Peggy Noonan: Delusional Obama Gusher, Rev. Wright Apologist & Phony Conservative

By Debbie Schlussel
I’ve never liked Wall Street Journal columnist and former Reagan Democrat/Republican speechwriter, Peggy Noonan. I find her to be phony, full of air, and, frankly, she says a whole lot of nothin’. An Empress with No Clothing, whose hype you just can’t believe.
Noonan’s incessant gushing over people for whom she wants to become the next speechwriter is beyond gauche. I remember once how she was on a Detroit radio station and the interviewer could not get her to start the interview, because she was so busy gushing over morbidly obese, tax-raising, then-Republican Governor John Engler. You got the impression that even she didn’t believe the fertilizer coming out of her mouth. Redhead Peggy Noonan reminds me of another redheaded phony–the redhead heckler of Jerry Seinfeld on “Seinfeld” episodes–the gushing woman who gets the publishing job Elaine wanted, out of sympathy because she lost her pinky toe.

Peggy Noonan: Obama Gusher Lies About Rev. Wright/Obama’s Church

And Peggy Noonan’s gushing is not only phony, it’s not correct. I remember how she gushed over Al Gore’s choice of an Orthodox Jew for his Veep nominee. As a religious Jew, I was embarrassed by her incessant gushing about this alleged huge civil rights achievement. It was a lot of BS. Then, there was her column after 9/11, claiming that now, once and for all, machismo was back and feminist man-hating was out. Guys, do you feel–6.5 years later–that Peggy Noonan was right, just because some fireman and police officers got our respect on 9/11? Is your wife/girlfriend/daughter treating you better? Didn’t think so.
Now, Peggy Noonan–ever the phony she’s always been–is apparently yearning to become an Obama speechwriter. On Saturday, she wrote in the Wall Street Journal praising Obama’s Throw Granny Under the Bus speech, incessantly. And yesterday, she excused Obama and his church by telling Tim Russert, on “Meet the Press” that, if you watch the video, Obama’s church elders sitting behind Wright looked bored and didn’t praise him when he delivered his sermons and that the church attendees sitting in the audience also looked bored and in disagreement with Rev. Wright’s sermons.
Um, is there anyone who agrees with this delusional assessment? If you do, please watch these brief ABC News and FOX News videos, below, and tell me if the church elders or members look bored and in disagreement with Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s hate . . . or do they look like they are jumping up and down in agreement with him? I don’t wear contacts, so maybe it is I–not completely lying and delusional Peggy Noonan, the uber-gusher–who is wrong. Do their enthusiastic cheers sounds like “boredom” or “disagreement” to you?
Please do tell . . .

Peggy Noonan will be whatever she thinks the person who will help her most wants her to be (kinda like Barack Hussein Obama). That’s why she’s now falling all over herself about Barack Obama and Rev. Wright’s parishioners, lying about how they cheered Wright on. That’s why several years ago, she gushed all over Oprah on her show and all over working moms in O Magazine.
But Oprah-dom didn’t work out for her, just like roly-poly ex-Michigan Gov. John Engler didn’t.
So, now she’s on the Obama Obandwagon. But don’t listen to a single thing she says. It simply ain’t credible . . . if you believe what you see (versus what she claims you should see).

You have to love this guy! If it weren’t for him B.O. would’ve had a straight cake walk right to the White House. Bet the guilty white libs in the democratic party are second guessing their guilt a lil’ bit right about now. There’s no doubt as to the feelings this guy and his congregation have regardless of the spin Noonan tries to put on it. LET’S HAVE A GREAT BIG HAND FOR RACIST BLACK PREACHERS AND THE GUYS THAT REPLACE THEM!

Debbie–
Great points!
Noonan lives in pundit-land, a strange place where one can say things that sound good, but are completely unrealistic.
If she were honest, she would have noted that the speech covered no new ground, but would be lapped up by his supporters, adding that the “throw grandma under the bus” stuff was quite shocking–especially since the woman is still alive.
Her gushing obit of William F Buckley, replete with a sycophantic ode to Jackie O was nauseating. If Buckley “created” the modern conservative movement, then he also did his best to destroy it…
Robert Taft must be spinning in his grave.

