Is Bill O’Reilly Sabotaging John McCain?

By Debbie Schlussel
Is Bill “Who’s Looking Out For Falafel/Loofa?” O’Reilly letting his incredibly-sized ego sabotage John McCain’s night?
Reader/Blogger Barry Popik thinks so and reading his points, I agree.
Tonight is supposed to be John McCain’s only real domain, after a week that was dominated by Sarah & Bristol Palin hype.
But after months of refusing to appear on O’Reilly’s show, Barack Obama pulled a smart move, agreeing to an interview, but insisting it would air tonight–which means that O’Reilly will have to move his usual cadre of Playboy and Penthouse centerfolds, porn stars, and stippers to another wholesome night.
As Barry Popik notes:

BHO and O’Reilly agree to an interview tonight at 8 p.m.? How dare BHO suggest it! How dare O’Reilly agree to it!

Who’s Looking Out for You? Neither of These Dudes

Here’s what BHO doesn’t want you to see–and ratings whore O’Reilly agrees:
8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Speaker: U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.)
Video: “Vice Presidential Nominee Governor Sarah Palin”
Speaker: Former Gov. Tom Ridge (Penn.)
Video: “America’s Place in the World”
Speaker: Mrs. Cindy McCain
9 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Video: “Senator John McCain”
Speaker: Presidential Nominee John McCain

I agree. O’Reilly is really a jerk for doing this to McCain. He’s helping Obama.
And I don’t put anything past him. Remember when he appeared on Oprah to plug his book and called new-age radical Oprah–of all people–a “traditionalist”? The guy will say or do anything if it helps him. A total phony.
And don’t forget that when Jews were being kicked out of their homes in Gaza, O’Reilly stated on his poorly-rated nationally-syndicated Westwood One radio show that the only reason Jews lived in Gaza is “because they want cheap land.” And he particularly singled out American Jews. Yup, Jews are cheap and motivated by lucre–thanks for the tip, Bill. But, no, you’re not an anti-Semite. Nu-uh.
For the record, Jews who lived in Gaza mostly lived there–not for the “cheap land”–but out of principle because it was part of Israel, and they didn’t want to give Israeli land to a Palestinian terrorist state. Most of those Jews paid a tremendous price in security expenses and, in many cases, blood–their family members killed by Islamic Palestinian terrorists. They risked their lives to live there, which is anything but “cheap.”
Who’s looking out for you? If you’re John McCain or anyone else, not Bill O’Reilly. He’s looking out for the guy in his mirror. No-one else.
So tired of this guy’s fraudulent act.
By the way, I can already predict the whole interview. It’ll go like this:
Bill O’Reilly Chorus: I mean . . . C’mon! I mean . . . C’mon! I mean . . . C’mon!

Agreed. However, it will give the re-energized something to Youtube tomorrow, when Obama lies and O’Really doesn’t dispute him. What I have found from watching O’Really, is that he ‘touches’ on a question, and when the interviewee attempts to answer it, he will commandeer the conversation and bring the topic round back to himself. He simply can’t help himself. He’s worse than Clinton this way.

And then there was his pathetic trip to the Mideast a couple of years ago where he supported the terrorists. And the terrorists are helping to finance Fox News. I guess this is another way he is looking out for himself.

c f on September 4, 2008 at 7:56 pm

Agreed, Debbie. He’s an ass and I have never liked him. Can’t stand his flaming, over-sized ego. He is an arrogant, pompous windbag and just looking at him makes me ill. It sickens me that he is considered “a voice” of conservatives. I am convinced he wears ladies panties under his suit trousers. Anyone that arrogant is surely hiding a serious deviation in their masculinity.
Plus, I really frickin’ can’t stand a Jew-hater!!
Debbie: Off-topic, but have you seen the Israeli film “Ushpizin”? If you have not, ohhhhhh please, please rent it!! I beg you. I rented and watched it last night and I couldn’t wait to get on here to my favorite J-blogger and mention it to you. It’s the most beautiful and extraordinary, lovely and wonderful film I have seen in a long time. If you haven’t seen it, you gotta.
Plus, I really loved listening to Hebrew for two straight hours!! Is it wrong that I think they sound so cute??

O’Reilly’s no spin-zone act lost its paper thin veneer after he was nailed in the extortion case 4 year ago–guilty of sleazy conduct in making lewd calls to a Fox news producer who got millions to go away. Here we had the “factor” writing his books like “Culture Warrior” like he is America’s knight in shining armor–when he is really a sexually frustrated old buffoon. He paid out millions to the ex-co-worker at Fox to shut her up. Uhuh. Yup, that’s the kind integrity we need to lead us in the culture war.
What are O’reilly’s ratings like these days? I try to avoid his show because I can’t stand the hypocrisy. He is always bragging that he has great ratings–O’Reilly only gets me to see him for a flash as I surf past his show. He makes me gag.
I found it repulsive when he is interviewing on Letterman and Lary King etc to peddle his books. It is a phony act. His working with the Obama to get a scoop at the expense of respectful protocols is revealing of the true loser O’reilly is. I bet he’d do most any stunt for ratings. This Barak interview is exhiit A.

