Justice Alito’s “Not True”: Best Video Moment in Yawnworthy Obama SOTU Speech

By Debbie Schlussel

Likely THE most boring State of the Union Address is over.  And the only exciting moment in Barack Hussein Obama’s long, yawnworthy consisted of words mouthed by someone other than the Dullard-in-Chief.  Check out Justice Samuel Alito’s mouth (on the left side of the video), when BHusseinO attacks the recent Supreme Court ruling that prohibitions against corporate contributions to political campaigns are an unconstitutional violation of First Amendment speech rights.

President Obama’s formal addresses tend to be overly long and padded. His latest stem winder was a rehash old campaign speeches, petulant defiance, mockery, and blaming his predecessor. Mr. Obama’s remarks on nuclear power and oil exploration were more than negated by his pledge to pursue cap and trade legislation and new energy taxes(which taxes on oil companies would be). Solar and Wind power are incredibly expensive and notoriously unreliable sources of energy when compared to fossil fuels. Until vastly improved storage cells are developed, what energy these sources might produce could only be viewed as a supplement or backup to what is produced by more conventional power techniques. As for nuclear energy being actively pursued, I would not hold my breath while there is a Democratic congress.

I didn’t bother paying attention to most of the State of the Union. But I did catch that part live, but didn’t notice Justice Sam Alito’s response until just now, thank to you, Debbie. Great catch! I predict that Justice Alito will be attacked for this like Joseph Wilson was for his “you lie” outburst.

JeffE on January 27, 2010 at 11:18 pm

This statement is SOOO true!!!! Predatory lenders, profit-driven healthcare CEOs, and those business leaders who would see our country and our families go bankrupt before they would pay their own way are committed to funding a fierce battle for the status quo. however, they leave out that the whole world is turning greedy. i feel that is why are are where we are. everyone wants top dollar for their (excuse my french) half-ass days work!! Come on! Our own president was like that (mr vacation 7 out of the 8 yrs in term bush)! Nothing ever makes us happy! We want what we want now! That’s why people are slowly turning away from Obama. He didn’t fix everything in the first month or two of being president. Our change starts with us. No one is going to fix our world while we just criticize their work while we sit on our (french) asses! You want the government to fork out money when it is going in your pockets but yet you don’t want to pay taxes. You want good healthy food while driving through the drive thru paying $1. It is a give/take world. you have to give to take! I just can’t believe how so many people can be so shallow, pig headed, and blinded by their own greed to think of the nation as a whole(not of just those with a bottom-less pit of money). Yes we are a christian country; however, we are also a FREE country where the government is to be divided by the church!! Did God not give us free will? Why can’t the government? Seriously!!

*Thou shall not judge* therefore, thou shall not force how you feel people should live your life upon others! through the government or not. Yes, I do not feel that we should take God out of where God has already been either. When did we get to become this either God is all over or God is no where? Why can’t we let people do what they want? When did everyone get a chip on their shoulder about him? No one is forcing you to listen to the kid next to you pray! Yet no one should force you to do so either. Mind your business.

candice on January 27, 2010 at 11:28 pm

Nowhere did Jesus mean that we are not to judge SITUATIONS and EVENTS. What He obviously (or so He thought) meant was that we are to NEVER judge a person’s MOTIVATION for what they do!

We are obviously to judge whether situations or results, or events are GOOD or BAD.

I love when people rip things out of biblical context, then put their own spin on it. Absurd.

I think its funny they made something legal that the Obumbo used illegally to win his presidency. Everyone is just now equal to raise the same amount of money but doing it legally. Obumbo must have been sleeping during his constitutional law courses at Harvard where it states foreign nationals can’t donate to our presidental campaigns.
Still waiting on your campaign audit monkey boy.

Exactly what I was thinking… still no audit of that $500 MILLION DOLLAR+ campaign and its MYRIAD foreign/corporate sponsors.

