Farouk Shami: Muslim Texas Candidate Dons Anti-Israel Keffiyeh @ MLK Fest; Dad Led Pogroms Against Jews

By Debbie Schlussel

I’ve been at the forefront of exposing Farouk Shami–multi-millionaire haircare magnate who is running for Governor of Texas as a Democrat–for the extremist, terrorist-supporting Muslim that he is.  And for that, I’ve been attacked by the Texas mainstream media.  But, as I’ve noted, Shami not only won’t specifically condemn Hezbollah, HAMAS, and Islamic Jihad terrorist groups, but he was honored by the American Task Force on Palestine, a pan-terrorist group that claims that all of Israel is “Palestine.”  And I’ve noted that, through his foundation, he funds an extremist school in the so-called West Bank.  Shami, Yasser Arafat’s and the Saudi’s fave former hairstylist, is the owner of Farouk Systems, which produces and sells the BioSilk, CHI, and Sunglitz hair products (don’t buy them!).

faroukshamikeffiyeh

Since my work on Shami has been getting exposure all around the world–including and especially in Texas–Shami has resorted to claiming he’s not a Muslim.  That’s actually not true–he is, indeed,  a Muslim and his father, Mohammed (a “Quaker” name?),  is a sheikh, which you can’t be if you’re not a Muslim.  But, whatever he’s calling himself, this photo of Shami at a Monday Martin Luther King, Jr. Day rally, tells us all we need to know.  Shami is wearing a keffiyeh scarf that says, “Palestine:  Jerusalem is Ours.”  This is the scarf of hate, similar to the one Ricky Martin wore in 2005 and for which he apologized profusely.  Shami’s scarf shows a photo of Masjid Qubbat As-Sakhrah–the Dome of the Rock mosque–which is built on top of the holiest part of the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem.  (Given what Martin Luther King, Jr.’s staunch pro-Israel and philo-Semitic sentiments–read about it here and here–it’s doubly offensive.)

Even Neil Aquino of Texas Liberal, who took the photo with Shami, was alarmed.  And, in case you didn’t know, here’s some other info about Farouk Shami, which he doesn’t want you to know:

* Shami traveled as a hairdresser for members of the Saudi Royal family, and in order to make some extra money, he purchased merchandise from the stores and then re-sold them to the female members of the traveling party at a significant mark-up.

* Suha Arafat, the “wife”/beard of the late P.L.O. terrorist-in-chief Yasser Arafat, is from Shami’s home town, Beit Ur Al Tahta, and Farouk makes a point to visit her whenever he is in Paris.

* Shami’s father, Sheikh Mohammed Shami, had a very close association with Palestinian Liberation Army (part of the PLO), and before that, organized Arabs to brutally murder Jews for the entire decade before Israel became a state:

Shami was commissioned to organize the Palestinian paramilitary under the name of the Palestinian Scouts. . . . The Scouts were the main figures in the fight against the establishment of Israel in the land of Palestine. . . .

Mohammed Shami commanded all the Arab troops west of Jerusalem, who desperately fought the . . . Jewish forces. For his resistance work between 1936-48, Mohammed was recognized in 1995 by the Palestinian Authority as Dean of Palestinian Veterans.

Since I’ve been exposing Farouk Shami, he’s gotten at least two high-paid Jewish execs of his to write me ridiculous “court Jew” e-mails telling me what a saint this terrorist-lover and -enabler is. I told them where to go, and since they’re Jewish, 72 virgins won’t be greeting them.

But their religion was not relevant to me, and it was patronizing of them to think that it would be. Terrorism and support for Islamic terrorist groups isn’t a Jewish issue. It’s everybody’s issue.

There was a day, not too long ago, where a guy like Shami would be considered a kook, a fringe candidate. Sadly, we’ve passed that day as Muslims like him reach critical mass in America and make a ton of money off of our system.