I remember now that Noonan sympathized strongly for CBS news anchorman Dan Rather after he was axed, however, wasn’t Dan for decades a fixture of the establishment liberal media that scorned everything non-liberal? Even if one is a naive tool of the MSM establishment, there’s got to be a point where one is beyond the pale, especially considering how Dan Rather became a multi-millionaire peddling liberalism and Bush derangement syndrome.

Hey Obama didn’t even go to church last Easter Sunday. In Memory of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, all the trinty church did was talk about the media’s coverage of this Church.
You know….Obama ran to the virgin islands to escape the press. He ran. I bet he’s hoping this will blow over. He’s waiting for things to “Change”. Lol Lol Lol!

It’s about time someone blew the lid off that elitist eastern Liberal, masquerading as a Conservative!

Noonan is a talented (if you like schmatlz) writer who really, really loves the sound of her voice.

Unfortunately Noonan is not alone. There are other ‘conservative’ commentators who have nice things to say about Obama. While I won’t mention names, I read a couple of posts today from nationally-known columnists who say that Wright’s statements are despicable “but”. The but is always that Obama’s personal experience is uplifting, he has potential to overcome racial differences, blah, blah, blah. These people present themselves as conservatives. it is beginning to look like the issue w/Obama is like illegal immigration; it is becoming a cutting edge to separate the real conservatives from the fakes. Just like the fake conservatives were for ‘border control’ (nothing about Visas) “but” there needed to be a path to citizenship, now they are saying Obama’s preacher is wrong “but”, he needs to exercise his redeeming qualities. Sad.

I couldn’t believe it when that idiot talked about how bored the people looked. Sure, there were a few that looked bored. There were a whole lot more that were hootin’ and hollerin’. I wonder what she was thinking as Russert read from Charles Krauthammer’s brilliant article that took aim at Obama with a howitzer and blew him to pieces? I was so happy after hearing that, it was almost enough to make forget about Noonan’s bloviating nothings.

Peggy Noonan’s reputation rests on one great article and one good book, both of which I enjoyed. Since then she’s had nothing much to say.

the kind of church someone attends (especially for 20 years!) speaks volumes about the attendee.
the doctrine coming out of wright’s “church” is pure VOMIT!
jews should take note that not all professing christians believe the same: there is not a single antisemitic statement in the New Covenant and those so called christians who espouse anti semitism are evil and unregenerate.
hussein obama must like what he hears at wright’s so called church.

I agree with you over Peggy Noonan. Ocassionally she has a decent well thought out article but she is a George H.W. Bush type of Republican, basically a Democrat with centrist leanings! She also comes across overly pious on TV with a faux type of affected virtue because she speaks softly and whistfully. She also gave us the stupid phrase “a thousand points of light” as a speech writer for GHW Bush. Since she is a friend of GHW bush I suspect she is an anti Semite (I know that sounds cruel but I cannot help it). I think of her as a better looking version of Karen Hughes.

“I know that sounds cruel”
It doesn’t sound cruel, it sounds silly. What, every friend of Bush is by definition an anti-Semite? Please.
[K: NOT ALL OF ‘EM. JUST QUITE A FEW: JAMES A. “F-CK THE JEWS” BAKER, BRENT SCOWCROFT, CONDI CLUELESS, PRINCE BANDAR, THEN-CROWN PRINCE ABDULLAH, ETC., ETC., ETC., ETC. I DON’T THINK NOONAN IS ONE, JUST A BIG PHONY. DS]

kishke on March 24, 2008 at 11:19 pm

Agreed on Baker and the Arabs, obviously. Scowcroft I don’t know much about. Don’t agree on Condi.

Debbie…… ah HA! Thank you so much for saying what I have been thinking for years. This self aggrandizing droning bore drives me crazy, but my husband is completely fooled by her.So much for his Ph.D!
I can hardly wait to show him your post………

Debbie,
I completely agree. Noonan’s editorials are pointless, totally ancetodal pontifications. I normally quit reading them after a paragraph.

JasonBourne81 on March 25, 2008 at 2:12 pm

She’s a babe, alright. I don’t read her work, listen to her, pay any attention to her. I have heard of her, though.
If what you say is true, then she is a brown-noser. Something that looks like a political (self-censored word that one uses to describe a person in the world’s oldest profession).

It’s interesting that Peggy Noonan opposed Ford’s pardon of Nixon. How can one be considered a conservative, or even a Republican, if they wanted to see Nixon jailed? I’m afraid Noonan is not the real deal, as she likes to posit.
Good article!