Doda McCheesle on January 28, 2010 at 9:25 am

Alito said “that’s not true” to the line from Obama which was “this decision overturned a century of laws”. “A century of laws” would be laws that were established in 1910 regarding campaign finance… the recent decision overturned McCain-Feingold, which was 2002, or 8 years ago, not ‘a century ago’. Thus, what Obama said was ‘not true’, and showed his usual utter lack of historical knowledge.

This is what you get when you elect a secret member of the Muslim Brotherhood to be President of the USA. Why else do you think all his records are sealed. He isn’t a Neolib, or a NeoFibber, he’s a NeoMuslimBrother. Hidden from the news a few days ago is his removal of the ban of the chief of the MB. I think it’s time to state all out he is America’s Public Enemy Number 1. And repeat it often. If we don’t do that, Osama Bin Laden is going to end up US Secy of State. And I mean it. It’s time to get real now.

“The Barack Obama administration has decided to lift a ban preventing Muslim Scholar Professor Tariq Ramadan from entering the United States. Ramadan, an Egyptian currently living in Switzerland, is a leading member of Europe’s Muslim Brotherhood branch and the grandson of the movement’s founder Hassan al-Banna. The Muslim Brotherhood is the parent organization for Hamas and some of the groups that recently merged into al-Qaeda, including Ayman al Zawahiri’s Egyptian Islamic Jihad..”

With politicos (practiced and smooth politicians) like Obama, who are always being praised as remaining cool, calm and stoic (unflappable, and unemotional) what causes me to become curious is when (suddenly) Obama gets excited. It makes me suspicious. (I wonder, sooo, just why is Obama so anxious about “foreign campaign contributions?” why is Obama so exercised about this? does he have something to hide? has he, himself, benefited from “foreign campaign contributions” and fears others (his political rivals) could also benefit? and he wants to put the cabash on that one (stop others from engaging in the very conduct he himself has engaged in, yet all the while appearing to be “fighting against them dang foreigners”)? These “hot points” are also typically signs of weakness…or where he can be prodded/poked..)

J.S. on January 28, 2010 at 12:45 am

@ candice: ah yes, “Thou shall not judge”, the most out-of-context, misquoted words of Jesus. Actually, he says (King James) in Matthew 7:1: “Judge not, that ye be not judged.”

Richard on January 28, 2010 at 12:49 am

I can’t bear to watch his speeches. I waste enough time arguing with libtards. Obama showed his ass by trying to publicly embarrass the court. I’m glad they sat unmoved. He’s a dangerous POTUS. Absolutely the worse ever. Just appointing Eric Holder alone, is evidence of the danger he poses to the country as well as the world.

Joe on January 28, 2010 at 1:00 am

Every time Obonzo opens his big flapping mouth, he’s giving another speech.
I’ve never seen him speak like a normal person.

Obonzo has the same arrogant smirk.

“You Lie!” is the first thing that came to mind. (F.U.-2’nd) Even Alito’s liberal neighbour Sotomayor (that is her, right?) didn’t seem too pleased. Almost everyone got up and appluded, minus the judges, which made it look like a political rally full of Yes Men instead of a speech to the nation. I could see the Judges mentally giving everyone there the middle finger, just look at their faces.

Let’s be honest here: CFR has nothing to do with clean government – its a risible cover for government censorship of speech of which the Left does not approve. And free associations of citizens, profit or non profit, deserve as much protection as individuals. Without them, we don’t have a civil society worth preserving. Alito, I think was dignified and restrained in the face of a narcissistic demagogue in love with himself who dismisses any one who disagrees with him. If the GOP should regain of Congress in the fall, the American people will have made it clear they want no part of his agenda. That’s the kind of hope n change America can look forward to later this year.

NormanF on January 28, 2010 at 5:13 am

Well, 1984 and Newspeak are indeed here. Save money, decrease the debt, but, by all means, continue the bailouts (actually continue from Clinton, Bush and Obama), and “loan” (give) money to “businesses” (very broadly defined) to create “jobs” (also very broadly defined. The substance of this speech is a defense and intensification of socialism, and economic ruin for this country and those who are not part of the elite. I don’t know who will lead the fight against all of this. I really don’t have too much confidence in John Boehner and Mitch McConnell. Mitt Romney? duh— Sarah Palin now explicitly (rather than implicitly as before) supports illegal immigration. As you said, we really need to pay attention to those Republicans who are running against the entrenched Republican elite: DeVore, J.D. Hayworth, etc.