All Americans need to work against Farouk Shami to make sure his chances of ever reaching public office are similar to a halal snowball’s chance in jehenim (Arabic for hell).

It’s not just a matter of, “Don’t Mess With Texas.” It’s, “Don’t Mess With America.”

Thanks again Debbie for this information. I have friends in Texas I will send this off too.
My question is: Why on earth and how did this man become an American citizen?
Texas is the Bible belt of the country, I can’t believe this Muslim is even allowed on the streets.

perception of truth on January 21, 2010 at 12:33 pm

Perception, the Democrats have no chance of winning in TX. That said its a sign of how low the Democratic Party has fallen in the state that it allows an outright Islamist to run in its party’s primary.

NormanF on January 21, 2010 at 12:43 pm

    NormanF:

As long as he’s on the ballot, he can get elected. I am reminded of the 1991 campaign for governor by David Duke. During the Louisiana primaries, George HW Bush was basking in his glory having “won” Operation Desert Storm. He sat on his hands and did nothing while Duke won the GOP primary for Governor. It wasn’t until a mere ONE WEEK prior to the general election that President Bush got off his duff and endorsed Duke’s Democratic Party adversary. The damage to the Republicans in the 1992 election is hard to calculate, but I’m sure it was substantial.

This stands as a firm warning to President O’Bama. It doesn’t matter whether Shami can get elected governor. If President O’Bama doesn’t actively campaign against Shani in the primaries and Shani gets the nomination, this will be very bad for the President. He better not be asleep at the wheel on this one. He better get off his duff NOW and campaign against this guy. That being said, it’s not like Democrats listen to little old me.

There is NO Santa Claus on January 21, 2010 at 12:54 pm

[TNSC – If President O’Bama doesn’t actively campaign against Shani in the primaries and Shani gets the nomination, this will be very bad for the President]

Huh? TNSC you are normally a lot smarter than that. Why would the Muslim Terrorist enabler in Chief campaign against this guy? Why would it be bad for him if if he does not campaign against Shani?

      I_AM_ME on January 21, 2010 at 10:57 pm

Regarding the David Duke matter, that was something that was really the responsibility of Louisiana Republicans, and not G.H.W. Bush. As for Farouk Shami, it is telling that the Texas Democratic Party did not push this character out by freezing up any donations. Does the Democratic Party really need another embarassment at this point? Is Fort Hood just a distant memory now?

      Worry01 on January 22, 2010 at 2:51 am

Is there any chance this guy will get the Democratic Party nomination? If he does, might it have the same effect on the Democratic Party as David Duke’s nomination had on the Repubican Party in 1991?

There is NO Santa Claus on January 21, 2010 at 12:46 pm

Wow. Thanks for this post. Thankfully, unless this sick clown is running in Travis County he will likely have an uphill battle on his bloodied hands.

OneScaredMomma on January 21, 2010 at 12:53 pm

I am from Texas and this is the first I have heard about this guy. I do not think we have to worry about him getting the Democratic Party nomination – Bill White ex houston mayor will most likely get the nom. On the Republican side we have Kay Bailey Hutchison trying to beat out Gov. Rick Perry for the nom. I hope and will pray that my fellow Texans make sure Shami has NO chance!

JANEEN on January 21, 2010 at 12:59 pm

I need to pass this along to some of my Texas friends as well. This is just chilling!

As for Ricky–Apparently he is not aware of what they do to gay folks in the Middle East. I often thought of starting a business to the stars called, “Don’t be an idiot! How not to offend the people who buy your stuff.” For a nominal fee, you could send me pictures of your clothing/accessories, and I would tell you if they were:

cirrus1701 on January 21, 2010 at 1:36 pm

(sorry)

1. OK
2. You’re a moron. Go change clothes.

Let’s see, I could work for Cameron Diaz, Ricky, Rachel Ray, the list could go on and on!

cirrus1701 on January 21, 2010 at 1:38 pm

I wonder if he has any connection to the many suspicious things that have happened in the Houston area over the last few years.