JMHO, from my own observations, Fox News, and arrogant Bill O’Reilly have moved from center/right, to center/left. Fox’s ratings are still up, but they’ve lost a host of viewers. I don’t watch them much anymore, and get my info, and news from the Internet!

Jackson Pearson on September 4, 2008 at 8:44 pm

No doubt about it. He wanted this interview so bad he truly sold his soul for it.

samurai on September 4, 2008 at 9:07 pm

He must be very desperate these days. Going on O’Reilly was something Hillary did as a last-ditch attempt to save her drowning campaign. And, it didn’t work. Shortly after her appearance she suspended the campaign.
This appearance signals that the Democratic ticket is in real trouble, and scrambling to try anything, at this point.

Maxine Weiss on September 4, 2008 at 9:43 pm

The only thing that O’Reilly has going for him is that he is hated by Keith Olbermann (a Nancy boy even more obnoxious then Bill O), also I like Dennis Miller’s and Bernie Goldberg’s segments. Check out O’Reilly’s ignorance from his April 4, 2002 interview with Daniel Pipes (the setting – Israel after months of a suicide terror offensive against her finally takes action), O’Reilly
actually questions whether Israel wants peace!
Btw only two more months before O’Reilly’s annual “War Against Christmas” spiel.

Actually Hillary’s appearance on O’Reilly’s show was a smart thing for her to do.AS much as I dislike the blowhard O’Reilly he has a tremendously large audience and it is the height of stupidity for the Dems to turn their back on Fox News programs. Also going on FOx shows the Independents and Reagan Democrats that you are not always taking orders from The Daily Kos, Keith Olbermann and The Huffington Post.

There’s no difference between Obama’s interview and McCain’s speech as far as constitutionalists are concerned.

ramjordan on September 4, 2008 at 10:19 pm

Hi All. Fake Sarah Palin here. I have a few things i need to get off my chest.
First, thanks for all your support, I kicked ass reading that teleprompter last night, I know. It was awesome.
Secondly – a note to commenter “c f” – really, no more. Stop commenting here and everywhere.
My staff did a quick cursory review of your last 5 posts on this blog – they include ones at these times:
September 4, 2008 07:56 PM
September 4, 2008 04:41 PM
September 4, 2008 06:31 AM
September 3, 2008 11:46 PM
September 3, 2008 04:38 PM
11:46 at night? 6:31 in the morning? SO, you’re the last one to post a comment and then you wake up first thing in the morning, and the first thing you do is post a comment. Honey, you’re a LOSER. SERIOUSLY. It doesnt matter the words you post – you’re a loser. You need a life. Do you have a job? If so, why are you on blogs all day. It’s weird, seriously. You need a new life.
Ok, for instance, look at me. I’m practically the PRESIDENT of the US. and a few years ago I was Mayor of east bum Alaska. A town that had a population of 6,000 (or something like that – it could even have been more, who knows?) – IN ALASKA. It barely counts as a state, but HERE I AM.
And look at you.
You’re a blog commenter.
You look foolish, even hiding behind your two little letters there.
And listen, you’re probably a nice lady, we just don’t want you here. And by “we” and I mean me and my moose hunting skills. We need you to turn off the computer, to get out of the house, and stop being such a loser.
Questions? Direct them directly to me and my moose gun. Deal with it.

sp, if you don’t like my comments, say something substantive about them, not this whiny garbage.

c f on September 4, 2008 at 11:45 pm

And now a post at 11:45.
c f, this is more than a little sad. And this should be very, very substantive – to you.
Turn the computer off. Go for a walk. Put on pants. Go outside.
You seem to be a little to attached to commenting on this blog.
Live a life.
We’re all pulling for you.
And by “we” i mean me and my moose gun. Deal.
PS – The Mac Daddy killed tonight. I’m riding snowmobiles in the White House, count on it. And c f will still be commenting on this blog.

Sarah Palin on September 4, 2008 at 11:53 pm

looks like sp is another liberal flak; if invective from the other hacks doesn’t work, pseudo-personal attacks are worth trying, right? You probably don’t know what ‘substantive’ means. I repeat, if you have any intelligence at all, comment substantively about something I said. Liberals are known for their personal attacks when they are unable to say anything worthwhile.

c f on September 5, 2008 at 12:01 am

O’Reilly’s got huge ratings, like number 1 in the cable shows. I can only take him or Hannity in small doses. They get pretty boring, I don’t see how anybody can watch them for more than five minutes.

