care less) you’d be better off asking explanation from WTA and ATP formally through the new print / sympathetic TV channels etc. This years event is over, the best bet would be to put up a jewish star to play at the event, then go through the wole ordeal and make an issue out of it. Patience does have its virtues

What’s all the whining about Israelis being not allowed in UAE and all other Arab countries that don’t have diplomatic relationship with Israel? They are at war remember? Arabs from UAE can’t go to Israel either. Israeli Arabs (not just Jews) can’t go to UAE either. There is no restriction on a Jew who is not an Israeli citizen to enter UAE.
WRONG! ISRAELI ARABS ARE ROUTINELY ALLOWED INTO ARAB COUNTRIES ON ISRAELI PASSPORTS, SUCH AS HANY ABU-ASSAD, DIRECTOR OF “PARADISE NOW,” WHO HOLDS AN ISRAELI PASSPORT. Just look what you’re doing, Deb! Getting oriented in modern gadgets is not easy. Now you come in with your calls for ideological boycotts.
The end result is that supposedly technical info on electronics becomes ideologically warped, so the consumer does not know what is really going on. Why, on what grounds certain devices are promoted while others are played down – all this becomes a mystery.
You’re destroying the American markets!

Of course boycot. Of course oppose, loudly, idiocy such as the Ports deal. But it would REALLY help matters, had PM Olmert not already decided to surrender. Breaking bones at Amona, and “making nice” with the EU, while Kassam Rockets rain down upon your neighborhoods is NOT the way to encourage victory. Boycotting these morons, and then getting called anti-semitic for calling non-religious Jews on their own idiocy is also not helpfull.

Thanks Jaywilton for the correction. I am surprised I didn’t pick-up that mistake, my brother won the long jump in the first Jesse Owens track competition for kids and lettered at in track at USC. I was going off of a dark yellowed and lamenated copy of a Los Angeles newspaper I read on the wall at a pizza place in Encino over thirty years ago waiting for the restroom.
As for Cromwell, the distinction between Berlin and LA hasn’t removed him as a suspect. By the way, I have a copy of the 1922
“The Jew and American Citizenship” written by a Rabbi for a USC professor. And, a picture of Cromwell with Marlene Dietrich. I’ll look for “The Fastest Kid on the Block” and see if that Mormon in jail will autograph it for me, I hear he made quite a living doing Abe Lincoln’s signature.

There is no proof that non-Israeli Jews are not allowed in UAE. Are Arabs from UAE allowed in Jerusalem to pray? Of course not. You can whine all you want, but until there is a resolotion of Israel and Palestine conflict, there is no reason why all Arab states should allow Israelis to enter their countries. Arabs and Israelis are at war, right?

When I went to Israel they stamped a card for my passport so that I could remove it prior to proceeding to an Arab country. Has that changed?

Amir, you are incorrect. Arabs from all the surrounding countries regularly enter Israel for medical treatment. Some do indeed, come to to pray at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Israel even set up a program for educators from the surrounding Arab countries to enter the West Bank and Israel itself to test local Arab students for entry to institutions of higher learning in these countries. Becouse you see, the venomous hatred is one sided. From your side!

I am not incorrect. No Arab from UAE is allowed in Jerusalem to pray. If by Arabs by surrounding countries, you mean Egypt and Jordan, then Israelis too are allowed in Egypt and Jordan. Thousands of Israelis go for vacation to Toba, Egypt. Why would UAE nationals go to Israel for higher education and medical treatment? UAE has better universities and better hospitals than Israel.
Is venomous hatred just from one side? That must be Israeli side then. After all, they are the one occupying Palestinian land in violation of international land (including East Jerusalem — read UNSC resolutions), building illegal settlements (violation of 4th general convention). There is absolutely no reason why Israelis should be allowed to visit Arab countries that don’t have diplomatic ties with Israel until Palestinian issued is resolved. South African players during apartheid were not allowed to participate even Olympics.
WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. ARABS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD, WITH PASSPORTS FROM EVERY ONE OF THE ARABIC STATES, ARE ALLOWED INTO ISRAEL. ISRAEL HAS SOME OF THE BEST HOSPITALS AND MEDICAL PERSONNEL IN THE WORLD. AS FOR THE UAE, IF THEIR FACILITIES ARE SO GREAT, WHY DO SO MANY FROM THE EMIRATES COME TO THE U.S. TO GET MEDICAL CARE (SOMETHING THAT IS FREQUENTLY IN THE MEDIA)? IN FACT, LESS THAN 15% OF THOSE IN THE U.A.E. ARE FROM THERE . . . B/C THEY HAVE TO GET THE BRAINS FROM ELSEWHERE. FACTS ARE STUBBORN THINGS.