Martin on January 21, 2010 at 1:38 pm

Martin, I wouldn’t doubt it buddy. Theres no telling how many sleeper cells are around in our country waiting for the “word”. Lets get ready.

    Bruce – Texas.

BRUCE JOHNS on January 21, 2010 at 1:49 pm

We learned the hard way. Never ever think that someone can’t possibly win, even in the great state of Texas. Republicans have this funny way of thinking that “Oh there is no way that guy is gonna win, I don’t need to go out and vote mentality.”
If more Republicans got off their lazy ass’s and voted last year we wouldn’t have the usurper in office right now.

perception of truth on January 21, 2010 at 1:49 pm

Good point, Martin!

cirrus1701 on January 21, 2010 at 3:02 pm

Unbelievable…If this creep gains the governorship of Texas! wow is all I can say…Ezra Levant has similar “difficulties” with the court Jews of Calgary (they routinely suck up to raging Islamist Pakistani types, antisemites who spread blood libels and defame the Talmud…the OJs — the “official Jews” — then write complimentary letters praising said “Imam” for his “fight against antisemitism”, editorials are written about “bravery”, etc.)

J.S. on January 21, 2010 at 4:29 pm

c’mon ppl be realistic, he’s not going to get the nom
atleast david duke had a name someone might pick on a ballot if they didn’t know anything about him
but farouk shami? (FA-ROOK SHAM-E) there is no way.
not like it matters anyway, whoever gets the republican nom will win in tx

mike on January 21, 2010 at 6:13 pm

Hopefully you will not be alone in exposing him. If the Republicans are worth anything, they will also expose him, while giving you credit, and not plagiarizing. The same with the print and electronic media. While giving you credit, they should join in the exposure.

Little Al on January 21, 2010 at 7:07 pm

Santa… you’re right. As Debbie noted, Islamism is not just a Jewish problem. Its an American problem. Jews and other minorities have never sought to change America. Islam is different – it wants to transform America into a Muslim country. Living as a minority is not enough for them. Hence the danger.

NormanF on January 22, 2010 at 12:58 am

I do check my shampoo bottles now this a-hole decided to screw American workers and supports terrorists.

Debbie, do you know of any type of anti-keffiyeh that supports America or Israel? I would buy it in a heart beat. An Israeli or American keffiyeh. Cant stand celebrities and useless morons wearing it.

CaliforniaScreaming on January 22, 2010 at 2:44 am

Debbie-
Even the nutjob leftists in Austin won’t be voting for this walking hemmorrhoid in the primary. There’s a story on the radio stations this morning that this terrorist loving shyster paid off a dem primary competitor to drop out of the race. It’s just a coincidence that the dude got a check for $120k in his Agriculture Commissioner campaign fund from “Chamois” a couple of days after dropping out of the gov primary race. Nothing to see here folks.

oldblue on January 22, 2010 at 8:43 am

Farouk Shami campaign is self-funded, thus he does not have to rely on donations.

As we all know, any unsubstantiated propaganda, if left unchallenged and repeated often enough, can easily become common knowledge factual information. Most of the Americans get their information from the headlines and 10 sec negative news clips in the evening TV news, which creates a fertile ground for well-funded misinformation.

Farouk’s solution to border control – Grant every undocumented immigrant a US Citizenship who turns in a gang member. What a great idea – Really?

With this high of stakes, what are chances that we would turn the country into a neighborhood watch society similar to
• Gestapo in Nazi Germany
• Stasi in East Germany
• KGB in Soviet Union

Stasi – The Ministry for State Security (East Germany) was widely regarded as one of the most effective and repressive intelligence and secret police agencies in the world. When part-time informer adults were included, the figures reach approximately one spy per 6.5 citizens. What a Country!

In other words, a society where the citizens are watching their neighbors and reporting them to special government agencies in order to gain personal favors.

