My Solution: Make Illegal Aliens Eligible for America’s Mayorships

By Debbie Schlussel
I would like to change the national landscape by giving illegal aliens special amnesty to do “the work Americans just won’t do”–serving as mayors for America’s cities.
With Mayors from across the U.S.–via a resolution passed at the U.S. Conference of Mayors meeting in Miami–coming out against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids of workplaces and arrests of illegal aliens, I think it’s obvious why they don’t understand what it’s like to lose your job or have your wages lowered due to illegal alien labor. The reason is that illegal aliens–thus far–are ineligible to vote and thus hold office. Mayors need not worry about their jobs being taken by illegals. They don’t need to worry about their benefits and public services being stolen by them, as most U.S. mayors have cushy benefits packages, courtesy of local taxpayers.

Illegal Aliens: Make Them Eligible to Run for Mayor

And we need to change that. We also need to change it for Members of Congress and the U.S. Senate and maybe even El Presidente. I propose special visas for the purpose of candidacy for public office in any position of policymaking in America.
Of course, I’m just kidding. But the fact is, these Mayors–and most full-time elected officials–are not doing their jobs when they oppose immigration enforcement measures. They’re not concerned about their LEGAL citizens. They’re not concerned about the loss of jobs, lower wages, and overtaxed public services, because they don’t feel the pinch.
I do agree with one statement coming out of the Mayors conference. Miami Mayor Manny Diaz says of ICE that mayors

hope to send a message to Washington that this [ICE workplace raids] is a smokescreen and it should stop taking these Band-Aid approaches.

Sadly, the he and the others mayors mostly support amnesty as their catch-all approach. The real solution is tough, mass deportation and prosecution of employers. And our nation doesn’t have the guts to do it.

These mayors are freakin’ traitors. America has every right to regulate who comes into the country in order to best protect its citizens. America should deport these mayors!

For Homeland Security, to occasionally make a bust for photo ops, is damn insulting. Catching a few hundred here and there while over 35+mil illegals are allowed to roam free just doesn’t cut it. In a few years, when ALL of these illegals line up for their social security checks, and medicare, then and only then will Americans realize of how many chickens have been (hiding out) roosting here.

Not only do they support amnesty; the blithely give taxpayer money to the illegals for one idiot program after another. Property taxes all around the country are shooting up because for some reason we pay for illegal aliens to attend out schools instead of barring them from government services except for the service of being put in jail or deported.

I guess I am too naive to expect politicians and government officials to have to abide by the laws like the rest of us have to obey.
One would think that the DOJ would go after these lawless thugs and criminals like any other outlaw.
As long as we the people allow them to get away with breaking the law with impunity, nothing is going to change.

Hi Debbie,
I agree with you. I think that evan if you are an illegal immigrant you should have voting rights. Evan though they aren’t citizens they are working in this country and producing revenues and paying taxes on food and petrol. So, it stands to reason that they ought to have a say in the government.

I’ve said it many times here, in the Deseret News (Rockefeller Republican rag), and I think once in the Salt Lake Tribune (liberal/PC dive) that we’re headed for a civil war.
Historically speaking, the political/social conditions are good for it, but the economic climate is lacking for the portend (thankfully). Yes; fuel and food are high, but the economy is putting up a great fight for now. However, that depends on DC now.
Norman’s right; the Mayors that support amnesty should face deportation or some form of detention for the duration of the war. If they love the enemy so much, then let the enemy have ’em!
I also agree fully with ScottyDog and c f on their points, as would anybody with a lick of sense (Audacious – pay attention!) These government folks use the IRS and the law to rob us blind; rob the good, law abiding employers in this country, for the sole purpose of buying votes with pork spending and welfare. Then when we, the people get mad at them for breaking ethical and legal standards – THEY TRY TO REPLACE US!
And here’s a funny part: they’re human beings – just… like… us! They will have to stand before the judges and the holy Jehovah to explain themselves just like us! Here’s an LDS phrase that most local folks throw out to explain their own failures, but has great purpose here: “G-d is no repsecter of persons.” He didn’t preordain these folks to be our leaders for the purpose of being royalty in His kingdom. He gave them their positions and wealth as the best trial for them to test their worthiness for exaltation. What is money and influence before the holy Lord! It’s worthless – that’s what. He created it, he gives it freely through His own love and mercy for us, and he can just as easily take it away!
These politicians do not govern by laws approved by the citizens of their respected cities, counties, states, and national elections and petitions. I’ve seen these folks in action first-hand – they are scared to death to loose power. They live by this fear daily, everything they do and every word they speak is calculated, researched, and market-tested for effectiveness in elections. To them, it’s a business to stay in power. We are not a priority unless they need block votes, money, and a cheering audience -that’s all we’re good for to them.
Yes; politicians do work with business owners very closely. Yes; that corruption does go deep with some of the major employers in the form of tit-for-tat. And yes; this does hurt entreprenuers and small businesses. The cheap labor thing is just a small part of the corruption.
They will fail and we should be prepared so as to not share the sting of their downfall. I’m backing off these so-called leaders (thieves), and let them collaspe. I can care for my family well enough without them. I don’t need them (the most frightening phrase to say before a politician). And if they think they can rule my sovereign home without my approval, then… well…

It is interesting that those who are most in favor of illegals have least to fear about job loss to one.
In fact, the more I think of it, the more I think you’re onto something, Deb. Why should these tax parasites have THEIR jobs protected by law?
