HUH? Obama Pays $5 Milln Plus to Imams Who Praise Killing US Soldiers in Afghanistan

By Debbie Schlussel

How do you fight extremists on behalf of America?  You fund them to spread the extremism and forget about the America part.  At least that’s the Obama way.  And it continues.  Yes, it’s the new year on the calendar, but the behavior is same ol’, same ol’ with Barack Hussein Obama and his crew of dhimmis.  Millions of your tax dollars are being spent in Pakistan to try to “unteach” extremism and turn people against jihad (by funding people who actually teach jihad – YAY!).

Huh??? Obama’s “Moderate” Imams Get $5 Million Plus to Say Jihad Against US Soldiers in Afghanistan Justified

What these dummies clearly don’t understand is that to do that, you need them to leave Islam, which preaches all these things–the extremism and jihad which are part and parcel of Islam–and at its heart–and cannot be separated out from it.  And while the authorities at the State Department wasting your money on these silly DVDs know this, they won’t dare admit that because that would admit that the problem is Islam, stupid.

Oh, and I almost forgot the BEST part! The money is going to “moderate” Muslim clerics to teach their people that jihad against American soldiers in Afghanistan is A-OK! This is brilliant. Obama’s U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan said so.

Sultan Mehmood Gujar was a solid supporter of Islamist militants fighting in Pakistan, Afghanistan and India and even donated money to them, until he attended an innovative 40-day lecture series by a moderate cleric aimed at countering violent extremism.

The course, given to the public at an Islamic school in a hotbed of militancy in Pakistan, had a profound effect on the 46-year-old property dealer, convincing him the militants were wrong to claim they were waging holy war, or jihad, justified by the Quran, the religion’s holy book.

“I was shocked to discover that what the militants were doing was against Islam,” said Gujar, sitting on the floor at the madrasa in Okara city where the lectures were delivered. “Now I call them terrorists, not jihadis.”

PUH-LEEZE. Does anyone believe that this jihadist didn’t know what his religious leaders and their muhajideen were doing? And, suddenly, a lightbulb went on because of a magical lecture series paid for by the United States? If that’s how it happened, he’s either an incredible dummy and naif, or a complete anomaly. These people who support this crap know exactly who they are supporting and that it’s their religious duty. Anyone who says otherwise is lying to them about Islam. Oh, and this “moderate cleric”–I wonder if he’ll openly condemn Hezbollah and HAMAS and the Taliban. Don’t bet on it. Thus, he’s only “moderate” insofar as the “moderate” Muslims are the ones who cheer on the Muslims who actually perpetrate the terrorism. But read on, because he’s not exactly being taught that jihad isn’t okay. In fact, courtesy of U.S. tax dollars, he’s being taught that jihad against American soldiers in Afghanistan is a great thing!

Fazal ur Rehman, the cleric who runs the 400-student madrasa, recorded each of the 2-hour lectures he and others gave this past summer and would like to distribute the DVDs to reach a wider audience. But he lacks the money.

The U.S. has created a new unit in Pakistan that aims to leverage such grassroots efforts by working with local moderates to counter violent extremism — the first of its kind set up by an American embassy anywhere in the world, according to U.S. officials here. The existence of the unit has never before been reported.

Yup, your tax dollars are probably going to fund yet more HAMAS/Hezbollah-supporting cretins, who will change very little of anything. Again, the problem with Islam is . . . Islam. It’s not that someone is misunderstanding the “real” Islam. It’s that they DO understand and follow the real Islam.

Rehman and other clerics attempting to challenge extremism in Pakistan recently met with U.S. Ambassador Cameron Munter in Islamabad, though the 50-year-old Rehman says he has not yet received support from the Americans.

Oh, don’t you worry. They’ll get it very, very soon. Anything to support this BS that Islam was hijacked by terrorists rather than the reality, which is that terrorists were hijacked by Islam.

The U.S. chose Pakistan as the site for its new venture because it is home to a vast network of Islamist militants who have been fighting U.S.-led troops in neighboring Afghanistan for over a decade and have even organized attacks on American soil.

The three-person unit in the U.S. Embassy public affairs section was established in July. It plans to work with local partners, including moderate religious leaders, to project their counter-extremist messages and push back against the militants’ extensive propaganda machine, said U.S. officials.

It will use TV shows, documentaries, radio programs and posters. It also intends to ramp up exchange programs for religious leaders and public outreach to conservative Muslims who previously had little contact with American officials.

