Housekeeping: Technical Issues

Over the last two weeks, we’ve been having a lot of technical problems with this site. That’s one of the reasons I’ve been slowed in putting up entries, the past couple of weeks.
A lot of you have complained about blank comments pages, the inability to access archives and other buttons atop this site, as well as entries and archives being cut off in the middle at the bottom of the page. The links have not always been working, and a full week’s entries have not been properly loading. It’s all tied to the same set of problems.
We’re very sorry about the problems, and we are working hard to resolve these issues, which bother me probably even more than you, over the weekend, as we switch to a new blog formatter/publishing system and try to upgrade and change the site. We are also re-designing it and putting in new features as we fix it. In the meantime, you can search on google for my name and the entries you are looking for.

Please note that we’ve moved the “Printer Friendly” function to the bottom of each entry. As you will also note, we’ve dropped the Trackbacks. We turned them off over a year ago as they were not working correctly and were constantly being spammed. That doesn’t mean that a lot of sites don’t trackback and link to this site. They do. At the time I write this, this site is the 1,391st most linked to site on the Internet over the last six months, according to Technorati which measures the over 90 million blogs on the Net. If you write about this site and want the readers to see your post, please make a comment, including the link.
The site should be back to complete function and speed, some time next week. Thanks to the many readers who’ve pointed out problems. And thanks for your patience and continued readership.

When technology works it is beautiful thing. When it screws up and you are held on hold it becomes the scourge of the earth.
I understand about the glitches you have been dealing with (my shared sympathies–it drives me crazy too)–thanks for the upgrade plan. I hope the blog archives go back further than 6 months as looked for one of your older items from last year and I it didn’t go back past mid December.

I hope you are going with WordPress. It rocks. Typekey, not so much. Good luck with the upgrade. It should be fun. (that’s a joke of course)

And, it’s acting up right now. It would only scroll down part way through the next article. At first I thought it was his face that broke my computer.