Longtime Texan on January 22, 2010 at 12:16 pm

The scarves were being handed out and King gave his to Shami, who put it on, said campaign spokesman Charlie Ray. “It’s not Farouk’s scarf,” Ray said.

Makes you wonder how these scarves just happened to be there – a coincidence? Particularly since Martin Luther King was a strong and vocal supporter of Israel and Jews, who stood with him for the civil rights.

Another issue similar to the $150,000 donation that Farouk Shami gave to Hank Gilbert’s campaign for agriculture commissioner? (Hank Gilbert changed from Governor to AG race.)

MLK: On March 25, 1968, less than two weeks before his tragic death, he spoke out with clarity and directness stating, “Peace for Israel means security, and we must stand with all our might to protect its right to exist, its territorial integrity….”

Longtime Texan on January 22, 2010 at 12:52 pm

debbie let me tell you something about this guy mr shami .he is the best candidat right now and he is going to win it all wether you like it or not .you are so hatefull that i think that you hate yourself.i think it is time for achange .all of your bad comments about mr shami are baseless.

tony on January 22, 2010 at 7:38 pm

Your such a STUPID idiot!! For your information everything that you said is wrong and your a BIG liar. This is why America is falling apart because America has people with the STUPID mentality like yours. Mr. Farouk Shami has always been a respectful and will ALWAYS be the most respectful man in this world and the Democratic Party. He has always been one of the most peaceful men and he has always asked for peace. Wherever there has been the oppurtunity for him to graciously donate he would always be the first to donate. For heaven sakes, how could you let this so called “terrorist” into America and move his entire business from China to Houston and hire 1500 texans to help the economy and there is a lot of people they moved their company outside the United States and STILL you call his a terrorist?? Get your fucking facts straights before you write an article about any one, especailly NOT Mr. farouk Shami!! And btw he also graciously donated one million dollars to Katrina victims when they were left alone for weeks. Your full of BULLSHIT!!! Who the hell are you to even dare to judge this great man like Farouk Shami. He is truly the best and may allah be with him. Go clean up your dirty past and clean out your dirty mouth too because you have nothing good to say. So why don’t you do all of us the favor and shut your big fucking mouth!!!
Thank you 🙂

Wha?? Muslims aren’t crazy about blacks, huh? Ever hear of Nigeria?

You morons. You know muslims hold Jesus Christ in ver high regard. I love how ignorant twats who know nothing about the religion can spread bullshit as “fact”. Before anyone says shit, I’m a conservative and I’m an OIF veteran.

The right guy on February 7, 2010 at 3:31 pm

Muslims don’t love Christian Jesus. They love the fact that they appropriated the Christian namesake and then insulted Christians by refuting who he is.

It’s like me saying I love Mohammed, the pedophilic, murderous thief, because it’s so easy to convince people he wasn’t a prophet.

jhimmi on February 9, 2010 at 8:08 am

Riad and Meme’s comments have totally proved to me that this guy is a Moslem hiding behind a globly gook explanation about his religious affiliation. With him at the helm of the largest bordering state with Mexico, I see nothing but a free ride for terrorists coming across the border and a future Sharia Texas State. Wake up people down there! Just because someone donates money and spreads their money around doesn’t necessarily make them a good guy.

Amazonbaby on February 8, 2010 at 5:10 am

This guy is spending a lot of money in El Paso,TX. He is advertising on all the media and is saying all the right words. He says he will be creating jobs and improving the schools, that is what most people want to hear. There is no indication of him being a Muslim. In fact, he has changed the pronunciation of his last nameso that it sounds more american.

fs on February 17, 2010 at 4:45 pm

Funny responses. Many of you sound like the same people that think Iran is a terrorist state. Islam does not equate to terrorism. Isalamic Republic does not equate to terrorism. Muslim absolutely does not equate to terrorism. That would be like saying all Catholics are terrorists because a Catholic Right to Life group blows up an abortion clinic.