Oh, please. We’ve tried this a gazillion times before, always with abject failure. We’ve done Paki Sesame Street. We’ve done Al-Hurra and Radio Sawa. We’ve done the giving out candy and building roads BS. Has any of that stopped a single jihadist from blowing up U.S. troops or setting fire to Mumbai hotels and killing Jews at the Chabad House? This won’t work, either. Again, the problem is not “extremist” Islam or this BS concept of “Islamists.” The prob is Islam, stupid.

“There are a lot of courageous voices speaking out against extremism here in Pakistan,” said Tom Miller, head of public affairs at the U.S. Embassy. “Our job is to find out how we can amplify those narratives.”

Hilarious. The “courageous” voices are the ones who say, “Ahmed, don’t let your son, Omar, set the bomb off. He has such a bright future. He should get an education and become a doctor so he can fund Faisal down the street and his whole contingent and send them all to 72 revirginized in paradise.”

The unit is just now ramping up operations, said officials. It was funded with an initial budget of $5 million that officials hope will grow. Officials declined to provide details on specific programs they are funding or plan to fund, for fear that publicly acknowledging U.S. involvement would discredit their partners.

Um, it’ll be a lot more than $5 million. How much you wanna bet that a good chunk of that will end up financing terrorists and their clerics?

Also, the militants are likely to strike back, as indicated by a recent trip the U.S. ambassador made to a madrasa in Faisalabad city to attend a meeting of moderate religious leaders who denounced suicide bombings and other forms of violence.

Militants responded the next day by calling the Muslim cleric who hosted the event, Yasin Zafar, and warning he could be killed. The call was from a member of Jamaat-ud-Dawa, widely believed to be a front group for Lashkar-e-Taiba, an anti-India militant organization, said Zafar.

“I was taunted for becoming a U.S. supporter,” said Zafar. “I was told that I should be cautious because I may have provoked the Taliban.”

Are we providing 24-hour security and bodyguards for these people as their whole towns come after them like the jihadist mobs that they are? If not, then fuhgedaboudit.  Oh, and he’s not so much of a “U.S. supporter, ” as you’ll see below.  Unless, the SS were U.S.-supporters, too.

The ambassador’s visit to the 900-student Jaamia Salafia was unusual because the madrasa teaches a puritanical strain of Islam followed by some Pakistani militant organizations, including Lashkar-e-Taiba, although Zafar said he does not support the group.

Ah, so his school teaches the most extreme strains of Islam in common with LeT, and yet he’s our “moderate” Muslim. Yup, just as I said. Not so moderate at all. No surprise because, um, Jaamia Salafia (which means “comprehensive puritanical Islam”), the very name of the school, says it’s a salafist, extremist place. Hellooooo…? That might have been a slight hint, but not to brain-cell-challenged Obamaniks. And just terrif that our U.S. Ambassador pays an official visit to honor this extremist Western-hating dogma. Hey, maybe he should visit a Klan meeting (or Ron Paul campaign headquarters, same thing) so that we can honor “moderate” Klansman David Duke, too.

The meeting’s participants railed against American drone strikes, which are very unpopular in Pakistan, said Zafar.

Wow, sounds like this “moderate Muslim” pro-America stuff is a HUUUUGE success! And here’s the MONEY QUOTE:

Islamic clerics who have met with the U.S. ambassador recently expressed hope they could steer Pakistanis away from militancy by explaining when holy war is justified. . . .

Zafar, the cleric who hosted the ambassador, said the insurgencies inside Pakistan and in the Indian-ruled part of Kashmir were unjustified. But he backs the Taliban’s fight against U.S.-led forces in Afghanistan, a common sentiment inside Pakistan.

“Afghanistan was invaded, and the Taliban are waging jihad to protect their homeland, their freedom and their rights, so I recognize that as jihad,” said Zafar.

(Emphasis added.)  Frickin’ hilarious. We’re funding this guy who says it’s okay for the Taliban to blow up U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan while they are building roads for these ingrates’ fellow co-religionists there. Oh, and by the way, ya know when else holy war is justified? Whenever and wherever we find those evil Jews! Yes, this is where you taxes are going.

Happy New Year, suckers!

I do not expect any better from the Marxist President Obama.

Confederate South on January 2, 2012 at 4:12 pm

If Obama were to just flush our money down the toilet, it would be better spent than this.

JeffE on January 2, 2012 at 4:20 pm

Its not like the money is going to Sufis, Ahmadis and Christians.

That would be politically incorrect.

Call it therapy in making jihadists feel better about themselves, courtesy of the US taxpayers.

What we aren’t doing is helping to build pluralism and tolerance in Pakistan.

We’d have to admit Islam is the problem, not those it victimizes and persecutes, whom we ignore in Pakistan.

Don’t look for that to happen any time soon.

