Ro’i Klein, Z”L: Heroic Israeli Soldier Gave His Life to Save Others in Hezbollah’s Bint Jbeil

We saw this incredible story of Israeli heroism on the Hebrew video news part of Arutz Sheva/Israel National News and are summarizing the story, here, in English.
Ro’i (pronounced “Row-ee”) Klein is one of the many heroic Israeli soldiers who, unfortunately, are giving their lives to save the people of Israel from Hezbollah terrorists. Klein, a Major and Deputy Commander of the 51st Unit of the elite Golani Brigade, committed the ultimate act of heroism.
Sadly, Klein gave his life on Wednesday in Bint Jbeil, Lebanon–the Hezbollah stronghold near the country’s southern border. He jumped on a grenade to spare his fellow soldiers’ lives.

Ro’i Klein and Amichai Merchavyah, Z”L

Klein was with several Israeli soldiers from his unit, trying to rescue their fellow soldier, Amichai Merchavyah. Merchavyah was seized by Hezbollah terrorists when his unit was in Bint Jbeil. Ro’i Klein and his fellow soldiers chased after the terrorists trying to rescue him. They soon found themselves cornered in a dead-end alley by Hezbollah terrorists who threw a grenade at them.
Ro’i Klein jumped on the grenade, using his body to spare the lives of his fellow soldiers. Also sadly, Amichai Merchavyah was not recovered. He, too, was murdered by Hezbollah terrorists.
What is significant–aside from their heroism in the face of Islamic terrorists–is that both Klein and Merchavyah are religious Jews from the Israeli settlement village of Eli, in the so-called “West Bank.” They gave their lives for so many Israelis who want them to give up their and their families homes to Palestinian terrorists and their supporters. Many of the Israeli soldiers fighting terrorists in Lebanon are the vilified settlers, whose homes are in dangers–even though they are on land owned by the Jewish tribe of Binyamin (Benjamin) for thousands of years.
Major Klein’s widow, Sarah, and their two young sons must now fight alone to keep her home, while her husband paid the ultimate price in the War on Terror. She is fighting a lawsuit by far-leftist Israeli group, Peace Now–the Israeli version of the and –which is trying to give her and her late husband’s home and land to Palestinians who never lived there. More details about that on the English version of Arutz Sheva/Israel National News.
Of Ro’i Klein’s tremendous heroism in trying to save his fellow soldiers, his Rabbi, HaRav Eliezer Kastiel said, “It was heroism not seen in our day.”
Yes, it was the ultimate act of heroism. Ro’i Klein and Amichai Merchavyah, Victims of Hezbollah Terrorism, Zichronam LiVrachah (Blessed Be Their Memories).

His wife Sarah lost her husband. She shouldn’t have to lose her home simply because she’s a Jew. God demands respect for the widow and the orphan. “Beware if you mistreat them and they cry out to and I will hear them and My anger will blaze forth against you…” and in view of the parable of Naboth’s vineyard – “shall the murderer inherit?” In a sane the world the answer to that question shouldn’t have to be asked. A hero’s family as well as the hero’s memory deserves to be repaid accordingly.

You are an anti-semite and a coward.
The fact that you support Hezbollah illustrates that you have no moral basis but are a coward that supports murderers and thugs.
I sincerely hope that you join Hezbollah in Lebanon in their fight so you can meet your 72 virgins along with the other terrorists.
Maybe we could take up a collection on this forum for a one way ticket to Lebanon.

Every one seems sick and tired of the Jews this morning. The world is raging at Israel for the inadvertant civilian deaths in Qana. Oh that pack of hypocrites lecturing Israel about how to fight a war. Israel regrets the death of every person; her enemies revel in the death of the innocent.
O Hashem, I am surrounded by so many foes!
All of the nations about attack me
And of me they haughtily declare:
“Your G-d will not deliver for you.”
Yet my strength and my shield is G-d
He is my glory and I walk tall and proud.
When I cry unto Him,
In His holy mountain He gives me His answer
I am sustained by G-d
when I am asleep and when I awaken again.
All my enemies are arrayed against me
On all sides but I do not fear them.
Rise, O G-d!
My G-d, deliver me!
For You deliver the blows to my enemies
The teeth of evil doers You smash
For Yours alone is our deliverance
And let Hashem’s blessings be upon Israel.
Let us all pray for Israel and the Jewish people in the days ahead and plead with G-d to speedily deliver them from the peril in which the find themselves.

ok now get this straight i dont care about jews or hezbollah i care about peace . and right now i am sick and tired of the fighting . it is not their land, move! or get along. if fighting brings peace then i say bomb both of them to ruins.” just a thought … imagine no religion… imagine no jews or muslims too….. imagine all the people living as one.” isreal is just a pain in the ass i wonder if there was no isreal if there would be peace in the region…..heh no the muslims would just find another reason to fight………..dont hate me, hate the violence

jyd on July 31, 2006 at 1:13 am

jyd is talking about “peace in the region”…
I obviously do have to remind that ‘dar al-Islam’ is the ‘region of peace’ (because Islam
already rules in that region) and ‘dar al-Harb’ is ‘region of war’ (because Islam is not yet in power and there will be war until it is).

These boys are young! They wouldn’t last a week on 83rd Street and Hoover or Florence and Normandy. They need to go out and have fun get laid, but noo, they defended Israel. Peace and shalom