Little Al on January 28, 2010 at 5:46 am

““loan” (give) money to “businesses” (very broadly defined) to create “jobs” (also very broadly defined.”

Yeah, and the proof of the pudding is that I can’t find a cent of grant money/govt. assistance (loans) to help me move forward with plans to build an AirCar factory here in the USA, which would provide jobs & tax money, as well as vehicles which run on compressed air…

Pinandpuller on January 28, 2010 at 7:07 am

This shows that the SCOTUS has too big a role in government, anyway. Their decisions should be advisory only, the founders never intended them to have veto power over the legislature. The right way to void a bad federal law is to let state nullification operate, which is what the Constitution intended in an indirect way. This snarking between the Chief Executive and a SCOTUS Justice is undignified.

I don’t get it. Why should anyone other than individuals have constitutional rights? Assuming spending money on advocacy is the same as speech (I don’t know enough to have an opinion on that) I have no problem with an individual having a constitutional right to spend as much of their own money as they want without restriction on any kind of advocacy including political campaigns without restriction.

However, how is it that corporations, labor unions, or any other groups have constitutional rights? I don’t get it. It may or may not be bad policy to restrict how groups spend money (again I don’t have a position on this), but I believe it should not be unconstitutional.

I_AM_ME on January 28, 2010 at 9:26 am

Wow…Obama lives in some dreamworld where he actually thinks he has saved us all from everything bad. Listening to his speech, you would think it was all because of him that we avoided a great depression and now single moms and small business owners can keep their jobs. Again, it was all George Bush’s fault of course. After all, Obama stepped into the mess. Poor Obama, it is tough being a superhero. Let’s not forget that he is going to save the entire WORLD through clean energy. Once the U.S. leads in clean energy the world will follow. Then we will all live in a world of lollipops and sunshine where just talking to Muslims makes them change their minds and love all of us infidels. The man is clearly delusional…or liberal…same difference.

Angela04 on January 28, 2010 at 9:50 am

Just venting here…. I volunteer at a senior independent living center in Southfield. 95% of the residents are Jewish. It has been the greatest experience of my life and so very rewarding to work with these people. I was working last night during the speech. The residents had set up shop in the large TV area to watch the president, they absolutely adore him. They hang on every word and believe him to be the greatest thing ever. I know my place and was raised correctly, therefore; I never interject my own personal beliefs or counter their arguments as it is not my duty. My confusion is that their families see most of them on a very regular basis and unfortunately share their ideology.

I am a christian woman but was raised on the importance of Israel and her people, what they have gone through in the past and in some cases still go through today based on the ignorance of many. Our children were raised with the same knowledge, I continue to learn today due to your blog and articles you have written in the past.

I have a very good friend who became a US citizen last year, raised in Israel, and still today has many family members there. She voted for Obama despite my best effort. She does not see. Her family does not see and they live there. It is hard for me to sit through situations such as last night and not feel a deep sense of sadness. I have tried to direct my good friend to your blog and to my knowledge she has not yet taken the time to visit.

Perhaps you have written before on why so many Jewish people cling to the liberal agenda, if so, I may have missed it. I do know for sure that I do not understand it. What can I say to my friend to at least get her to listen to me? What can I direct her to read?.

thanks for letting me use this space to express myself.

Sharon, I know you’ve heard of the term WHITE GUILT. It seems to afflict those who’ve never been affected by either affirmative action, on the job harassments by an unqualified person or anyone whose never sent kids to school in the inner city. I know a guy that outran about 15 drunk blacks in detroit he’s a serious athlete, that screamed “Get that Reginald Denny mother f—-er!” He’s still afflicted with WHITE GUILT. It’s a psychological disorder that obviously has had some horrible affects. Like ignoring the qualifications, associations, and background of this POTUS. People are waking from their stupor though.