NormanF on January 2, 2012 at 5:08 pm

NormanF (and everyone else): I’m going to provide a link which underscores what Infidel, above, asserts about Sufi Muslims – he’s absolutely right, and one of the most pre-eminent medieval sufis, al-Ghazali, whose writings remain influential after hundreds of years, was an unabashed advocate of jihad. His views on jihad can be found rather easily via Google, etc. Infidel is also absolutely correct about Amahdi Muslims.

commonsense on January 3, 2012 at 7:24 pm

Now, now Debbie. A bit cynical, aren’t we? I mean, look at the INCREDIBLE results we’ve gotten by sending Ground Zero Mosque I-MOM Feisal Abdul Rauf jetting around the world at U.S. taxpayers’ expense to garner financial support for the Cordova-Initiative “VICTORY” Mosque. Surely that has to be counted as a successful for the Imam-In-Chief currently occupying the White Mosque when you take into consideration major funding is coming in from HAMA and Hezbollah. I truly wish people would WAKE UP to the BS being proffered by this Muslim-led administration and see how YOUR taxes are being used to perpetuate the agenda of CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood. I guess nothing ceases to amaze me anymore.

Robert Dean on January 2, 2012 at 5:28 pm

This Administration is funding and backing Muslim Brotherhood and Salafist Islamist movements throughout the Muslim World.

If they’re backing moderate and secular Muslims, there’s no sign of it.

Giving money to clerics who support jihad against US troops, US interests and against the Jews and Israel is what is called “outreach” these days. Like they’ll hate Americans and Jews less if we are generous towards them. Yeah, sure.

Our government shouldn’t be involved in this business. We’re extending to our enemies the rope to hang us with.

Over a decade after 9/11 America remains desperate but not serious in the War On Islam.

NormanF on January 2, 2012 at 5:36 pm

“Moderates”, as in Saudi Arabia, the nation with the flag of the sword of Islam and the words “There is no god but God; Muhammad is the Messenger of God” which clearly means non-Muslims are discriminated against by the sword?

Fred Taub on January 2, 2012 at 5:39 pm

Not moderates. They hate us, Jews and Israel and the only thing moderate about the Saudis is they don’t push for revolutionary Islamism around the Middle East.

But if a more radical regime took over there, like in North Africa, we’d stand to lose access to much of the oil there.

Given the Obama Administration treatment of our allies, the Saudis have not only gone it alone, they helped neighboring Bahrain’s Sunni monarchy put down an Iranian-inspired Shiite Islamist revolt.

The Obamaniks approach to the Muslim World seems to be to get rid of relatively friendly pro-American regimes and replace them with ones that want to spread Islam by force everywhere.

It certainly ha worked out well thus far.

Only $5 million? I wonder how many “Have You Hugged Your Imam Today” buttons we could print up for that and distribute right here in the USA?

DS_ROCKS! on January 2, 2012 at 6:37 pm

Now, now, fellows, you should know that the elites who run the U.S. and the U.K. (to name just two)are self-hating types who also thoroughly hate their countries for some reason.

The destruction caused by these people (the enablers) in England is beyond belief. If they manage to catch proven terrorists, they are released after a few months. And today’s Daily Mail has an article about a Bangadashi terrorist who amazing is still locked up. He’s about to sue because he isn’t allowed to use a Skyp phone, just the usual house phones. What?????

Nir Leiu on January 2, 2012 at 6:39 pm

Islamic terrorists haven’t become cultural icons yet like the mass murdering Cuban Communist thug Che Guevara.

Just give it time.

NormanF on January 2, 2012 at 8:03 pm

Why am I not all that surprised by this? Why would anyone be?
Maybe Obama is having some guilt issues over giving the order to switch off Bin Laden as he was drooling over his kiddie porn.
So he deals with it by passing out American taxpayer money, because in his view America is the real oppressor of freedom in the world and Americans must pay for their transgressions.
And of course this plays along with Ron Pauls’ view of how American foreign policy should be conducted.

Dustbag [Genesis 2:7] on January 2, 2012 at 8:38 pm

Sorry Debbie but the problem is not Obama. The problem is
us. The cretin currently residing in the White House
still has a reasonable chance to be re-elected.

Shame on us.

I_AM_ME on January 2, 2012 at 8:59 pm

“Hey, maybe he should visit a Klan meeting (or Ron Paul campaign headquarters, same thing) …”

Debbie ok nevermind that part.

It’s really sad and pathetic that they are trying to pay off those clerics. Please oh please stop killing us. Here, we have money, just please stop teaching your followers to kill us.