So what if Shami is Muslim? Bush is an evangelical Christian. JFK was Roman Catholic. Isn’t it funny that so many Americans criticize Muslims for their religious beliefs and ways of life and fault them when they do the same to us.

I’m Catholic. I live in Texas. I was raised in Pennsylvania and Maryland. I’m voting for Shami. Heck, if his campaign would have ever gotten back to me, I would have been volunteering as part of it.

Stop believing our government propaganda and the media’s sensationalist coverage of world events and try thinking for yourselves for the first time in your lives. Stop believing what everyone tells you. and just figure it out for yourself. Of course, if you’re Texan, that’s like tallkin’ ’bout puttin’ up yer gun. Yehaw! (See how I was being ironical?)

Many of you need to just grow up already and start thinking for yourselves.

Greg on February 18, 2010 at 10:00 pm

Hello, I am a Mexican American person, who lived through jr. high in Mexico, and moved to the U.S. since high school. I have never been involved in politics in the U.S., but have been a little in Mexico. I am sick and tired of every corrupt politician, who only seeks $$$ and benefits to purchase land and other stuff. I’m also sick of media people who for money publish, positive or negative stuff for corrupt or not corrupted politicians. In this world there is very few politicians who don’t seek $$$, or power, and I think Farouk is one of them. I personally feel much better when I can help someone, than when I get money for doing something, and I think that same thing happens to Farouk. My only advice is, there are not many people like him around, don’t waste this opportunity. May God bless you all.

Rey on February 19, 2010 at 1:45 pm

The only thing I have to say is DO NOT think this guy can’t win. He’s spreading the money around bigtime.

DON’T sit at home election day thinking he can’t win. As you can tell from some of these comments there are idiots in Texas that WILL vote form this man is he get’s on th ballot.

GO and VOTE!

jack on February 25, 2010 at 1:01 am

It was not that long ago that Shami was crying racism. Bill White his opponent in the Democrat primary made a big deal about being born in Texas. Later Shami claimed he did like to hire white people to work in his factories claiming that would not have good work ethic.

You can find his campaign signs displayed very prominently at mosques and Middle Eastern restaurants.

ram930 on February 28, 2010 at 3:03 pm

Look at these muslim politicians popping up all over the place. Even if they do not blatantly come out and say that they are extreme muslims, you already know that they will always side with muslim countries and muslim values and hate Israel. People need to look at a persons background instead of taking them at their word. If you want a prime example look at Barack Hussein Obama. HELLO!!! Muslim name, grew up muslim, went to muslim schools. People didn’t care, all they saw is that he was black and wanted to be part of electing the first black president without looking at his background. And then you wonder why he goes around the world apologizing to all these muslim countries for America. Lets take America back from these crazies… get out and vote. Conservatism must be brought back to the greatest country in the world!

Josh on March 2, 2010 at 11:14 am

Honestly y’all just seem to be jealous that the keffiya is being worn by not only Palestinians, but celebrity’s as well! I mean i doubt there will ever be a fashion craze in which people wear that Kippah hat thing, but just shot up and stop whining about everything! that’s pretty much the only reason you guys got the permission to take the land that is the Palestinians, and y’all will keep whining until you get your way for everything! one day y’all will find out that it GETS OLD! and the effects wear off!

Arkaan on March 9, 2010 at 8:11 pm

Reading some of these anti-islamic comments on here only serves to remind me of how ignorant and rascist people can be. Bieng a non-practicing muslim, I love America, am totally against terrorism and those idiots that promote it.

A lot of the comments I read on here mainly critisize Shami because he is a muslim. Ask yourself, how did someone like him become so rich and powerful in the first place? In an islamophobic climate, especialy in a country like USA, a muslim like Shami will have to have connections and support from very powerful people in order to get to that level, were he can run for such positions in an election, under the banner of democrat. Use your common sence people, the real guys that run this country are businessmen and dont really give a fuck about you (sorry to put it bluntly) or your rascist veiws. So some of the anti islamic veiws from some ignorant Americans only proves the point that they too can be full of hate, just like those terrorist arseholes.

