FUNNY VIDEO: The Martha Stewart Version of “Jackass”

One of the biggest stunts teens and 20-somethings are doing these days is trying to swallow a spoon full of cinnamon a/k/a “The Cinnamon Challenge.” Finally something less malignant than the usual stunts involving the disgusting, the dangerous, the illegal, or all three. This is actually pretty funny. And remember, there are significant health benefits to cinnamon, as discovered by Israeli scientists.

Cinnamon is chemically an aldehyde, or it can be a salt form of a cinnamonic acid. As such, it can, in large doses, become an irritant. It is used in some places of the world as an insecticide, used to kill mosquito larvae.

Hence, the reactions with a large concentrated dose of cinnamon will induce vomiting, choking (although any powder taken in large amounts orally can induce choking, and other similar type reactions.

Any beneficial substance that is abused can have harmful side effects.

Taken normally, it can be good for one’s health.