The only way to protect ourselves from Islam is to isolate ourselves from it. Keep it as far away from us as possible. Anyone else have a better idea?

The full farce of the Obama Administration’s foreign policy now on display with American sponsored Koran lessons in Pakistan. What could possibly go wrong?

Anybody but Paul. November 2012 can’t come soon enough.

Occam's Tool on January 2, 2012 at 10:01 pm

Wouldn’t be my strategy. I would protect Christian, Jews, other religious minorities, and muslim apostates. It would be difficult to be against protecting them. But it might take centuries to make muslims weak and ineffectual. At least that would be my starting point, not making islamic “republics”.

Really, you and you readers don’t know that a US President can’t just pass out taxpayer money? Heard of the House? Senate? If you love this country so much, perhaps consider learning how it works … it’s just not that hard to find the Constitution.

Pakistan is a lot more complicated that many people seem to realize. Which is why Bush didn’t tell them to f-off either. These rants clearly play well though, lots easier than thinking or God forbid learning something about the world.

H: In which branch is the State Department? Executive Branch. The President can’t just pass out taxpayer money? Watch him. He’s been doing it since Inauguration Day (or even before that) 2009. Oh, and by the way, I love someone who doesn’t know in which branch the State Dept is telling me that Pakistan is “complicated.” Whenever someone talks down to me and tells me something I know far more about than they do is “complicated,” it’s actually quite simple. Being allied with the fraudulent, deceitful Pakis is one thing. Paying jihadist imams to spread jihad is entirely another. See, for someone who lectures the rest of us about how something is “complicated,” you have very little ability to discern the nuances in dealing with Pakistan. DS

holly on January 3, 2012 at 1:27 am

Its not “complicated.” The jihadists are the guys in black hats and our side are the guys in white hats.

There is such a thing as good and evil. People who seek complex answers seek to dodge reality.

The Obamaniks can afford to make Islam look benign and the danger go away. Here’s the problem with it: the rest of us will pay the price.

And there are no nuances as the Islamist Winter has revealed. In the end, its really quite simple: its them or us.

    I choose us.

NormanF on January 3, 2012 at 11:35 am

Yeah Holly, just as DS smacked you down with…”watch him”.

It is YOU who have not been paying close attention to this administration. If you were paying attention you would see Barry Soetoro using the Porkulus and other spending bills as slush funds for the crappy Democrat party.

Did you see what happened with Solyndra?

Talk about un-constitutional. For those with their eyes open (unfortunately, many are asleep) know full well that this administration is the most corrupt and asinine to have come along.

    What about “Fast and Furious”?

Skunky on January 3, 2012 at 11:40 am

Holly, just where do spending bills originate, according to the U.S. Constitution?

Joel Harrell on January 3, 2012 at 1:13 pm

Sufis & Ahmadis ain’t no better. The Sufis are just 2% of the muslim population worldwide, although they are the majority in central Asian countries (the former Soviet stans) and in Chechnya & Kashmir. The Chechen jihadis, the Jihadis in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan as well as the ones in Xinxiang, China are all Sufis. As for Ahmadis, they are universally regarded by Muslims as heretical, in the same way any Christian who claimed that he was the successor to Christ and the new savior would be regarded as heretical. But the Ahmadiyas ain’t benign either – they too aggressively convert mainly non-Muslims to their branch of Islam, and then their followers get converted to real Islam by Saudis and other dawa artists.

The story above – it’s interesting how people in the West think that they know more about what is true Islam than people who have lived and breathed Islam throughout their lives, and interpreted it as Jihad based on both the teachings as well as the actions of Mohammed.

Even more unbelievable is the US believing that Pakistan wants to get people to stop waging Jihad against the US – the same Pakistan that sheltered every al Qaeda leader in a major city of theirs – Karachi, Faizabad, Rawalpindi, Abbottabad and so on. All of these are major Paki cities, and not their ‘wild west’ areas in Waziristan.

Infidel on January 3, 2012 at 3:55 am

Israel has relations with the Muslim stans of Central Asia. They repress Sunni Islamist movements.

The truth is that jihadism is a normative feature of Islam. Since it can’t reform itself, we should be aiding dissenting movements not to spread Islam but to keep it in check and divided.

That’s far preferable to a monolithic Islam going on the warpath against us.

Your point about Sufi jihadism is well taken. What we should do is get Islamists to fight each other than to have them fight us. I’d like it to be MAD and that it never ends.

Neither Pakistan or any Muslim country will ever lift a finger to help us fight our enemies. We can’t count on subcontracting out the work of fighting Islamic terrorism to others. We’ll have to do it ourselves.