John Harper on September 5, 2008 at 12:33 am

When the Jews were evicting themselves from Gaza, I cut a story out of the WSJ and wrote the date and wrote on the story, “there won’t be any peace”, or something like that, just to remind myself I predicted it on the first day of the evictions. If I could figure that out, how could anybody believe that giving up Gaza was going to promote “peace”? Am I smart or is everybody else just stoopid?

John Harper on September 5, 2008 at 12:37 am

You forgot to mention when O’Reilly said on his TV show if the Jews don’t like the Christmas celebrations in the US they can move back to Israel.
I think that BO is a hypocrite for letting Obama force him into having the interview today

Yidwithlid on September 5, 2008 at 12:39 am

O’Reilly has been kissing obama’s ass for months now trying to get him on his lousy show. Face it, O’Reilly is a piece of shit.

joesixpack31 on September 5, 2008 at 2:23 am

Who cares about John McCain anymore???
Everyone knows it’s hockey MILF Sarah Palin that’s actually gonna get everyone to the polls, and JMC is just an afterthought now…an EXPENDABLE afterthought. [Listening to his “stand up and fight” plea, and he sounds like a friggin’ WHIMP].
The GOP can now October surprise by putting a bullet in his head so Palin get’s the LBJ-esque landslide…..

EminemsRevenge on September 5, 2008 at 5:43 am

Well, what are you going to do? Watch Olbermann? Although, I’m sure Debbie does hoping she’ll be the Worst Person in the World, which is quite the badge of honor.

Blayne on September 5, 2008 at 7:50 am

What a coincidence !!!
BO & BO ??
Bill O’Reilly & Barack Obama ??
I had heard that O’Reilly had to provide Obama the questions prior to the interview.
Probably the only way Bill could get ‘The One’ to come on.

Shootist on September 5, 2008 at 9:59 am

Yidwithlid . . .your comment ” . . .BO is a hypocrite for letting Obama. . .” identified a previously overlooked peculiarity.
Barack Obama – B.O.
Bill O’Reilly – B.O.
Explains the stink quite well.
Another way to look at this insult is to recognize it’s unlikely liberals tuned in to view McCain’s acceptance of the nomination – on any channel especially on Fox News which is considered poison to them. Fox recognized this and pulled out the Obama kool-aid trough which liberals cannot resist. Sans teleprompter, Obama has displayed a craving for his own shoe leather. These displays of foot in mouth syndrome will be useful before the election.

heroyalwhyness on September 5, 2008 at 11:25 am

Here is an email I sent to O’Reilly concerning this subject:
Mr Bill O’Reilly,
I have lost all respect for you as a person due to the timing of your Obama interview. Your acceptance of Obama’s ruse to disrupt the RNC with his agreeing to ‘chat’ with you has caused me to question your integrity as a person. So obsessed with pleasing your ego by ‘chatting’ with the unrependant community organizer you have whored yourself to the Obama campaign. All that no-spin talk you heap on the MSM about being in the tank for Obama is absolved with your moral failing in the face of being manipulated by Obama. You are no better than the Olberman’s and Matthews’ you scold on a nightly basis. My objection to this ‘chat’ with Obama is not based on doing the interview but your timing of when to air it. You would have been better served to conduct the interview and air it after the RNC not during. You have lost me as a fan and viewer.
Boycott O’Reilly!
How can you adequately explain and face up to the folks who have purchased and read your books? Explain your groveling before the majesty of Obama to those kids that write you and tell you how much your Kids Are Americans Too book has been an inspiration to them. You have now gulped from the cup of Kool-Aid.

Per Mr. Harper,
I predicted trouble when Menachem Begin withdrew from the Sinai back then. I was right. Yamit set the stage for Amona and the Gaza. I could turn out no different than what Mr. Harper thought back then.
The Kahane people tried to make a stand a Yamit with a fortified bunker, but the Israeli government drilled through it. If Kahane was still alive and back in the knesset (where he was criminally expelled), none of this garbage today would be happening.

O’reily is for O’reily. Obama is for Obama. The two egos shall meet. “The spin stops here”, More like “The intelligence stops here”
So pathetic a punk like Olbermann can hand his ass to him on a nightly basis and he cant to find his stones to fight back. His response is rating. How about getting back your respect and dignity. Oh I guess it wouldn’t be good for ratings. Act like the bitch you are, O’reilly and put on a skirt and pumps.
Now he is man-flirting with Obama. Bring on a body language expert.

What’s going on here? Did Keith O. post a link to this comment section on his web site?? Debbie, I’m not sure why you call O’Reilly a smut peddler. I have watched O’Reilly pretty much every night for 7 years, and I don’t see it that way.