You are an idiot. Get your head out of your ass and start paying attention. Not all Muslims are terrorists. A terrorist is a person who terrorizes or frightens others. A terrorist is NOT a muslim. That is not the definition. I just wish you would stop getting your information from FOX because while reading this article the only thing you sounded like was a DUMB ASS.
Farouk’s dad is a sheikh NOT Farouk, just because his dad is a muslim doesn’t mean he is. There are lots of people who are not the same religion as their family. Whether he is or isn’t a muslim shouldn’t make a difference. Islam is the fastest growing religion. And that is NOT because it is a religion that condones terrorism. Get over yourself because there will be a lot more muslims running for political positions because America is all about being a melting pot and it is open to ALL religions and races.

You stupid dhimmis, there are alot of people from all races who are muslims, last I checked islam is a religion (some posters call it a political cult, false religion, etc. that’s their opinion and their entitled to it) NOT a race you dumbasses! You dhimmis are enabling the destruction of this great republic, NOT Debbie, is only giving out the whole facts and the threat of islam to our borders and shores, it’s a national security issue you friggin dhimmi posters. Wake the hell up, and to the poster who said that Iran is not a terrorist state, I got news for you buddy, Iran is NOT our ally and their leader is a threat to the world, he claimed that he wants Israel to eradicated and also wanted the USA eradicated as well! At this point Obama should destroy Iran’s nuclear launching pads (notice I didn’t say start a war with Iran, we don’t need anything like that). As I’ve said, you dhimmi and muslim apologist better WAKE THE F**K UP! (Newsflash to the idiot who categorized Islam as a “minority” world religion). Anyway, stop your hate and embrace diversity. You’re only doing more harm to yourself, and adding more grays to your dry, flakey hair by spewing this rubbish. Lucky for you, however, I’m sure Farouk’s “Biosilk” product can do wonders for you.

Just as I thought. You are just another emotional troll whose feelings are hurt by the truth that Debbie wrote.

JeffE on February 3, 2012 at 12:26 am

Debbie, as a fellow Republican, you are seriously viciously attacking a man just because of his race and viciously attacking him just because of where he comes from. I may not agree with him on behalf of issues concerning immigration reform, but attacking an individual just because of his race is vile, just like how David Duke attacks people of certain racial groups. People like you are the reason why America and Americans are dis-united. You put your Jewish heritage over your American heritage. Shame on your soul, seriously.

in the last intifada(uprising) 4,000 arabs have been killed by israelis and only 1,000 israelis have been killed by arabs. that is from btselem.org, the jewish israeli human rights group. each killing is documented and by clicking on it you can see how it happenned. one killing, it says arab waspissing in a feild and was shot and killed by an israeli. this is evident of the type of killings that happen. research sabra and chatilla massacres and baruch goldstein’smassacre of forty arabs while they prayed at a mosque and you will see the truth.
israeli leaders have said arabs are like monkeys in a tree and are barely human.
israelis are even racist against themselves. the ashkenazi killed 70,000 sephardic jews (ashkenazi are light skinned german jews and spehardic are dark skinned jews) they killed them by irradiating them with radiation machines because they deemed the treatment necessary for a scalp infection some of them had which heals itself at puberty, and requires no treatment in reality.
I have had good experiences with some jews and I have found some to be extremely unprovokedly violent and threatening. so there are probably some good jews but any assertion arabs are the agressors in nonsense, it wasnt the arabs who moved to europe and displaced jews frmo their homes creating jewish refugees. see the issue of the “palestinian refugees”. of course the arabs tried to not be displaced frmo their homes when israel was being established, that is common sense.