NormanF on January 3, 2012 at 11:24 am

This is the sort of garbage that Karen Hughes pushed during her tenure at the State Department as Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy when G.W. Bush was still in office. She was also a believer in seminars and advertising as remedies for what ailed Muslims. Karen Hughes finally left the Bush Administration in 2007 having accomplished exactly nothing. Apparently even abject failure is not a bar to doing well, since she is now Vice-Chairwoman of Burson-Marsteller(.lobbying, public relations, etc).

President Obama and Hillary Clinton are pursuing the same policies as their predecessors in this respect. Their learning curve is apparently a flat-line.

Worry01 on January 3, 2012 at 9:45 am

Islamo-pandeting is a bipartisan affliction. Debbie’s criticism is not a partisan indictment of Obama. Bush did the same thing on his watch.

We’re not serious in fighting the enemy on account of our own conflicts and guilt about the White Man’s Burden

America can’t afford the luxury of hand-wringing on the clear and present danger of our time.

NormanF on January 3, 2012 at 11:29 am

You should have read the last sentence of my post. I am well aware of the bipartisan nature of this sort of pandering. My purpose was to illustrate how a change in management does not necessarily entail a change in policy. I noted at they end that the learning curve of President Obama and Hillary Clinton is a flat line. In fact, the current adminstration has doubled down on an idiotic policy that is apparently inspired by late night informercials, including the canned testimonials.

      Worry01 on January 3, 2012 at 5:33 pm

“Islam is a vibrant faith. Millions of our fellow citizens are Muslim. We honor its traditions. Our enemy does not. Our enemy doesn’t follow the great traditions of Islam. They’ve hijacked a great religion…Islam is a faith that brings comfort to people. It inspires them to lead lives based on honesty, justice and compassion.”

–President George W. Bush, October 11, 2002
Speech on U.S. Humanitarian Aid to Afghanistan,
Dwight D. Eisenhower Executive Office Building,

I ask you: Would anyone challenge the idea that Islamophilia is bipartisan? And who among the GOP candidates for president would publicly repudiate Bush’s words? I can’t think of any.

Six of one half a dozen of the other. It seems there are plenty of horses asses to go around in both parties. Obama is not stupid, but his agenda is obvious-placation, placation, placation. What do you expect? George W idiot cum laude had a similar agenda with his Saudi oil buds.
And since when are the Saudis our allies? Does 9-11 ring a bell?
Yes, they are all nervous about Iran, all the Emirates should be nervous about Iran. When push comes to shove they will all kiss Iran’s backside cause despite our new F-15’s that will no doubt sit in storage unless “donated” to Egypt, the Saudis are scared shitless by Iran and the newer “Islamanias”.
Meanwhile, sadly half our casualties are from ED’s manufactured in Iran. While our Washington Wall Street generals fiddle we fill our gas tanks with American blood. Thanks to Iran. Nukes? Obama is helping by giving Iran another six months to get it right? And now in Afghanistan we send out our soldiers with as little as nine bullets, not the required 250 rounds? I guess the enemy is expected to die laughing. Instead of dividing muslim tribes we unite these former fellow enemies. Another fucked up soup of a war?

Ron Wolf on January 3, 2012 at 5:54 pm

The BS that terrorists hijacked Islam and that’s it the ROP was given currency by a Republican President. The reality is exactly opposite.

Contrary to what John F, Kennedy wrote, profiles in political courage are rare today.

The program as described does not fund any imams, save perhaps for travel fees. I don’t doubt the activities described may have some utility.

The problems I have are that $5 million seems excessive for what is described (I estimate 3 diplomats w/audio-visual equipment, film productions, and overhead < $1.1 million for the first year and LESS each year after) and the Administration refuses to explain what the rest of the money pile – which they want to see grow – is for.

Solomon2 on January 8, 2012 at 11:22 pm

Reagan increased the budget for support of the radical Muslim Mujahidin conducting terrorism against the Afghanistan government to half a billion dollars a year.
One fifth of the money, which the CIA mostly turned over to Pakistani military intelligence to distribute, went to Gulbuddin Hikmatyar, a violent extremist who as a youth used to throw acid on the faces of unveiled girls in Afghanistan.

I noticed you said, in part of the article, holy war, or jihad, justified by the Quran, the religion’s holy book.
well, that statement is wrong, 1 you’re basically saying the noble quran justifies holy war, which it certainly does not. 2 you also say in thestatment; jihad, or holy war, jihad does not mean holy war, it basically means doing good deeds, for example if i go out of my way to help my parents, im doing jihad. jihad does not mean ‘holy war’, in fact, the word holy war never even comes up in the entire quran, so get your facts right and get your prejidices out of the way