Sharon,

I feel the same frustration that you do. I always thought that it stems from the lie that FDR saved the Jews from Hitler when he did far less than he could have.

At one time the Republicans were more anti Semitic than the Democrats but now the Leftists of all stripes are far more anti Semitic than any other group.

As I watched last night, I kinda kept track of two things, meaning I probably missed more.

1) He blamed Bush about 10 times for the current situation we are in instead of taking responsibility.

2) Blatent lies = 5 times. These were lies that a fifth grader could have picked out from the speach.

Just remember – somewhere in Kenya a village is missing its marxist, community organizing, muslim loving, terrorist appeasing idiot.

Thanks sharon, yours is also good. But be careful what you wish for. The people who would take over for Obama aren’t any less frightening. Biden the bobble-headed idiot or Jack-in-the-Box Pelosi wouldn’t make things any better.

Jarhead on January 28, 2010 at 11:53 am

Regarding the Supreme Court decision…corporations will never spend as much as the Congressional Special Interest Group does, buying votes with earmarks behind closed door sessions (earmarks, which, of course, were supposed to be done away with). Same ole, same ole. We need less government not more. And why won’t any elected official forcefully propose Tort Reform as the first measure in healthcare reform? (Sorry, off topic.)

Scott on January 28, 2010 at 11:36 am

The only thing more shocking than Obama’s incompetence is the Republicans’.

This country is ripe for a new Reagan Revolution but yet….crickets from the right.

Can you imagine how a Gingrich Contract with America 2010 would go over right now?

Obama and the pinko libs are doing what I expect, no big deal. It’s the lack of one single, solitary Reaganesque voice that disturbs me more than anything Obama/Pelosi does.

I don’t need a Repub to tell me Obama is a disaster. I need the right wing to tell me how they are going to get business back to booming with lowering taxes and cutting government spending.

Jeff_W on January 28, 2010 at 12:50 pm

Maybe if the media AND Obama was paying any attention at all to the Republicans, we might have some idea of what they WANT to do.

To date, I hear nothing or very little, which gives the false impression that Republicans have no solutions. That’s garbage. Obama only wants Republicans to rubber stamp his dreams. He has no interest in listening to them or their ideas and his sham TV event where he stood in a room full of Republicans, pretending he was interested with his congenial niceties, (“Is that your crew? Hi!”) plays well in the media, but those of us who can think for ourselves are not taken in by it.

The current POTUS should be impeached, convicted, and removed from office soon. That’ll be best for the USA.

Bob Uda on July 25, 2010 at 5:29 pm

Why hasn’t this jerk been impeached. All he does is take numerous extremely expensive vacations with his family or play golf. He has no business living in his rent-free White House. Anyone who holds the office of President of this Country that we love must have common sense (a brain) love for his country (a heart) and remembering that he is here to serve and protect the AMERICAN people of this country (leadership). He was not born here. Therefore, he has no right to hold this office. He should be impeached immediately before he causes more harm. The American people of this country have been stomped on enough by him. Obama, quit stomping on the American people, and put your foot back where it was. IN YOUR MOUTH. You look more natural that way.

Janice Rackley on August 23, 2010 at 5:54 pm

In his latest set of promises, Obama not only continues to promise to spend money that our government does not have (50 BILLION), but continues to place blame on minority Republicans for opposing his policies in attempting to “help” America’s economy.

He does NOT mention WHERE he will get the 50 BILLION (check your 401k!), nor does he note that in SPITE of Republican opposition to his policies (and the fact that they are a MINORITY in Congress), he got what he wanted.

Exactly HOW does passing a health care bill which will require TRILLIONS of taxpayer dollars to implement HELP the economy?

Exactly HOW doe suing Arizona with taxpayer money HELP the economy?

Exactly HOW does promising to spend 50 BILLION dollars worth of taxpayer funding to create jobs HELP the economy?

All of Obama’s “solutions” for helping the economy are really designed to put spending into overdrive, and cause our economy to CRASH.

November cannot come soon enough and neither can the next presidential election.

If Obama had any respect at all, he would resign, though I’m not sure if Biden would be WORSE…
